Kansas City Comic Con 2015: Recap

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am doing my Kansas City Comic Con recap! I will be focusing mostly on the cosplay as that is my favorite part and the part I got the most pictures of! However I did want to first show you our purchases from the con that are both epic and awesome!

I had to have this. I mean seriously. What Harry Potter nerd wouldn't want this??

I love Ant Lucia. His Bombshell girls are some of my favorite works of art. Bobby actually picked up this deck of cards and Ant Lucia signed his favorite ones!!!
This is the shirt that Bobby got. Awesome Turtles.
This is the shirt that I got. Cute yes? Dragons are Charizard (Left), Toothless (top), and Spiro (Right)

Now the Con!

I was super happy right away when I found out that there were no wristbands involved! I loved having the little lanyard cards because 1) they are more comfortable 2) they are a souvenir! That was a HUGE plus in my opinion!

This was the first cosplay I saw at the con and honestly I knew right then that this day was going to be awesome. She played awesome by the way!

Then I had to get a snap of Kyra with the Supernatural boys! So Cute!

All in all I have to say that this con was much more laid back than Planet Comicon. That may have been since it was the first and I was only able to attend Saturday, but still there was a very different feel to this con. I really enjoyed how pleasant everyone was! The Artists were so happy to talk about their art, inspirations, and just about anything nerdy in general!

I personally did not meet any of the media guests since I was busy running around trying to catch cosplayers (and Kyra) my mom did meet Sean Austin and said that he was very kind and shook her hand when she met him. I love it when stars are just as nice in person as you imagine them to be!

Now I give you the Awesome Cosplay- I snapped a TON of photos and have spent the last few days getting them all together. I had to put them in collages so that I didn't bog down the page!  There is so much talent in these pictures!!!

I just want to say that I support Cosplay of all kinds, whether your costume is commissioned, handmade, or store bought. Whether you are a pro or it is your first time. I support it all. I think that cosplay is one of the best and most creative ways of showing how much you love a character. I appreciate everyone who takes that leap and dresses up to show their love. You all rock!

I am so very glad that I attended the Kansas City Comic Con this inagural year and I can't wait to make it a yearly tradition! Big Congrats to everyone that worked so hard to put it all together! You did a wonderful job!

Now for ACTUAL CREDITS, thank you to these lovely cosplayers that let me take their photos! I did not get the chance to get everyone's information (obviously), so if you see your photo or someone's photo that you know Please Comment Below! Also I couldn't find links for all but if you happen upon them please let me know so I can link properly! I want to make sure I give credit where it is due!

Megustaguy as Deathstroke
Rouge Wench as Elvira
Nathanial Goodwin as Viking
Rabies Sew as Princess Anastasia

Some Late Confessions

Good Afternoon/Evening Everyone,

I am super late with my confessions today and also have been really MIA from the blog. I didn't mean to be but I am here now!

Here we go:

I confess that normally if I go MIA from the blog is it is because I am either feeling super down and don't want to spread the grump and gloom around or I am reading. In this particular instance it is both!

I confess that car trips suck. They make them look like awesome fun on TV and Movies but that is just a lie. Seriously they suck. Kyra was amazing, she was not the source of the suck. The source of the suck was the fact that she had her little TV going to keep her content and Bobby had his radio going AT THE SAME TIME. That is too much noise for a small space.

I confess however when Kyra fell asleep and I turned her TV off Bobby put on The Martian audiobook and that was awesome. I kept looking over at him during funny parts to see if he would laugh or react properly. I nearly gave myself whiplash. He reacted perfectly however and he is really enjoying the book.

I confess that when my Mom called me and told me she found the library books that I thought were lost I did a happy dance! I returned them this morning and got my money back! SO HAPPY!!

I confess that I have SNAPCHAT. Yep it is silly. Mostly I use it to follow/stalk my favorite YouTubers. If you are interested I do snap myself occasionally. I'm at chaosncocoa.

I confess that I save blogs to read for later and then usually binge on them when Kyra is napping or I am having a night of no sleep. So if you get comments on posts that are over a week old I promise I am not a creeper!

I confess that Bobby's birthday is this Saturday and I am kind of at a loss. We will probably go to dinner and I will try to get him something but the whole day is going to be kind of off since we are doing the memorial service for my grandfather. He passed months ago but this is out at the burial site and is just for the immediate family. I'm just not sure how I feel about all of it.....

I confess that even though all that is stressful I am still really excited that KC Comic Con is coming up in a few weeks. I won't be cosplaying but I do intend to still have a rocking good time. I CANNOT WAIT to take all kinds of photos and revel in my nerdy girl/fangirl side!

So that's it for me I will be back to normal posting now that I am out of the funk. Happy Humpday Everyone!

The Day of Confessions has arrived!

Good Morning Everyone!

It's good to be back and blogging again and what better way to get back into the swing of things than with a Confession Day Post!

Vodka and Soda

...I confess that after reading approx. twenty blogs in my backed up Bloglovin list I straight up marked them all as read and moved on. It was WAY too stressful to even think about going through and trying to comment on things that happened about four days ago. Sorry not sorry.

...I confess that even though I'm trying to eat healthy and do well, I still made chocolate chip zucchini bread. I ate three slices. Again sorry not sorry.

... I confess that I started watching Supernatural from the beginning again. Seriously I just love that show...but you all knew that right?

