Meditation App Review

I posted on Tuesday about how I've started Meditating and I mentioned that I would let you all know what apps I have been using and what worked for me. I was actually planning on posting this next Tuesday but since I had so much interest in what I was using I bumped it up!

All these apps are "free" apps that I found by searching the app store and also from reading meditation/mindfulness blogs. Reviews are my own and are not sponsored in any way.

So here's the list:

Stop. Breathe. Think.- This is by far my favorite meditation app. It asks you to check in each day and identify just what emotional state you are in. You select emotions from a lists and then it generates a list of meditations that will go along with what you are feeling. Whether you need to simply do a body scan to release tension or you simply want to find some gratitude for the things you should be grateful for, this is a really wonderful app. It has several selections for time and should you not like the generated list you can select a different option.

I also like that you get rewarded for checking in with a daily counter of your meditation streak. I'm a gold star kind of person and I love seeing my progress each day. Also you get stickers for completed meditations and time spent meditating which of course I love.

This app does have the option to purchase packages with more meditations but the packages run you around .99 cents. This doesn't bother me too much as I am still working through all the meditations that are free and I've been doing it since the beginning of January. However 99 cents isn't that much and I will most likely end up purchasing a few of the packages in the future.

Headspace- I really enjoyed this app. I love his voice. I love the ten meditations and how he explains how thoughts work in a way that makes sense to me personally. There were also animations that were very helpful and fun to watch before certain meditations to prepare you for the mediation itself. The app itself is free as are the first ten meditations.

This is where I get a little irritated with this app. The first ten meditations were amazing and free but you have to subscribe in order to continue. The subscription is $12.99 which is out of my budget for a monthly subscription. So while I very much enjoyed the app I won't be continuing with it.

Calm- This is also a guided meditation app. It is a good app if you just want to do a body scan and focus on each part of your body in order to release the tension in each step. Very relaxing right before bed though I will admit her voice isn't my favorite. I also like the option of changing the scenes if you aren't the type of person to close your eyes during meditation.

This app is good for when you just want to shake out the tightness in the shoulders and neck and back...that is if you tend to carry your stress in those places like I do! It also has the option of the 7 days of calm which is a great intro into meditation. I am still working with this one as it is the newest of the apps that I have started.

Take a Break- This app is not a guided meditation app and will link you to other apps. Not my favorite but the sounds are relaxing if you are into a white noise sort of meditation. It does have settings for length which would make it more ideal for breaks at work. I kept the app but I rarely use it. I might use it more if I were still working in an office setting however.

I hope you all found this review helpful and hopefully you find one of these that will suit you.

If you do end up trying them please let me know what you think! Also if you find one that you like that I didn't mention I would love to know and try more!

My Top Apps for Saving (and Making) Extra Cash!

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I wanted to share with you the Apps that I use in order to both save money and also make money!

I don't know anyone that isn't looking to add a little extra cash flow to their budget. The following apps are ones that I personally have used and have had success with in order to either save or to actually earn money!

1) Us Likey-  This is an app that is sort of like Instagram. You post pictures with hashtags and each week favorites are selected and given rewards! The hashtags are usually demos of your favorite items or just images from your weekend! Usually rewards are in the form of gift cards or (as in my own case) actual cash money! They use Gift Rocket as a transfer and payment can be sent directly and safely to your account! This one is only available for iPhone users currently but ever since installing it I have actually earned $75 dollars in the past month! Now that may not seem like a lot but to me that is a water bill payment! If you would like to try this one out my user name is chaosncocoa! If you mention me when you sign up I will get rewards but you for sure don't have to!

2) Target Cartwheel- I am pretty sure that a lot of people use this one but just in case you don't here is why you should! I always scan my items before checking out to see if there is a cartwheel on them and about 7 out of ten times there is one! Also cartwheels can be combined with coupons for even more savings! I know I always save at least a couple bucks each time I use my Cartwheel!

