Planet Comicon 2016 Recap

This year was the first con that my bestie Amanda had ever gone to and on Thursday night she came up in early ready for the fun to be had Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Matt also came in Friday morning to spend the weekend and I was super excited to have our friends go with us and I was absolutely thrilled that it was Amanda's first con!

Friday: My mom offered to watch Kyra so that I could spend the day looking without having a little one to look after. It was really nice of her because I actually got to really look and just wander around to look at whatever I pleased. Friday is a great day to go because the crowd isn't as huge as it will be on Saturday and you can really walk around and get a good look at everything. I spent pretty much all of Friday looking at art and buying awesome goodies!

We got so many different art pieces but this one is one of my very favorites!

My Friday haul....Nerdy Nail Wraps, Supernatural Charm Bracelet, Piranha Plant Earrings, Key Necklace.

Saturday: This is always a big day at the Con and we knew it was going to be crowded. Kyra was with us this time but we were smart and brought the stroller so that she could take a break whenever she needed it. She was dressed as Rapunzel (after the haircut of course) and she loved all the attention she got for being such a cutie.

Amanda and I also dressed up. I wasn't in a full cosplay but I was in geek attire!
It was really fun to be dressed up and people kept complimenting my outfit which was really awesome.

There was also some truly amazing cosplay!

A pretty big chunk of my Saturday was spent waiting in line to meet Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy. We waited about an hour and a half but it was totally worth it!

He was so sweet and really tried to spend a few moments with each person even though is line was crazy long.

He also signed the box for my Draco Malfoy replica wand. Slytherins for Life!

Sunday: My parents came along with us this time. My mom wanted to get Barbara Eden's (I Dream of Genie) autograph and also Lou Ferrigno (The HULK). Dad just loves to go and see all the leather workers and prop makers. He is a super creative person and this just fuels his inspiration for new projects.

I also took some pictures with the Impala from Supernatural!

Kyra was an adorable Snow White this day. SO CUTE. Amanda and I took her down to the children's play section while the guys finished shopping and took more pictures.
She loved this tiny R-2.

She wanted to kiss the alien.

All in all this was another AMAZING year at Planet Comicon. It felt a lot bigger this year and I am sure that it will continue to grow. I love getting to see all the amazing artists and honestly just feeling like I am among my people. It might sound weird to some...but it is totally where my tribe lives and I am going to miss them...until next time.

Kansas City Comic Con 2015: Recap

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am doing my Kansas City Comic Con recap! I will be focusing mostly on the cosplay as that is my favorite part and the part I got the most pictures of! However I did want to first show you our purchases from the con that are both epic and awesome!

I had to have this. I mean seriously. What Harry Potter nerd wouldn't want this??

I love Ant Lucia. His Bombshell girls are some of my favorite works of art. Bobby actually picked up this deck of cards and Ant Lucia signed his favorite ones!!!
This is the shirt that Bobby got. Awesome Turtles.
This is the shirt that I got. Cute yes? Dragons are Charizard (Left), Toothless (top), and Spiro (Right)

Now the Con!

I was super happy right away when I found out that there were no wristbands involved! I loved having the little lanyard cards because 1) they are more comfortable 2) they are a souvenir! That was a HUGE plus in my opinion!

This was the first cosplay I saw at the con and honestly I knew right then that this day was going to be awesome. She played awesome by the way!

Then I had to get a snap of Kyra with the Supernatural boys! So Cute!

All in all I have to say that this con was much more laid back than Planet Comicon. That may have been since it was the first and I was only able to attend Saturday, but still there was a very different feel to this con. I really enjoyed how pleasant everyone was! The Artists were so happy to talk about their art, inspirations, and just about anything nerdy in general!

I personally did not meet any of the media guests since I was busy running around trying to catch cosplayers (and Kyra) my mom did meet Sean Austin and said that he was very kind and shook her hand when she met him. I love it when stars are just as nice in person as you imagine them to be!

Now I give you the Awesome Cosplay- I snapped a TON of photos and have spent the last few days getting them all together. I had to put them in collages so that I didn't bog down the page!  There is so much talent in these pictures!!!

I just want to say that I support Cosplay of all kinds, whether your costume is commissioned, handmade, or store bought. Whether you are a pro or it is your first time. I support it all. I think that cosplay is one of the best and most creative ways of showing how much you love a character. I appreciate everyone who takes that leap and dresses up to show their love. You all rock!

I am so very glad that I attended the Kansas City Comic Con this inagural year and I can't wait to make it a yearly tradition! Big Congrats to everyone that worked so hard to put it all together! You did a wonderful job!

