More Things I Believe This Week

It is okay to un-follow/ un-friend those who no longer help you thrive. You don't need that negativity.

It is okay to step back and reevaluate your goals. This is not giving up, it is growing up.

Your Day Dream is important.

Tell your story, even the ugly bits. You are real and that is wonderful.

Words of Wisdom: Neil Gaiman

Today I am sharing some words of Neil Gaiman!

I am a recent convert to Gaiman's work but I have devoured several of his novels since accepting him into my life. Also when I find an author that I really like I tend to follow them on social media and I love following Gaiman because his words of wisdom are pretty much epic.

Here's a few:

“Read. Read anything. Read the things they say are good for you, and the things they claim are junk. You’ll find what you need to find. Just read.” Neil Gaiman:

“Fairy tales are more than true – not because they tell us dragons exist but because they tell us dragons can be beaten.” -Neil Gaiman, paraphrasing G.K. Chesterton - Neil Gaiman Explains Why Fairy Tales Are Badass:

Neil Gaiman Quote From Stardust ~ Topography by Mulluane:

The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can. -Neil Gaiman:

Some Monday Motivations

Good Morning Everyone,

Normally I would be posting my weekend recap today but my weekend consisted of binge watching Big Bang Theory followed by an epic Lord of the Rings Marathon. It was only 9 degrees yesterday so we weren't leaving the house. Needless to say there isn't much to talk about!

So instead I thought I would share some motivational quotes for this Monday Morning especially since I'm feeling them now that I have finally shaken my cold and am ready to get caught up on all the things that fell behind while I was sick!

Let's get Motivated.

Make one step in the direction of your bliss:

The Hobbit quote. Inspiring. The next book on my list after I finish North & South.:

emilysjoycoaching.com:

“Don't bend; don't water it down; don't try to make it logical; don't edit your own soul according to the fashion. Rather, follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.” ~ Franz Kafka ~:

Have a great Monday Everyone!

Monday Motivations

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I'm going to share with you some Inspirations/Motivations. This week is going to be a busy one for me and since my weekend was pretty mellow I don't have much to recap for you. So instead I thought why not have a little boost this Monday Morning?

So here we go:
You are never too old to set a new goal or dream a new dream ~ CS Lewis #quote

I just did it by turning down a full time job doing not my dream for a part time job doing my dream.

I know I posted this one to Instagram but it is still one of my favorites ever.

Happy Monday Everyone, Let's Have a Great Week!

#Blogtober14~ Favorite Quote

Good Morning Everyone!

I'm back! I totally failed on the blogging the past three days and I have no excuses other than I just was busy and didn't get around to posting! However today I am back to blogging and back to #Blogtober!

I actually decided to use the prompt for tomorrow today since tomorrow is my Confession Day and honestly I cannot remember my funniest childhood memory....there were lots of funny memories!

Today's Prompt: Favorite Quote

My favorite quote is pretty long actually and it is of course from a book.

~Velveteen Rabbit

This quote is just beautiful to me. Even when I heard it as a child I loved it. We all grow and change and by the time we get to where we are going we are rarely the same as we started out but when you love someone you don't mind the flaws. True love is just love and only those that cannot love cannot see it.

Have a Happy Tuesday Everyone!

#ConfessionDay-tober

Good Morning Everyone,

Vodka and Soda

Happy Confession Day!

...I confess that I SUCK at SnapChat. For one I can't seem to figure out how to work it properly and for two I constantly look as socially unacceptable as possible while I am home with Kyra. Seriously I make an effort if I know someone is going to see me but the rest of the time? Hah...no.

...I confess that I can sometimes be a lazy commenter. As in I use my Type to Text option on my phone to comment and sometimes I don't even bother to go in and fix auto correct mistakes. Sometimes they are just too funny to fix and other times it just isn't worth redoing the whole thing.

...I confess that I get a little #rageface about my internet when it starts acting like an idiot. I mean I seriously start to lose it sometimes. I need my internet people!!!!

...I confess I am slightly overwhelmed by the amount of hashtags this October...#Blogtober #Pintober #Inktober....seriously what is going on???

...I confess that because of #Pintober I really want to do arts and crafts.
...I confess that I usually give up on arts and crafts after seeing what my brothers and my parents come up with...#Ihavenotalent

....I confess to binge watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix because I have never seen it before. Seriously before last Friday I had never seen even one episode.
....I confess that I was a little annoyed at how my Twitter feed filled up with the October 3rd Mean Girls quote. Honestly I get a little annoyed at the Mean Girls quotes in general. People say it is the "Most Quotable" movie ever....ummm....NO. EVERY movie is the most quotable ever if you believe in yourself.

That's it for me today, check back in tomorrow for more #Blogtober14, it has been a lot of fun so far but....I confess....it was really nice to take a break today!