... I confess that I got super nerdy girl excited when the new Hobbit Teaser trailer came out. I CANNOT wait!

... I confess I got a little bummed but totally LOVED seeing all the Instagram photos from San Diego Comic Con this past week. SO many great cosplays and so many AMAZING artists! Some day I will go!

...I confess that teething is pretty much the worst part of life. My poor baby is just miserable lately with three new teeth coming in....not to mention it tends to just upset her poor little belly which means diaper rash which means...ugh it means that unless it is nap time or bed time pretty much no one is relaxed in this house.
...I confess that I cried a little when the first puppy was taken by his new family. Even though it was my neighbors....as in they live right next door. Like....the other side of the duplex next door. I'm such a baby. He is super happy though and his name is now Harley.

....I confess that I am really nervous/excited about my upcoming 5K! It's going to be awesome but I am just praying for an 80 degree day and not a 100 degree one! I will just have to keep this in mind at all times!

Okay that is it for me today! Have a great Wednesday Everyone!

Planet Comic Con Recap

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is the day I finally post my Comic Con Recap!

Basically the day started out with us getting ready. I did not dress up but my mom made a costume for Kyra and my youngest brother was going dressed up as well. So we all went to my other brother's apartment to get ready. He was doing all the special effects makeup and he lives the closest to where the convention was being held.

Dylan(my youngest brother) went as Two Face from the Batman comics/movies. My brother Brandon did all the effects makeup and my mom tailored the suit, combining two suits into one. It turned out awesome!

Kyra's costume was transformed from the onesie that we picked up on clearance a few weeks ago. She was a Totoro! If you do not know what Totoro is, it is a character from an amazing film of the same name by Hayao Miyazaki. It is an adorable anime and Kyra was adorable as the character! Also for all the moms that have watched Toy Story 3 a million times, the little girl Bonnie has a stuffed toy of Totoro!

Here are some pics!

After getting ready we headed to the convention. Luckily my husband has connections and we got a sweet parking spot. Then it was Convention Time! My favorite part is of course the Cosplay so here are the very talented Cosplayers!

(Our Super Heroes)

(All Hail Loki)

  (The Joke/Nurse, The Dark Knight)

(Odin the All Father)

( Two Face and Harley Quinn)

(Two Face and Catwoman)

(Two Predators, An Alien, and the creepy facegrabber alien thing)

There were so many other cosplayers but I have yet to get the other pictures loaded from my husband's phone. I utterly failed at picture taking because so many people kept stopping me to take pictures of Kyra in her costume!

All in all it was so much fun, we got some really great art as well too! If you are interested in my favorites let me know and I will gather up all the links to their websites, trust me there is some awesome stuff!

Okay now I'm off to have story time with Kyra, big hugs to everyone!

Friday Five

Good Morning Everyone!

It's Friday!!!!!!

Let's jump right in shall we?

One

Today is my brother's birthday! It is also Pi Day and Albert Einstein's Birthday! A good day all around! Anyhow my brother is celebrating his birthday by going on the free tour of the Boulevard Brewing Co. His awesome gf is taking him. She always finds the most fun things to do....and always for free or nearly free! I wish I was better at that....my husband would love to do this tour....why do I never think of these things? Fail.  Anyhow big wishes to my brother bear on this lovely Friday!

Two

Comic Con is tomorrow, and I am EXCITED. Seriously I cannot wait to go and see what everything this year. The art is amazing and I love to see the Cosplay. I will be taking my camera and taking lots of pictures and video of the day. There will be a post about it next week. If you are not into such things you have been warned, it will be a whole blog post and it will be nerd overload. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Three

Kyra is starting to display startling signs of INDEPENDENCE. She wants to do everything herself. She wants so badly to walk and you cannot turn your back for a second or she will be in whatever you just told her not to touch. I realize she is only 9 months and does not really understand what I am saying and is just curious but MAN OH MAN. Why do we teach children to be mobile? She is still a sweetheart though and is just a little cuddle bug of affection. Still...that independent side....oh she is gonna give Mama trouble when she gets older....

Four

My parents took Kyra all day yesterday. I got the entire day to myself and you know what I did? Super excitement....chores! I also took about an hour nap but couldn't lie there any longer once I  started going through the list of things to be done around the house. Do other people do this? Make lists while they lie in bed of all the things they need to get done with the knowledge that it will take much more than 24 hours to get it done and you will have no time in that 24 hours to get even half of the stuff done because other stuff will happen? I do this all the time....but I did get stuff done yesterday and today Kyra and I are spending the day playing in her room with toys and books and other fun things. Because it is Friday and we can!

Five

My dog Luna is a Fugitive from the Law! Not really...she escaped yesterday and I had to load up Kyra and drive around the neighborhood looking for her....only to find her cornered by the police! Luckily I live in a very small town and the officers knew me. I got Luna loaded up in the car and was not fined or anything...however she is now staying out at my parents' farm until the foreseeable future. She is not an town sized dog....she's um.....Marmaduke sized? I have no idea what type of dog she is other than very large and sweet....if a bit dim....and now a fugitive....seriously you can't make this stuff up.....

Well that is it for me this week, have a great weekend and for those going out to celebrate St. Patrick's Day early this weekend, be safe and have a DD!

Big Hugs!
