Hello Summer

It's time to share my Summer Goals with you all! (I totally missed the linkup last week....oops!)

Meal Plan- I am so bad with this. It is really hard to do when your husband only likes the absolute worst things for you (fried things), doesn't eat condiments or spices, and the only vegetables he will touch are the only ones I don't like (green beans). However I want to make sure that Kyra is getting the nutrition she needs and I want to do better by myself as well. So planning is going to be a big focus to make sure that everyone is getting something...without relying on fast food out of frustration!

Budget and begin to reduce debt- We have been working on getting our finances all together and being good adults. Now it is time to put things into action!

Meet my daily step count every day- I have been nailing this one so far this month and I want to keep it up all summer! I love seeing that I met or exceeded my goal each day!

Complete the 30 day Shred again- I found this DVD while searching for something else and I think it is about time I gave it a go again. I always love how I feel after completing it....even if it is a beast to get through!

Enjoy the summer with Kyra and not be worried about the things I don't get done. Not every day has to feel like a sprint to the point of exhaustion trying to get as much done as possible. It is okay to take it slow and just enjoy the moments. This past weekend was a great example of that. We had so much fun and I only took one picture. I spent more time just enjoying than worrying about capturing that enjoyment!

What are your goals for this summer?

What I Read: January Edtion

It's time for the absolute best linkup ever.

I have been looking forward to this one for a while now since I missed the last one. Although I didn't get a lot of reading done this past month to be honest. It's been hard to read since I can't seem to stay settled for very long, but I am working on it. I really am. However the two books I did read I enjoyed and I wanted to share them with you all today.

So here we go:

You by Caroline Kepnes
This book was SO CREEPY. I mean it was just seriously disturbing and yet I could not put it down! I finished it in less than 24 hours because I was hooked. I had to know what was going to happen next even though I was thoroughly disturbed. Honestly I cannot wait to pick up the sequel because it was just that good. I mean I really loved it even when it was terrifying and at times grossing me out. If you are into books that will make you want to look over your shoulder and wonder just what sort of people there really are in this world...well this one is for you.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
I picked this one for the Book Challenge that Erin is hosting and I have to say I was not disappointed. I have read Lisa See before and liked her and this book was no exception. I have a fascination with all Chinese traditions. Foot binding, hierarchy, the expectations of the women and men and how the households and marriages were arranged.....it all fascinates me. This book touches not only on those topics but also focuses on the bond between the women that lived through these things. I loved seeing the different bonds the women developed...the good and the bad.  The story was both wonderful and at the same time heartbreaking....but that is the way that life is. A great read.

Short and sweet this past month but hopefully this month I will be able to get more reading done!

Until then be sure to check out the linkup and see what everyone's been reading!

Weekend Recap: The First one (of 2016)

Good Morning Everyone,

Well here we are in the new year and I'll just let you know it's been interesting.

First off 2015 decided to end on a bummer note. I fell while walking the dog and messed up my knees pretty badly.
Yeah....ouch.

Then we spent the evening taking care of Kyra who caught a really bad cold. Poor thing was just miserable.
Still gave Mom a little smile though.

We watched silly movies, Robert tried out his new deep fryer, and drank sparkling grape juice out of fancy glasses.

New Year's day was really quiet as well. We watched some silly movies and continued to take care of our sick little lady. It was a napping kind of day. I did catch up on blogs and comments because I was nearly a week behind! Apologies if I took forever to reply to you all!

Saturday: We decided to take down all the Christmas decor. This was probably the earliest I have ever taken them down but this year I was just ready. I needed the space and I was just ready to put it all away. It feels really nice to have it all done!
While we were cleaning it seems that Kiya managed to catch a parrot or perhaps a flamingo.

Sunday: Another pretty quiet day. The sickness finally found it's way to me and Kyra and I spent the better part of the morning coughing. So we watched movies and relaxed. Robert and I did play one of the new games that we got for Christmas and basically we just stayed in and took it easy.

I realize that probably sounds like a pretty boring weekend but honestly I didn't mind too much. I do wish that the sickness hadn't happened but I am glad that this first weekend was just our little family spending time together!

Hope everyone had a good weekend and a lovely New Years.

Welcome back to Monday.

Hello 2016

It's a New Year.

I suppose this is supposed to be the post about resolutions, goals, etc.

However I only have one real goal for the year.

To be grateful for the things I have and embrace my happiness.

2016 is going to be a big year.

We have a new little one on the way.

Bobby got the promotion he so rightfully deserved.

We are so very lucky.

So I resolve to remember how lucky I am.

To find my happiness in the life I have.

To remember how far I've come to reach this point.

To look forward to all the year has in store for me.

happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrate it for everything that it is.:

 Happy New Year Everyone.