3) Walmart Savings Catcher- Walmart's answer to the Cartwheel. This app allows you to upload your receipt and then it scans nearby stores to see if you got the best deal. If another store had a better deal Walmart will give you the difference back on a gift card! The best part is you can keep adding up your savings until you reach a larger amount and then cash in the gift card! Now you don't have to drive to multiple stores which saves time and you still get a good deal!

4) Swagbucks- I use Swagbucks on multiple platforms but I have to say the app is the easiest. I just log in, get some points and log back out! Also you can launch the Swagbuck TV app and just let it run for a bit to earn some easy points! Points can be redeemed for all sorts of items but the best bang for your buck? Amazon $5 gift card! I payed for a huge chunk of Christmas last year by saving up all my gift cards that I earned through this one! I also get points for referral so again if you are so inclined click here! (You totally don't have to! It will not hurt my feelings one bit!)

Those are the top four apps that I see the most consistent savings and money making abilities in though I have tried plenty more! I was not a big fan of ibotta or of Checkout51 as I never seemed to be purchasing the items that they offered points on but you budget might be different from mine so I would still recommend you check them out for yourself!

I also just recently started using some apps that sync with my Vivofit so hopefully I will see some savings there soon!

Do you use apps for savings/money making? What are your favorites?

Favorite Apps for the iPad

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am bringing you my top 5 favorite apps for the iPad! (Psst...They are all FREE!)

I really love seeing these type posts and seeing what other apps people are using for two reasons:

1. New apps to find and download!

2. I'm nosy.

These apps are ones that I use if not on a daily basis then at least on a weekly one!

1. YouTube- Seriously I use this EVERYDAY. I have a Chromecast and I stream videos pretty much all the time. Love it.

2. Audible- I've I'm not watching then I am listening! I love having an Audible account. I listen to books every night as I go to sleep and Audible has THE BEST selection of audio books. I love that I can choose certain books from my library and listen to them and then take them off the iPad to add other ones from my library!

3. Overdrive- Now not every library offers this but you should immediately check to see if yours does! This app allows you to download audio books and ebooks FOR FREE from your local library! If you have a library card then you are good to go! You can also place items on hold and they will email you when they are ready to be downloaded! I love that the library is expanding into this area because honestly libraries and free books are the best thing ever!!

4. Flutter- Okay this is a game. It is a highly addictive game in my opinion, even if my husband thinks I am crazy for liking it. Basically you raise butterflies for your own little Amazon rainforest. Ever so often a new set of butterflies becomes available and you only have a set number of days to catch them. Butterflies have abilities and there are pretty flowers and....yeah addictive.

5. Pinterest- This one is obvious but honestly the iPad is the place that I use this the most. I love the ease of the app and love that it is portable for any time that I am bored or if the Kyra has fallen asleep on me and I can't get up and move around! Love you Pinterest!

So what are your top 5 apps? Am I missing out on something??

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

#Blogtober~ Favorite Editing Tools

Good Morning Everyone,

Today we are going to talk about favorite editing tools for your blog/instagram.

I'm gonna be real honest here...I only really got into editing things recently and therefore don't have a whole lot to offer but for the beginners I do have some helpful tools that I like to use pretty regularly.

Honestly my first choice when it comes to editing/creating things is always going to be Publisher. That is what I learned on first and is my favorite when it comes to creating fliers and other creative type things and I do occasionally us it for the blog and for newsletters. I used it a lot more when I was working full time but it still works for little blog projects.

Second for the blog is PicMonkey. This is such an easy editing tool and is great for making quick images for any type of blog series you might be doing or if you wanna make any type of collage or edited photo thing for the blog or even Facebook! Very user friendly and if you do decide to upgrade you get TONS more options but if you are a cheapo like myself you can still get a lot done on the freebie version!

Now Instagram and I are new acquaintances but on the rare occasion that I do edit a photo on there I like to use SnapSeed. It is pretty user friendly and lets you have a lot of options when it comes to editing your photos. Also it is free which is super awesome!
Also for a more silly editing tool I like to use PhotoWonder. You can add cool effects and silly images to your photos for days when you aren't taking your selfies too seriously!

I cannot wait to see what editing tools you all use because honestly I'm pretty basic around here! Looking forward to finding more things to play with!
