The One with Lots of Family Time

Friday- I spent most of Friday morning super busy but then the afternoon Kyra and I had to get out of the house. So first stop was the library to pick up some holds and also to take care of some fines. My library was running the Food for Fines program again so we took our canned goods and got our fines forgiven.

After the library we had to make a grocery store since it was Friday and since we had gotten a ton of work done the past week we treated ourselves to Starbucks. I got the Green Tea Frappe and let me tell you it is now my go to drink! Actually I have been researching how to make it at home because yeah I'm going to need that one a lot over the summer!

Kyra got a tasty treat from the "kitchen" as she calls it. Not pictured because she immediately ate it.

We powered though the shopping and then headed home to make some tacos for Cinco De Mayo. Let me tell you there were amazingly tasty. I'm not normally one for salsa and sour cream and all that jazz but everything was so fresh and wonderful and of course I didn't take a picture because I'm a greedy guts who eats her food before being a good blogger and snapping a photo.

After the awesomeness that was dinner I headed out for my evening walk and passed by these lovely flowers that told me they wanted their picture taken.

Saturday: I spent part of the morning finishing up some work and then wandered to our downtown area because they opened a few new stores.
I think I need this.

These too.

Then that afternoon we took off to take Kyra to visit some parks! The day was too gorgeous to spend indoors!

After playing around we had to stop by Target for some necessary things and of course left with things that we didn't really need because that is curse of Target.

Then we headed to my parents for the evening and fed the animals. I should have snapped pictures but again I was playing with Kyra and hanging with my family so yeah my phone wasn't even with me.

Sunday: More work in the morning and then the afternoon was spent watching some old movies. Not like super old more like...90s old. We watched- Major Payne, So I Married an Ax Murderer, Clue, and Nothing But Trouble. All hilarious and a great throwback.

Sunday night another evening walk that was accompanied by a few little hop toads.

So that's what we were up to. How was your weekend?

Weekend Recap: Maximum Effort

Saturday:
Woke up fairly early and Robert suggested that we might go and see Deadpool if my parents were willing to watch Kyra for a bit. I called them up and they were of course delighted. So we all got ready and we dropped Kyra off who handled the whole thing so well. Sometimes she is completely fine being left at my parents and sometimes she only wants Mama and then it is painful for everyone. Today however she was ready to go and have some fun.

Robert and I headed off to the movie that was HILARIOUS. Yes it was inappropriate, perverted, sarcastic, crass, and there was a LOT more naked than in other Marvel movies but it was so wonderfully Deadpool. Honestly I don't think they could have gotten it more perfect if they tried. We laughed so hard throughout the whole thing and yes it will be one that we purchase in the future. Well Done.

I was surprised that there was an entire boy's soccer team there...they were all around 9 or 10 years old and I thought that was a bit young for this but....well I'm not their mom so whatever.

After the movie we grabbed a quick bite and then went back to pick up Kyra. We had a double birthday party to go to for my husband's dad and stepmom later that evening.

Kyra wasn't willing at first. She was getting to play in the mud and had gotten to feed the horse and the chickens and basically was living it up at my parents. However finally we convinced her to go and after a bit of clean up we went to the birthday party where she was really well behaved and made me so proud. It's tough to be a well behaved two year old especially when the other kids are older and get to do things you don't get to. However a bottle of bubbles can fix just about anything and she was pretty content to chase bubbles through the yard so long as Mom and Dad kept blowing lots and lots of bubbles. I have no pictures of this entire evening because I was playing with Kyra. #notsorry

Needless to say after that day we all slept pretty well.

Sunday:
I made breakfast of bacon and eggs and had planned to spend the day doing laundry and meal prepping but it was 75 degrees outside and Robert and Kyra were itching to get out into the world.

So we went out to wander around a bit. We hit up the Tabletop game store to see what was new and Kyra of course charmed everyone there with her exclamation of "Games! Monsters! KITTY!" (They have a resident cat and Kyra is in love with.)

After the Tabletop store we just went and hit up Home Goods and Marshalls but by far our favorite stop was 5 Below. We had never been in one before and spent the majority of the time laughing at hilarious cards in the card section, trying on bunny ears in the Easter section, and just generally being those people you stare at and walk away from. It was a blast.

Then we started heading back home but Robert made a stop by the store Yoki. It's a store with tons of Japanese inspired items. We wandered around in there for a good while before picking up a few items.

The first thing I got was this little bundle. It is makeup remover wipes, 3 face masks, and a towel. It was only 7 bucks! Had to have it.

The second things we got I can only show you the wrappers of because we ate them before I remembered to be a good blogger and take a photo.
Green Tea Kit Kat

Cheesecake Kit Kat

The Green Tea Kit Kats were our favorite and I will have to get more at some point. Delicious!

