Confessions 7/29

Good Morning Everyone,

Time for Confession....

I confess that today is going to be a rough one since the power went out around 2am last night and of course woke me up with the noise of the storm outside and the combined quiet of the house without the fan going. I've been up since then and unfortunately once I am up I am up. In fact Kyra is actually napping right now which is totally out of character and definitely a result of a restless night.

I confess that last night (before power outage) I was super frustrated since Pinterest was down. This just confirms my Pinterest addiction. But I was super bummed because Kyra went to bed early and Bobby was still off gaming and I had time to myself. That's just the way it always is isn't it?

I confess that I thought about painting my nails last night since there was no Pinterest to distract me but when faced with so many options and no real direction I gave up. Instead I put a clear coat on in hopes that today I will be more decisive.

I confess that while I love Instagram I am exhausted by the staged photos. How do you have time to stage everything to look so perfect?  Seriously...where do you find THAT MUCH WHITE BACKGROUND?

I confess I am a camera dunce. Seriously I have this really nice camera of my brother's and instead of using it I use my phone because I don't even know how to get the stupid screen to show what I want to look at instead of looking through the viewfinder. I have no idea what any of the settings are either. Also side note...I have a nice little camera of my own that I wanted to vlog with...but I have no idea where the charger is....
I confess I have spent the better part of this month feeling restless. You know that saying "Jack of all trades but master of none" ? That is what I feel like. I'm okay at lots of things but not really good at anything specific. I want to be good at something so I can finally focus and settle to it. How can you excel at something when you flit around from one thing to another? I need focus.

Yeah so this is a mish mash brain dump of a post but really what do you expect when I've already been up for hours and caffeine is the only thing keeping me going? I wish I were the kind of person that naps but I'll be up until midnight, tired and probably cranky.

Happy Humpday Everyone.

I wore a dress and didn't die

It really isn't a secret that I have body issues. They started when I was young and have progressively gotten worse. Though there was a beautiful moment in time when I felt amazingly beautiful and that was when I was pregnant. Sure not all pregnant women feel that way and sure toward the end I did feel a bit like a beached whale but I was so proud to be growing a little human being inside me that I didn't care about the stretch marks or the cellulite.

After Kyra was born however the body issues came flooding back when I had 30 pounds of baby weight and only a 6 pound baby. I continued to feel worse and worse when I saw all these posts and pictures of moms that bounced back after giving birth. I didn't bounce back at all...not like the fit moms of blog-land or the superstars on magazine covers. In fact the body I came home with didn't seem like my body at all. In fact I didn't even recognize this body. Having a baby changes everything. Including where you gain weight and how you carry it apparently.

So new issues arose, I got sad and frustrated, and so I hid. I hid in baggy pants and big shirts. I hid in jeans even when it was almost 100 degrees outside. Dresses and shorts? Those things were for skinny girls and fit moms. I didn't belong in those things.

But lately there has been a shift. I'm not any thinner (not according to the scale, my mirror, or the camera anyhow) but I feel different. I am just...done. I am so over hating my body every minute. I'm tired of wasting my time worrying about things that just aren't worth worrying about. I am sick of sweating my butt off every summer in fear that someone might see my fat.

This summer I have worn shorts, I have worn tank tops, and finally on Saturday I wore a dress. It was so humid and I desperately wanted to look nice but still be comfortable. The dress had been hanging in my closet for months and finally I was just like, "quit being a baby and just put it on...just see!" So I put it on. It fit. I looked nice. It wasn't billowy or super loose and it actually wasn't black.

I wore the dress and I didn't die of shame. In fact...I felt pretty awesome.
Not the best picture but the only one I snapped.

Weekending 7/27

Good Morning Everyone,

Here's the weekend recap:

Saturday:

We had my Grandfather's memorial service at the burial site and buried his ashes. My Grandmother wrote a few words and I read a poem. It was actually really nice and I think it helped my Grandmother a lot. They had been together since they were teenagers and I know she misses him more than anyone could imagine. We all miss him.

After the service we headed home in order to celebrate my husband Bobby's birthday. Before those festivities started however he opened his card from my Grandmother and she had given him a couple scratcher tickets. He won on both! Not a huge amount but more than he had ever won before! He was pretty excited. Then his Dad, Stepmom, and Brother came over to have a barbeque and visit. It was a lot of fun and super simple which is the way that Bobby prefers things. Some tasty treats were had as well!

Sunday:

Up early to have a birthday breakfast with Bobby's Mom, Stepdad, Brother, Brother's girlfriend, and a Friend at IHOP.Yummy pancakes were had!

After breakfast we wandered around a bit at the Tabletop store so that Bobby could browse around for a bit. It's fun just seeing what new games there are to try and taking nerdy talk with other people.

Then we headed over to my parents' house where they had offered to watch Kyra so that we could go see a movie for more birthday fun! We decided on Ant Man and though I was doubtful about it from the trailers (it just looked cheesy and ridiculous) it was actually really good! Paul Rudd was hilarious but totally pulled off the superhero vibe. It was funny and action packed and honestly one of the better Marvel movies. Two thumbs up!

Then it was time to pick Kyra up and head home. The evening was spent staying out of the heat, playing with Kyra, and in general being blissfully lazy.

So there's my weekend, hope you had an good one as well! Happy Monday Everyone.

