The Weekend In Photos

Afternoon Everyone,

So today for some reason I cannot seem to get the words together to make a blog post. Instead I thought I would share with you the weekend we had in the photos from my phone!

Adorable Baby girl crawled up on the chair and fell asleep all afternoon on Friday.

Saturday was pretty dreary but we still snapped photos of this cutie. She loved these bunny sculptures and wanted to give the bunny a kiss! (My amazing parents are also pictured. They had not seen her in a week and they were so happy to spend the day with her!)

The most amazing cocoa I have EVER had....curtesy of Cocoa Dolce. I will be doing a post on this place!!

They gave us these as samples....OMG I died. Blackberry, Tahitian Vanilla, and Coconut Caramel

Next door to the amazing Cocoa Dolce was Fat Brain Toys. Look at my little Master Chef!

After our walk in the rain we headed to the mall for some silly fun times....

A super fun weekend all in all! Have a great Monday Everyone!

#Blogtober~ Favorite Editing Tools

Good Morning Everyone,

Today we are going to talk about favorite editing tools for your blog/instagram.

I'm gonna be real honest here...I only really got into editing things recently and therefore don't have a whole lot to offer but for the beginners I do have some helpful tools that I like to use pretty regularly.

Honestly my first choice when it comes to editing/creating things is always going to be Publisher. That is what I learned on first and is my favorite when it comes to creating fliers and other creative type things and I do occasionally us it for the blog and for newsletters. I used it a lot more when I was working full time but it still works for little blog projects.

Second for the blog is PicMonkey. This is such an easy editing tool and is great for making quick images for any type of blog series you might be doing or if you wanna make any type of collage or edited photo thing for the blog or even Facebook! Very user friendly and if you do decide to upgrade you get TONS more options but if you are a cheapo like myself you can still get a lot done on the freebie version!

Now Instagram and I are new acquaintances but on the rare occasion that I do edit a photo on there I like to use SnapSeed. It is pretty user friendly and lets you have a lot of options when it comes to editing your photos. Also it is free which is super awesome!
Also for a more silly editing tool I like to use PhotoWonder. You can add cool effects and silly images to your photos for days when you aren't taking your selfies too seriously!

I cannot wait to see what editing tools you all use because honestly I'm pretty basic around here! Looking forward to finding more things to play with!

Weekend Recapish

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm still not feeling super awesome with the cold and now with my ankle deciding to be a pain, but thank you all for your awesome comments yesterday and well wishes. You all made the day so much better!!!

Today I thought I would share the pictures from the past weekend in a weekend recap type thing, and by thing I mean that I only have pictures from our trip to Ren Fest on Saturday.....

So here we go:

So this is My Fairy House that I submitted at RenFest. This is pretty much the first creative project (non writing) that I have ever finished all on my own!
(Back View)
Of course this is my parents' submission. Do you see the Epicness? Yeah, THEY have talent. I missed that gene...

That is a Willow root, and lots of gourds that they grew in the garden and then painted to perfection.

Isn't that just awesome?

This is one of the other submissions at the Fest....You can't see it in this picture but there is a tiny book on a bench that is titled "Fifty Shades of Fey" ....Hilarious!

Another Submission...So Adorable!

And Another.....

And Another....Seriously SO MUCH TALENT and CREATIVITY!

I love the roof on this one! Awesome Submission.
Then I took one of the fairies home. Isn't she so cute with her Pop Pop (my dad) ?!?!

Kyra clearly thought this mermaid was hilarious.....
This is my little 15 month old looking like she is all grown up....STOP IT RIGHT NOW!
And because I am turning into one of "those" girls....a shameless Selfie.....

So there you have it, Hope Everyone is having a great day, be sure to come back tomorrow for Confession Day!!!!

DIY Makeup Brush Cleaner

Good Morning Everyone!

So today I thought I would share with you a my attempts at a DIY project! This project was inspired by this product right here:

This is the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove. It retails for $35 bucks on the Sigma site.

Now I'm not knocking Sigma but um....I'm not going to spend $35 bucks on a glove with bumps on it to clean my brushes. However I was intrigued by the design and thought.....why can't I make that?

So I did...........kinda.

I didn't have a thick rubber glove so instead I thought I would use a Cool Whip lid.

Why? Because I am classy like that.........also it is what I had on hand.

Here's what I used:

Just a hot glue gun, the glue is already loaded in, and then a cool whip lid. No biggie.

Next you take your hot glue gun and draw happy little shapes. I know my shapes are wonky but I didn't have a lot of glue and basically I was just trying to get it done quickly while Kyra was napping. You get the general idea though.

Let things dry for a bit and then it is time for testing! Here is my dirtiest brush by far....my face/foundation brush. Also I am using baby shampoo to clean the brushes. Let's try this baby out!

Yep it is working....gross.

After a few moments of light scrubbing over my homemade shapes, we have a clean brush!

Here is the residue left over after cleaning on my homemade cleaner. I continued on after this image to clean the rest of my makeup brushes and a good deal of the residue came off after that but I would let the glue dry a little longer to avoid the makeup stuff sticking to it.

Overall thoughts?

This actually did make cleaning my brushes much easier and much faster. It took probably  half the time and I used a lot less water which made me very happy. All in all I would say this was a pretty successful DIY! Also the cost was right....it was free!

If you all decide to make one of you own I would love to see them! Post in the comments below!

Big hugs to you all! Happy May Day!