Have a Happy Humpday Everyone!

Thoughtful Thursday: Books are Love

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am stealing borrowing a post from Kenzie! I love books as most of you know and I thought that this post was right up my alley and also would be a lot of fun!

31 Confessions Any Book Lover Will Understand
Here we go!

Author you have read the most books from:
Probably K.A. Applegate, I read the entire series of Animorphs

Best sequel ever:
This is a tough one....most of my series I read have lots of books...not just a "sequel" I will say I loved Doctor Sleep which is a sequel to The Shining

Currently reading:
The Furies by Mark Alpert

Drink of choice while reading:
Cocoa....always cocoa!

E-Reader or physical book:
Physical books are much preferred however I do love the e-books now that I can check them out instantly from my library!

Fictional character you probably would have dated in high school:
Probably Park from Eleanor and Park Or Atticus from the Iron Druid Series

Glad you gave this book a chance:
The Black Jewels Chronicles- I passed them by for SO LONG, but once I read the first one I was hooked. Beautiful Fantasy worlds!

Hidden gem book:
Joust by Mercedes Lackey. I've read it many times and it is a beautifully written fantasy.
Also The School For Good and Evil is a brilliantly written young adult book by

Important moment in your reading life:
When I passed my love of reading to my little brother by reading him the Harry Potter Serious out loud when he was little. I have loved reading from the beginning but seeing him suddenly learn to love it and then become just as voracious a reader as myself made me very proud.

Just finished:
 Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

Kinds of books you won’t read:
I think that Military History or books along that line are the most difficult for me to really read so I tend to avoid them, but honestly I try to give every book a chance.

Longest book you’ve ever read:
More than likely it is something by George R. Martin. Those are some THICK books! But I honestly have no idea. I rarely check word count.

Major book hangover because:
This can be summed up by this pin...

Number of bookcases you own:
Eight at the moment, more to come I'm sure!

One book you have read multiple times:
Oh good lord....I read lots of them multiple times. Other than Harry Potter? Um...The Hobbit. Yep probably The Hobbit.

Preferred place to read:
Either curled in a corner of the couch or else in bed in the dark.

Quote from a book you’ve read that inspires you:

~Velveteen Rabbit
(The best quotes are usually from Children's Books)

Reading regret:
I regret nothing, however I have started not finishing if it sucks!

Series you started and need to finish:
The Inheritance Cycle Series....I haven't read the last one yet...it's on my "To Read" list!!!

Three of your all-time favorite books:
Please....just three? I'm a series girl. There are no "Most" favorite. That's like picking a favorite child. Honestly....

Unapologetic fangirl for:
J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, Laura Levine, Kevin Hearne, George R. Martin

Very excited for this release more than all the others:
The next in the Iron Druid Series.

Worst bookish habit:
Starting multiple books at once, leaving my books all over the house and using about anything as a bookmark. Drives my husband crazy.

Your latest book purchase(s):
I bought the entire Water Song Series on a whim from Amazon. They are wonderful books though!

Zzz-snatcher book (the last book that kept you up way too late):
Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. Aside from being a page turner it also scared me and left me with haunting nightmares...Thanks for that Mr. King.....

Such a fun post! Hope you all enjoyed as much as I enjoyed filling it out! Also if you wanna be my friend on Good Reads just click!

Tips to get you Writing!!

Good Morning Everyone!

So lately I've been having a little trouble thinking of things to write. I cannot tell you how many minutes have passed me by while I stare at the blank page or blank screen. It is so frustrating to know that you SHOULD be writing but there is just nothing that wants to be written. I always feel so guilty if I close the laptop or the journal without writing anything down or meeting my word count for the day. Writers Write!!! They do not give up!

So I decided that I would put together a post of things that I do in order to get back to writing again!

1) Get Musical. Find a playlist or spend some time creating one. I like to find classical styles normally for more intense or thoughtful scenes and songs with lyrics that I really like for scenes with more dialogue. Either way music can really help get the ideas flowing!
My Favorites:
Lindsey Sterling
Apocolyptica
Halestorm
The Piano Guys

2) Go for a Walk. Sometimes you just have to get out of the house and get some outside stimuli. It helps me clear my head and start to let my mind wander away from all the other things that I am worried about and before I know it I am daydreaming. Daydreaming always helps me come up with new ideas!

3) Check out Pinterest "Writing Prompts". There are so many prompts for both blogs and just writing in general! Sometimes you just have to write something different from your current project to shake things up a bit!

4) Read!  I believe the only way to be a good writer is to be a good reader! So pick up a book, something that you enjoy, something that made you want to write in the first place! Books inspire great thoughts, let them inspire you!