Currently

Good Morning Everyone,

Okay so I had been working on this post last week and then I saw that Steph posted this same post today and I thought, "Hey! I have that post!" So today was a good day for it!

Reading- The Hundred Foot Journey by Richard C Morais. I had wanted to read this one for a while but had kind of forgotten about it. Then it appeared on my suggested reading at the library and I picked it up!

Watching- Well Kyra runs the TV a lot watching loads of Disney during our TV time so I mostly just watch YouTube Videos while I am on the treadmill. My current favorites to watch are Nerdy Nummies, Geek & Sundry, and LustreLux.

Cooking- Actually going to be baking this morning. I am attempting a Pinterest Recipe! It looks tasty!

Blueberry vanilla bread with lemon glaze. This delicious bread is stuffed with blueberries, and deliciously flavored with vanilla and lemon zest.

Drinking- Coffee, I finally went to the store and got some more and I am rejoicing!

Listening- to The Martian on Audible at night. Love this book. Seriously. Also Welcome to NightVale Podcast.

Needing- Some down time for myself....Or like a proper adult vacation....Actually I would settle for just getting to browse Ulta on my own for fifteen minutes.

Enjoying- The slight break in the 100 degree weather. 80 degrees isn't cool in my opinion but it is MUCH better than it was last week at 102!

Working On- Finishing up Camp NaNo, Meal plan for next month, budget...you know grown up stuff.

Be sure to check out Steph's Currently Post as she is the one I got the idea from last month! Also leave a comment and let me know what you are up to Currently!

Happy Thursday Everyone.

Some Late Confessions

Good Afternoon/Evening Everyone,

I am super late with my confessions today and also have been really MIA from the blog. I didn't mean to be but I am here now!

Here we go:

I confess that normally if I go MIA from the blog is it is because I am either feeling super down and don't want to spread the grump and gloom around or I am reading. In this particular instance it is both!

I confess that car trips suck. They make them look like awesome fun on TV and Movies but that is just a lie. Seriously they suck. Kyra was amazing, she was not the source of the suck. The source of the suck was the fact that she had her little TV going to keep her content and Bobby had his radio going AT THE SAME TIME. That is too much noise for a small space.

I confess however when Kyra fell asleep and I turned her TV off Bobby put on The Martian audiobook and that was awesome. I kept looking over at him during funny parts to see if he would laugh or react properly. I nearly gave myself whiplash. He reacted perfectly however and he is really enjoying the book.

I confess that when my Mom called me and told me she found the library books that I thought were lost I did a happy dance! I returned them this morning and got my money back! SO HAPPY!!

I confess that I have SNAPCHAT. Yep it is silly. Mostly I use it to follow/stalk my favorite YouTubers. If you are interested I do snap myself occasionally. I'm at chaosncocoa.

I confess that I save blogs to read for later and then usually binge on them when Kyra is napping or I am having a night of no sleep. So if you get comments on posts that are over a week old I promise I am not a creeper!

I confess that Bobby's birthday is this Saturday and I am kind of at a loss. We will probably go to dinner and I will try to get him something but the whole day is going to be kind of off since we are doing the memorial service for my grandfather. He passed months ago but this is out at the burial site and is just for the immediate family. I'm just not sure how I feel about all of it.....

I confess that even though all that is stressful I am still really excited that KC Comic Con is coming up in a few weeks. I won't be cosplaying but I do intend to still have a rocking good time. I CANNOT WAIT to take all kinds of photos and revel in my nerdy girl/fangirl side!

So that's it for me I will be back to normal posting now that I am out of the funk. Happy Humpday Everyone!

Confessions 7/15

Good Morning Everyone,

Time for Confession Day!

- I confess that I put in a call to my personal stylist (my mum) this week in order to get myself in order for the upcoming weekend away. I am so grateful that she does this for me and is on call for me whenever I need her.

- I confess that I get major stress when it comes to packing. I LOVE making the list but I always wonder just what I am going to forget...I haven't seemed to get the whole "mom" think where I remember everything and am prepared for all situations. I'm getting better though!

-I confess that Kyra is hilarious. We were at a library event last week and they were telling the kids to try to keep quiet because they had baby animals there that we were learning about. Well Kyra was getting restless and I told her that she had to sit still and be a good girl. She then puts her hands on my face and looks me in the eye and says, "Relax." The other moms cracked up. I admit I laughed too.

-I confess that she also pulled another moment of hilarity when they were showing us a Red-footed Tortoise. Kyra got excited and said, "Turtle!" and the very nice lady who saw and opportunity to teach said, "Well actually it is a Tortoise.." Kyra looks at her with this angry/disdainful look and says. "TURTLE." in a voice that clearly said. I'm not stupid lady. I know what I am talking about.

(Legit Kyra's expression)

-I confess that I have some serious anxiety issues when it comes to asking people questions. For example: I wanted to take Kyra to the Y to swim for the first time. Problem is I have never used the pool and didn't know the procedure/rules. I WAS UP FOR HOURS WORRIED ABOUT THIS. However I told myself to woman up and do the thing because Kyra would love it and I AM THE MOM. It worked out just fine and the girl was super sweet about it. Kyra loves the water and we will be going back a LOT more often! I did it!
I can't believe i did this

-I confess that one of the biggest reasons I look forward to confession week is to look for more Disney Gifs/ having a Gif theme. For some reason when it all connects it pleases me.

That's it for me this week. Happy Humpday Everyone!