Now for ACTUAL CREDITS, thank you to these lovely cosplayers that let me take their photos! I did not get the chance to get everyone's information (obviously), so if you see your photo or someone's photo that you know Please Comment Below! Also I couldn't find links for all but if you happen upon them please let me know so I can link properly! I want to make sure I give credit where it is due!

Chaos and Cosplay- A New Series

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am so happy to tell you about an exciting new series here on the blog!
Logo is obviously a work in progress...

If you have been following for a while you will know that I love all things Nerdy and most especially love all things Cosplay.

With that love in mind I decided that I wanted to write about Cosplay and all that goes with it. From tutorials on costumes that we (my family and myself) have made to interviewing other Cosplayers on their cosplays!

I am really excited about this series as this is a subject that I am truly passionate about. I will sit and talk costumes/tutorials/and cons for hours at a time and I am excited to share that passion with the blog!

I therefore, the prisoner for the Lord, appeal to and beg you to lead a life worthy of the divine calling to which you have been called with behavior that is a credit to the summons to God's service - Living as becomes you - with complete lowliness of mind (humility) and meekness (unselfishness, gentleness, mildness), with patience, bearing with one another and making allowances because you love one another. Planet Comicon Recap (Lots of pictures!)

Good Morning Everyone,

It is finally time for my Planet Comicon Recap!

This year we decided to do all three days and I was so glad that we did!

Friday:

We didn't get there until about mid afternoon but honestly that wasn't a problem at all. There weren't that many people there on Friday and that made it the perfect day to wander around and get to look at all the booths without the crowds. Also if you are wanting to meet a celebrity guest Friday is your day to go! We barely had to wait in line to meet the guests we wanted to see...and I super fangirled out. Seriously I have no chill and was totally starstruck by my favorite stars.
I met Chloe Dykstra (@Skydart) and she was so adorable and sweet and just lovely! One of my Cosplay idols!!!

Michael Rooker! Fans of Walking Dead know him as Merle. Guardians of the Galaxy fans know him as Yondu. He was so nice and sincere! He made fast friends with Kyra and was unbelievably talkative and fun to be around! He was amazing to his fans and we were happy to go through his line multiple times to get another chance to visit with him!

Saturday:

This is the big day for Cosplay which is honestly my very favorite part of the con. There were SO MANY amazing cosplays this year and these pictures don't even cover half of what was there as I didn't even see some of the ones that my brothers were raving about. However what I did see was truly awesome and inspiring. My youngest brother Dylan and of course Kyra were in full cosplay gear. Dylan looked amazing and his costume was completely homemade. Even the awesome helmet was created by my Dad and it turned out looking super professional...pretty much like all things my parents create.  I am fully convinced that cosplay is something that I need to do...I love every aspect of it and so admire those that create these costumes and then fully commit to the character that they are taking on. Here are just a few (honestly there was so much more):

My Brother's Cosplay---Sokka from Avatar the Last Airbender cartoon!

He found another group of Avatar Cosplayers!

And Another One!

Sunday:

Sunday was a bit off...mostly because of all the personal things that had gone on Saturday night, but we decided to go ahead and go for just the last two hours of the con. We scored some really great deals on artwork and ended up seeing a lot more cosplays than I actually expected. Sunday is much more mellow and quiet compared to Saturday and doesn't quite have the hype and excitement of Friday, but I still loved every minute of it because well...I love the Con.

All in all I have to say that this Con gets better and better every single year. It is growing and honestly I love that it is because as it grows more and more people are starting to see that it is totally okay to go out there and embrace your inner nerd!

My things for next year:
1) I will be cosplaying at least one of the days. Most likely Saturday.
2) I will plan better so that I can actually sit down at one of the panels
3) I will be buying the 3 day pass again, possibly the VIP
4) Clear sleeves and a binder for art. Also a poster roll for bigger pieces.
5) Mark favorite booths on Map to make sure I hit them first!

I would also recommend buying anything that you REALLY want on Friday. Things tend to get crazy on Saturday and you might find the item your really wanted totally sold out. Now that being said, if there is just something you would like but aren't really into the price and it isn't a "must have" item, then try and wait it out. Sunday and late Saturday are usually the best time for deals as they are trying to get stuff out the door.

So there is the recap for this year! I also plan on going to another con later this year and hopefully will be adding more and more con trips in the future! Hope you all enjoyed and be sure to check out any of your own local cons! It is SO MUCH FUN !!!