Then we had to head home where it was time to have dinner and just kind of veg out for the evening. We attempted to watch Fuller House. Robert's idea not mine. He will watch literally ANYTHING that is new... but after two very painful episodes even he admitted that it was just too bad to watch. Yeah just skip it.
Then before you know it it was Bathtime/Bedtime around here and the weekend was Poof! Gone.

So what did you all get up to? Anyone else see Deadpool??

Weekend Recap: The One with the Martian

Friday: There were brownies. Also Dinosaurs.

Saturday: My brother's birthday! We went out as a family and had dinner. I have no pictures of this because we were too busy having fun. Sometimes you just have to be in the moment and not behind your phone! We had an awesome dinner at The Smokehouse and embarrassed him by singing Happy Birthday.
Dylan Black
The birthday boy and his boy Archer.

Sunday: My parents offered to watch Kyra so that I could finally go see The Martian!

I really enjoyed it but there were some parts that irked me. Hollywood did it's little number on it and I felt like some important parts were left out and some parts were made up. I won't spoil it for anyone but it wasn't as good as the book IMO.

After the movie we were walking to go and get some food and we stopped so I could take a picture of this awesome sculpture/statue.

Then we went and got some food and I was very amused to see they offered a doggie menu. We obviously didn't have any of our fur kids with us so we didn't get to see any of them but I still snapped a shot of the menu! Also my own awesome lunch, The Freebird Chicken Sandwich!

During lunch I started getting a headache and it was time to go and pick Kyra up from my parents but as we headed back to the car I stopped to take a picture of these creepy pumpkin people/things.

The headache I got during lunch turned into a full blown migraine by the time we got to my parents' house. Nausea, light sensitivity, the whole nine yards. So my mom offered to keep Kyra a little longer so that I could go home and rest. My husband took off to go see his mom and I immediately got in pajamas and passed out. After a two hour nap the migraine was finally gone and my parents brought Kyra home. She and I then spent the evening cuddled up together watching Hotel Transylvania and reading her new current favorite book: Green Eggs and Ham!

So that was our weekend! Hope you had a good one! Happy Monday.

October Must Watch List

Good Morning Everyone,

So Tuesday I shared with you all my October Playlist and now this week I am going to share with you my October Movie List! These are my Must Watch List movies that get me in the mood for Halloween/Fall/Fun. I have broken the list down into two columns. The first one is what I call the Easy Halloween movies. Meaning they are not really scary and mostly just campy fun times. The second column is more of the horror stuff. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to scary movies so I tried to keep those to a minimum for you all!

What are your favorite Halloween movies? Are you a Easy Halloween person or a Horror Fan? See something on this list that you absolutely love? Let me know in the comments!

Confessions 10/7-With a Little Pitch Perfect Goodness

Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome back to Confession!

Let's Confess....

I was SO jealous when my family went to see The Martian last Friday. They all went during the day and I couldn't go because I am pretty sure that Kyra would not appreciate the story as much as I would. Also I am not one of those people that takes their kid to an adult movie only to have the kid get bored and then annoy everyone else there. #respectfulmom .

I confess however that while I was pouting Robert took Kyra and I to the indoor playground at Marshalls were Kyra had a blast and then we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. #yum

I was beyond thrilled that we went back to Ren Fest on Saturday. It was kind of spur of the moment. My parents were going and my brother and his girlfriend were going to be there as well so we decided to give it another try. I am so happy to say that Kyra was perfect this go around. Maybe it was because her grandparents were there. Maybe it was because we plied her with yummy food stuffs (funnel cake was a particular hit). Or maybe it was just a better day. Whatever the reason this trip was awesome and I had all the fun I had expected from the week before!

I spend the majority of Monday working on my blog and catching up with comments and other blog posts. So if you got a comment from a post from two weeks ago, I am not a stalker, I just was playing catch up. I did manage to catch up however and it just makes my little heart sing!

I confess that I totally thought the book linkup was yesterday and nearly posted my post but thankfully I read Megan's post on Monday and it reminded me that it is in fact NEXT Tuesday. I have no idea why I got so ahead of myself!

I confess that when we got out of the grocery store for under $100 bucks I did a little dance in the parking lot. #budgetbabe

I confess that I have been EXTRA nice to my pups since I started watching ZOO on Netflix......#Iloveyou #pleasedonteatmyface

That's it for me this week! Be sure join the linkup and confess to your heart's content!

Confessions- The One with the broken controller

Good Morning Everyone,

Today is Confession Day!

I confess that when our Playstation 3 remote stopped working it caused a bit of a panic in our house. We stream everything through the PS3 because we don't have cable. It also works as our DVD/Blu Ray Player. So basically without the controller we were left without TV. Now this wouldn't have been a problem normally but all of Kyra's movies are on DVD or Blu Ray. Ever had to explain to a 2 year old that she can't watch her Disney movie because the controller is broken? No? Let me just tell you....they don't get it.

