Planet Comicon 2016 Recap

This year was the first con that my bestie Amanda had ever gone to and on Thursday night she came up in early ready for the fun to be had Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Matt also came in Friday morning to spend the weekend and I was super excited to have our friends go with us and I was absolutely thrilled that it was Amanda's first con!

Friday: My mom offered to watch Kyra so that I could spend the day looking without having a little one to look after. It was really nice of her because I actually got to really look and just wander around to look at whatever I pleased. Friday is a great day to go because the crowd isn't as huge as it will be on Saturday and you can really walk around and get a good look at everything. I spent pretty much all of Friday looking at art and buying awesome goodies!

We got so many different art pieces but this one is one of my very favorites!

My Friday haul....Nerdy Nail Wraps, Supernatural Charm Bracelet, Piranha Plant Earrings, Key Necklace.

Saturday: This is always a big day at the Con and we knew it was going to be crowded. Kyra was with us this time but we were smart and brought the stroller so that she could take a break whenever she needed it. She was dressed as Rapunzel (after the haircut of course) and she loved all the attention she got for being such a cutie.

Amanda and I also dressed up. I wasn't in a full cosplay but I was in geek attire!
It was really fun to be dressed up and people kept complimenting my outfit which was really awesome.

There was also some truly amazing cosplay!

A pretty big chunk of my Saturday was spent waiting in line to meet Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy. We waited about an hour and a half but it was totally worth it!

He was so sweet and really tried to spend a few moments with each person even though is line was crazy long.

He also signed the box for my Draco Malfoy replica wand. Slytherins for Life!

Sunday: My parents came along with us this time. My mom wanted to get Barbara Eden's (I Dream of Genie) autograph and also Lou Ferrigno (The HULK). Dad just loves to go and see all the leather workers and prop makers. He is a super creative person and this just fuels his inspiration for new projects.

I also took some pictures with the Impala from Supernatural!

Kyra was an adorable Snow White this day. SO CUTE. Amanda and I took her down to the children's play section while the guys finished shopping and took more pictures.
She loved this tiny R-2.

She wanted to kiss the alien.

All in all this was another AMAZING year at Planet Comicon. It felt a lot bigger this year and I am sure that it will continue to grow. I love getting to see all the amazing artists and honestly just feeling like I am among my people. It might sound weird to some...but it is totally where my tribe lives and I am going to miss them...until next time.

For the Love of a Dog

My weekend unexpected took a turn starting Thursday. I had noticed that Kiya wasn't herself. She seemed tired and slow and I got worried. Then she wasn't eating her food. So I tempted her with some ground beef to see if she would eat that. Nothing. This was serious. My parents came over that afternoon to visit Kyra and my mom said to go ahead and take Kiya to the vet while they watched over Kyra.

The vet visit did not go well. Kiya had a very serious infection that would require surgery. My vet no longer does this kind of surgery and he referred me to several different vets in the area. I asked for a ball park figure on how much it was going to be....$2000-$3500..... and if she didn't have the surgery immediately she wasn't going to make it...like she wasn't going to make it to Monday even.

 I just started to cry.

I left the vet and immediately began calling all the vets nearby. My husband began calling as well. Finally we found one that would do the surgery that night and for a price that was more in our budget. Robert ran Kiya to the vet (about 50 minutes away) while I stayed home with Kyra. They said they would get her into surgery and call us once it was done.

It was so hard to wait and not know. Kiya is 9 years old.....what if she couldn't take the surgery? What if the infection had gotten too far? I was worried sick.

Finally they called. She made it through. They would keep her overnight and call in the morning. If she was okay through the night then I could pick her up.

I can safely say I did not sleep well.

Friday morning promptly at 8am they called to say she was doing fine. I was so so relieved!

Robert was actually leaving for the weekend so my parents offered to take Kyra and me up to pick Kiya up.

She was SO happy to see me! I was SO happy to see her!

She is doing so much better now even though she REALLY hates the cone of shame but I couldn't be happier with her care. They saved my little pup's life. I am just eternally grateful.

Now it's been a long weekend and I am pretty exhausted. Kyra also got some stomach bug over the weekend so I spent the whole time taking care of a sick little girl and a sore little pup. Lots of work...but lots of love too.

Weekend Recap: The one with a BIG announcement

Good Afternoon Everyone!

This post is going up later than I intended but honestly I am still playing catch up from the holiday and am a little overwhelmed. However better late than never!