I tend to gravitate toward books about writing when I am having a case of writer's block. My favorites are these:

Stephen King's---- On Writing
I love this book. Part Memoir and part Writer's Tool box, it really helps me get focused on my work. I love Stephen King's honesty in this book. His approach to writing resonates with me and I am always returning to this book for good advice! Also I love hearing about how he struggled before he became famous, helps remind me that it never comes easy, only with hard work! Also I HIGHLY recommend the audiobook version of this. Stephen King narrates it himself and it is truly brilliant to hear live!

Barbara Demarco- Barret's----- Pen on Fire
I got this book a LONG time ago when I thought I was too busy for writing and wanted to find ways to fit it into my schedule. Little did I know that I had NO CLUE as to what having no time was like! Now that I am a Mom and a Wife, I realize what it is like when you are trying to meet word counts and still maintain the balance of daily life. This book has some really great tips and tricks for fitting writing into your daily life without feeling guilty! (Mommy guilt...ugh)

5) Free Writing. I know you have heard this before, but it really does help. Sometimes all you need to get started is to just start typing or writing. It doesn't matter what you are writing about. It could be the weather, the items on your desk, how frustrated you are that you can't seem to write anything....just write! Even if you don't get anything brilliant written, you still "exercised"  your writing ability and the next time it will come easier and you will break through your block!

I hope these tips were helpful to you! Happy Writing Everyone!

Thursday Thoughts- Ready to be Me

Good Morning Everyone,

So I've been thinking about things.

Things I am good at and things I am not so good at.

Things I wish I was good at and things that are just not going to happen.

I've come to a few conclusions.

One~

I am not a YouTuber. I wish I was, I wish I had the time to spend editing and filming videos. I love watching videos and I am never out of ideas for content. I have ideas just floating around in my head waiting for the chance to be seen but alas I have no time to video and edit. It takes a lot of time. I tried to film a March Favorites video and it took me a million tries and it still didn't end up right and I have no time to edit it down to a good length. Also halfway through filming Kyra's nap ended and I found myself shooting the video with a little one crawling around me and trying to steal all the items off my desk as I filmed. It was entertaining but not great for filming quality.

Two~

I AM a good writer. This I am certain of, I know that I can write and that I write well. I know that when I am feeling down or happy or anything in between it is writing that I turn to in order to express those emotions.

Three~

I actually really love blogging. I love knowing I have a little corner of the internet to myself that I can put content out into the world. It may not always be the most amazing content, and maybe it doesn't make much more than a tiny ripple in the ocean that is blog land, but it is my space and I love it.

Four~

I am not good at promoting my blog. I've never been in it for the money, I do not like to "Pimp" my blog out in any fashion. I love link ups, I love doing tag posts, but "sponsors" make me uncomfortable. I'm really just here to write....and I honestly hate posts that have three words of the actual author's content and then a page worth of sponsors. I've said it before, I come to your blog to read about YOU. I will find other blogs via linkups and such, also I would never pay money for someone more popular than me to promote me. It seems....just too weird.

Five~

I love makeup. I love beauty products in general. However I am never going to be one of those girls that it is okay for me to drop a lot of money on makeup. Maybe this makes me not as dedicated as the others, I'm not sure. Also lately I feel like the wind has been taken out of my sails on the whole thing. No one ever really took my makeup advice before and now they are taking someone else's instead and repeating it back to me even though I've known these things for years....even though I've told them these things before.

Six~

Most people in real life are not listening to what I am saying. I'm excitable, a HUGE fangirl, and in general pretty silly.....but my voice is pretty much ignored on anything important. Actually....my voice is ignored in general. By everyone. This is not for a pity party it is just the truth. No one cares what I am saying, I'm just a weird piece of furniture in their lives (quote from Juno, amazing movie)

Seven~

I am done writing content in order to "impress". Those posts always feel forced and awful to me and thus I am done with them. I write what I write and that is that. I'm done trying to be like This blogger or That blogger. I'm just me, and that is enough.

Eight~

I am a crappy photographer. End of story.

Nine~

I am slightly obsessive. When I find something I like I have to know all the things about it. I latch on tightly and don't let go. Sometimes this obsession might pass, but more than likely it will not. As I said I am a Fangirl and that is one of their many qualities.

Ten~

There are going to be some changes around this blog. I am going to really start writing for myself and if people happen to like it that would be awesome. I am tired of feeling like everything I enjoy someone else has already done so what is the point? I'm done with that. So what if someone else has done it? So what if my favorite things are things that maybe other people are much better at? I love baking, makeup, writing, reading, blogging, comic books, movies, cosplay, D&D characters, and being a mom. Am I an expert at any of these things? NOPE. But I'm over all that, I'm done feeling like I am less than. All those things make me who I am...and now I'm just ready to be me.