I confess that I tried very hard not to be frustrated and annoyed when Robert came back with the wrong cable to fix the controller. He didn't check the package and got one for the PS4 instead....

I confess that I just laughed hysterically when he came back with the right cable only to find out that it was the controller that was bad and not the cable.

I confess that I called in reinforcements yesterday and begged my parents for a DVD player...didn't have to be Blu ray or anything fancy. Just ANYTHING. They of course came through.

I confess I have never been so relieved to hear Totoro's theme music come on my TV. My little lady was so happy to have her movies back.

I confess that I realize that some will probably pass judgement on the fact I let my two year old watch TV when she wants. But I don't care. She has playtime, coloring/creative time, and reading time. She can watch movies if she wants!

That's the confession for this week! Happy Humpday Everyone!

Friday Favorites: Childhood Edition

Good Morning Everyone,

If you happened by the blog on Wednesday you would have seen my Childhood Confessions Post. If you haven't seen it then check it out here

Anyhow that post was so much fun that I thought I would go ahead and share my Childhood Favorites with you as well!

Here we go:

Favorite Toys:
My Little Pony
Vintage My Little Pony Twice As Fancy Sugarberry $7
I have over 800 of these. Not kidding. This particular one still smells like strawberries!

Smooshees
Smooshees!! Smooshees were produced by Fisher Price in 1988/89. Although it was a short lived series they certainly packed a lot in! Smooshees were fabric animals or dolls which came with a small accessory they could be smooshed into. There were also a few books and other related items produced.
The whole point was to stuff them into their little houses. Odd but fun.

Lil Miss Dolls
Li'l Miss Makeup! I wanted this for x-mas/Chanukah one year and my mom refused to buy it, but you better believe my sweet grandparents got it for me. Classic.
There was a whole line of these...makeup, hair, etc. I knew my makeup obsessions started young...These were the only "baby" dolls I really liked. I was more into stuffed animals and things.

Popples
35 awesome Toys every '80s girl wanted for Christmas. I'm pretty sure you and/or your sister had most of these!
Mine is actually Green and Orange but yeah these were awesome.

Little Tykes Toy Castle
LIttle Tikes Classic Castle! We have tons of little tikes play houses etc but this is the house favorite by far!!!
We had one of these in our living room for YEARS. So many sleepovers we spent inside the castle...That thing was AWESOME.

Favorite TV shows:
Classic Bugs Bunny
Witch Hazel From Bugs Bunny | Looney Tunes: Spotlight Collection Volume 5
This is one of my most favorite episodes. Abracadabra!

Dinosaucers
Dinosaucers = anthropomorphic dinos
Dinosaurs....From Outer Space....Seriously.

She-Ra
I loved She-Ra and He-Man...had all the action figures and I was She-Ra for Halloween one year.
Princess of Power. I wanted to be her when I grew up.

Care Bears
Ahhh... You are my care bear and I love you! The one with the heart....which made you different... You cared!! :-)
It's the Care Bear Countdown...5, 4,3,2,1!

Favorite Books:
Saddle Club Books
 The Saddle Club #6(Dude Ranch)

The Misty of Chincoteague Series

Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry ~ One of my most favorite books when I was little.

Dealing With Dragons

14 Amazing YA Books With Inspirational Heroines -- Dealing With Dragons?? MY FAVORITE.

Goosebumps Series

Goosebumps series by R.L Stine - read a lot of these when I was a kid but this was the first one I owned and read
Collected these EVERY month
Animorphs
Just check out this haul: | Can You Make It Through This Post Without Wanting To Be In 5th GradeAgain?
I have them all. Amazing Series.

Favorite Movies (This is a hard one so I'm just going to put some of the gems you may have forgotten about...or maybe never even heard of!)
Fluppy Dogs
This movie was AMAZING. Where did it disappear to?

Garfield's 9 Lives

This one was awesome...one of the stories still makes me cry.

Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn (1982): I first saw this Rankin/Bass movie in college, and even without the childhood nostalgia I was hooked. Absolutely gorgeous and pretty faithful to the book. The soundtrack by America is sweet, too. :)
Still one of my Favorites but I'm amazed that I understood it since it is a pretty mature film really...ah well UNICORNS!

Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer
Ok, hear me out before you dismiss Rainbow Brite all together. I pinned it for one reason: "The Beginning of Rainbowland." The 2-part episode was a dark epic and completely unlike the rest of the show. Click to check it out.

Flight of Dragons

The Flight of Dragons. 1982 animated film produced by Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin, Jr. and loosely combining the speculative natural history book of the same name (1979) by Peter Dickinson with the novel The Dragon and the George (1976) by Gordon R. Dickson
Another more mature one, but DRAGONS.

Those are just a few of my favorite things from childhood! See anything you remember? See any of your favorites on the list? Let me know in the comments!

Have a great weekend everyone!