Thursday: Happy Birthday to me! It was a great birthday this year. I spent the morning with Robert and Kyra and then the afternoon at my parents for Christmas and the evening with Robert’s Dad and Stepmom and family. It was a pretty busy day but it was also a lot of fun. I am really happy that everyone seemed to enjoy their gifts and of course LOTS and LOTS of amazing foods were eaten. We also received some really nice gifts and Kyra of course made out like a bandit.

How adorable is this cutie??

Friday: Merry Christmas! The morning was spent again with Robert and Kyra doing our little family Christmas.

She got a piano and LOVES IT. She really loves jumping up and down on it!

Then the afternoon was spent with Robert’s Mom and Stepdad and Grandfather. Again lots of good food and good fun.
There was also a pretty big announcement made on Christmas. If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook you have already seen this but if you haven’t….

That is right! Kyra is going to be a big sister! We are so excited to be adding another member to our family. It is still pretty early (about 6.5 weeks) and I know they advise against announcing early but honestly I can’t keep a secret at all. I told everyone about Kyra when I was only about two weeks along so really I did better this time! Either way we are all really happy and cannot wait to meet our new little one!

Saturday: My parents watched Kyra so that Robert and I could go and see Star Wars. I loved it. It was awesome and that is all I will say so as to avoid spoilers for those that haven’t seen. Although I will say this….HOW is Harrison Ford still so good looking??? Magic has to be involved…..

Sunday: Uber lazy day. I was feeling sick and Kyra just wanted to play with all her new stuff so it was a stay at home and relax day. We enjoyed every minute of it!

So there was a holiday weekend. How was everyone's?  Also HUGE THANK YOU to all those that sent Birthday wishes and Congratulations!

Happy Monday Everyone!

The Last one of November

Good Morning Everyone,

First off I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Whether you celebrated the holiday or not I still hope it was a weekend to remember.

Here's a few things that happened over our weekend:

My mom brought out some toys from when my brother's and I were kids. These are Zolo's and they are creative and awesome. Kyra loves them.

There were pedicures. Hot Pink of course.

I went crazy and made a million desserts.

I just realized it looks like this little guy is making a frowny face.....

There were only 8 of us at this Thanksgiving. P.S. I had never made Pecan, Pumpkin, or Coconut Cream Pie before. They turned out awesome.

My mom went all out. (as per usual)

My panorama went wonky and I kinda dig it.

And of course there were puppy dog antics- Chloe was the star this weekend.

Yes that is a cat toy on her head. We have no cats. Chloe just thinks she is a cat for some reason.

Again I hope you had a wonderful weekend. And look....tomorrow is the 1st of December!

Catching Up

Good Morning Everyone,

So I took a couple days off from the blog. It wasn't really intentional and I wasn't overly busy...I think perhaps I just needed to step back and breathe for a moment. I am really glad that I did because it gave me a chance to journal a bit and I actually planned out a couple future posts! Sometimes you just need a break!

Today I'm just going to give you the highlights from the past week because it is Monday and who wants to do any heavy reading on a Monday? Nope.

Here we go:

My husband loved his anniversary gift. He actually was thrilled it was a homemade gift! I will have a DIY up tomorrow!

My anniversary gift was awesome too! Chocolates and a gift card for makeup! This man knows me well.

These lovely irises are from my Mum's garden. They are just too beautiful. The deep purple black are by far my favorite and I actually had some in my wedding!

My leftovers from our night out. I love seafood....why do I not live near the ocean again?

This was a giant spider. I had no banana for scale but seriously. GIANT.
Also Demon Eyes.

Friday was spent at my parents' house taking silly selfies because they have better lighting than me. Also taking pictures of my dad and daughter being incredibly adorable.

Friday night was spent seeing PP2. It was corny and awesome. I loved it. Yes it was super silly. Yes some of it was straight up not believable. I didn't care. The music rocked and it was hilarious.

Saturday we took on the garage in prep for the upcoming garage sale. We freed ourselves of a pool table, a couch, a chair, and an ottoman. SO MUCH MORE ROOM! I can't wait to purge more! Also we found the Giant Spider again....

My parents were out and about the other day and saw a lady throwing out a Little Tykes slide and some chairs. My dad asked her about them and she gave them to him. She asked who the slide was for and dad explained it was for his granddaughter. She then told him she had something else he might like...and that is the story of how Kyra ended up with a Little Tykes playhouse...FOR FREE.

