A Thanksgiving Tag

So this will most likely be my last post of the week because like most of you I will be spending time with family over the holidays and very little time on the computer. I might get a post drafted for Friday if I am feeling ambitious but we will have to see how it goes.

Anyhow today I thought I would do a fun little Thanksgiving Question/Tag type post!  If you feel like joining in and answering the questions yourself be sure to send me the link so that I can read them!

What is your favorite Thanksgiving food? Sweet Potatoes/Mashed Potatoes....actually pretty much any of the carb items are my favorite.

What quirky Thanksgiving traditions do you have? We don't really have any quirky ones but we often go to the movies as a family after the dinner is finished. I love doing this. Last weekend we did the same thing and it was just so much fun.

What electronic device are you most grateful for and why? Honestly probably my phone. It connects me even if I don't want to talk to people. I can check important emails, browse Pinterest, or just listen to audio books while cleaning. I'd miss it if I didn't have it. (Which I didn't on Monday and it was a major bummer.)

Where do you normally celebrate Thanksgiving? We always celebrate at each of the parents' homes. It takes some maneuvering and sometimes we celebrate on different days but we get to everyone and each celebration is special.

What items do you use daily are you most grateful for? My coffee pot, My Journal, and My skin care products

What skill are you most grateful for? I almost put writing but what really struck me is I wanted to put that I can sing. So I'm going to go with my ability to sing. Kyra loves it when I sing and I love it when she joins in singing songs that I've sung to her since she was just a baby.

What act of kindness are you most grateful for? My family is the greatest act of kindness I know. Honestly just getting to be part of them is what I'm most grateful for.

What flaw of yours are you actually grateful for? The fact that I get overly excited about everything. I think it is good to be excited. I think it is perfectly okay to be jump up and down happy about anything and everything. Joy is a powerful thing.

What are you most grateful for from this past year? This question is a tough one. This year has been especially hard. With that being said it is in the hard times that you find out just who you are. I think this year has made me mature more than I thought I needed. I also think it showed me how strong I am and that despite it all...I can still find joy.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! For those that aren't celebrating (or already have for my Canadian friends) I hope you just have an awesome week too!

Omaha Zoo 2016

Robert had to go to Omaha for some business stuff and we decided to go ahead and go up early and enjoy a day at the Omaha Zoo! I hadn't been since I was probably around like 14 or so and I was really excited to take Kyra on a mini "holiday"!

Warning: This will be a picture heavy post!

We left at 6am and arrived at just a bit after 9am. Kyra was ready to go! It was a perfect day for the zoo as it was only about 70 degrees and sunny. I was prepared for it to be scorching hot (it always seems to be when we decide to make a trip to the zoo) but it was glorious!
Awesome Splash Fountain

TL: Kyra when we arrived. TM: Elephant baby TR: Kyra posing with the baby elephant Statue
ML: Tortoise MM: Silver-back Gorilla MR: Tiger (That was roaring VERY loudly right before this pic)
BL: Proud Lion BM: Puma stopped to pose BR: Kyra pets the baby goat

TL: Aardvark TM: Giant Flemish Rabbit (It was HUGE) TR: Pony
ML: Kyra DOES NOT like peacocks MM: Mommy and Kyra MR: Grumpy Monkey
BL: Sun Bear BM: Komodo Dragon BR: White Tiger

Jungle area....with actual fruit bats just flying around freely. Kyra wasn't even bothered.

Monkey Tree and Hungry Sloth

Such a happy girl. She was amazing the whole time. I think she really enjoyed our little "holiday" away!

Overall Review: It was a blast! I love that it is a little more condensed than the Kansas City Zoo (it is HUGE and there is so much walking and next to no shade.) There were lots of places to sit and just watch the animals and we packed our lunch and had a little picnic by the big cat complex and it was awesome to watch the tigers while we ate! Kyra really enjoyed telling me about all the animals and their colors and what sounds they make. I highly recommend going if you are ever in Omaha!
*There was a lot of construction going on but it looks like in a few months there are going to be some really nice exhibits going in for the African animals!

Festive Fifteen Tag

1.Favorite Christmas smell / scent ?
I love the smell of snow. Now it probably won't be a white Christmas this year as it has been pretty warm but I love a white Christmas with that crisp scent of snow.

2. Gingerbread or Candy canes?
I'm not really into either one but Candy Canes over Gingerbread

3. Is your tree real or fake?
Fake. Robert wants a real one someday but I think they are a lot of work. Yes they smell nice but honestly...the fake one is so simple....

4. Quality Street or Roses?
So this must be an oversees thing since those aren't things that I am familiar with...however I am guessing they are chocolates so I'm just going to say that I love Christopher Elbow chocolates. YUM.

5. Do you dress up or down on December 25th?
I used to spend the day in pajamas but now that I'm a married lady and we have to split time we dress up to visit relatives.

6. Do you have any specific festive traditions?
We open one present on Christmas Eve (it's always new pajamas).

7. Any embarrassing Christmas moments that come to mind?
Not really....our Christmas times are pretty much just hilarious and fun....I don't remember anything embarrassing happening!

8. Do you wake up early or late on Christmas morning?
Early. Always. One year my youngest brother and I were up at 4 am. Of course my parents weren't getting up that early so we sat up and sorted the presents and basically stared at them until 6 am.

9. If you had a stocking where did you hang them?
We still do stockings! We hang them on the wall now because the pups are nosy and always try to get a sneak peek!

10. Favorite festive film/s?
How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Muppet Christmas Carol, ELF, Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf, The Holiday, The Family Stone....the list goes on and on.....

11. Was there a present you always asked for as a child but never received?
....I'm going to sound spoiled but I didn't really have one. I usually got what I asked for...and yes I asked for a pony. I didn't get one for Christmas but I did get a horse eventually.....so....yeah.

12. What was the best gift you received  as a child?
I received a lot of great gifts.....I suppose the best one was Jake our German Shepherd. He was such a cute puppy!

13. What is on top of your Christmas tree?
Spider-man.

14. Favorite festive food?
I basically love all the food. I do love that Robert gets me a chocolate orange for my stocking every year though!

15. Favorite Christmas activity?
I love watching my family open their gifts from me. I love the looks on their faces. I try to put a LOT of thought into a gift and I do love to surprise them...even though it PAINS me to wait....honestly I would give everyone their presents tomorrow if I could....