Sunday was spent doing laundry and cleaning. Then it was off to a surprise birthday party for one of our family friends. So much fun and she was VERY surprised! I have no pictures however because Kyra had not taken a nap and was keeping me busy. Also I was visiting and I prefer not to whip my phone out just for the sake of picture time. Sometimes you just gotta be in the moment!

So that is what has been going on here! I tried to catch up and comment on blogs Saturday night and hopefully I got to everyone! I will be back in action the rest of the week!

Happy Monday Everyone!

The Weekend Recap

Good Morning Everyone!

Let us begin with Thursday since that was technically the weekend beginning. Thursday was of course New Year's Day and I spent most of the morning attempting to get through to the Morphe site in order to get the Jaclyn Hill Favorites pallet. It was a struggle but I finally managed to snag one after about six hours of trying.

(Yes I am aware I have a problem) I also managed to make lots of new Twitter friends during the struggle that were also just as obsessive and crazy devoted and loyal as myself.

Thursday afternoon was filled with nerdy goodness as we went to see the final Hobbit movie. I loved it of course. Laughed, cried, got a little sad that the whole thing was over now, and of course made plans to have the most epic marathon when all the movies are released on DVD. It was a lot of fun and it had been a while since we had been to the movies!

( We didn't get to see this one but I really want a Baymax all the same!!)

Friday was a weird sort of day. I spent the beginning of the morning not feeling all that well but then started feeling okay so I started in on the cleaning up of the Christmas stuff. However after my brother in law brought me lunch I got really sick. I think it food poisoning because it only lasted the night but it was a rough night all the same.

One good thing was that the owners of the puppies came and picked them up. Yes I found the original owners! Sometimes Facebook is pretty handy. Anyhow they took three of the four little ones home. The fourth found a home at my brother in law's house and is now named Noelle since he found her on Christmas Eve!

Saturday was spent busy, busy, busy. We took down ALL the Christmas things and put them away. Also we completely rearranged the living room again now that there isn't a tree in it. It looks really nice and was a good way to get me ready for setting up the cleaning schedule I am starting today.
Cleaning a little bit each day (but not the Pinterest-prescribed amount) actually improved my life.
Saturday evening was spent hitting up the stores to restock the shelves as we are entering the real beginnings of winter around here. We got a bit of snow that night but nothing too major, but at least if we are snowed in here we won't have to resort to eating tree bark.

Sunday was an epic lazy day. The most I got done around the house was cooking and doing dishes. The rest of the day was spent watching season 7 of Big Bang Theory and pushing Kyra around in her Cozy Coupe. It was pretty awesome.

So there you have it, the weekend recap. How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting?

Tomorrow I'm going to be doing a review of an awesome gift that my husband got! Be sure to check it out!

Recap Madness

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Okay so this is going to be a quick post because the baby is asleep and I am trying to get caught up on housework and essentials today since it has been so crazy lately!

Basically the end of May and beginning of June is a really busy time of the year for our family. Tons of birthdays and family get togetherness!

Saturday~
Spent the morning get the house in order because my MIL was coming up early in the morning and then everyone else was coming over that afternoon because my BIL's birthday was the 29th and we were celebrating. The morning was spent at garage sales just looking. Did get Kyra a couple cute outfits but other than that not much to see. The afternoon was spent grilling, laughing, and celebrating. SO MUCH FOOD. It was a really great day and the evening was spent proving that we are terrible human beings while playing this game.....

If you have not played you for sure should. Hilarious. Wrong. You will learn things about yourself and other people that most likely you should never know....awesome.

Sunday~
Sunday morning was spent pretty mellow at first. Watched a movie on HBO "The Purge". It was a great concept for a movie but honestly it fell a bit short in the story line. There was so much potential! WASTED. Honestly I would write a fanfic exploiting the plot line to make it better but I really don't have that kind of time. It was a bad movie by any means but it seemed like they missed out on some really great scares/thriller moments.

After the movie we got a call from my other MIL and she told us that a local K-Mart was shutting down and everything in the store was 90-95% off. So we headed out there. Honestly by the time we got there it was pretty picked over. I did manage to score some stuff however and by the time we checked out we saved over 200 dollars on stuff. Clothes mostly but also some makeup items. If you wanna see what we got let me know in the comments, would be happy to do a video or post about it!

After standing in the epic line at the store we went to a birthday party for my cousin's twin girls. They turned 16 and we had another cookout. We didn't stay too long because by then Kyra was really tired and it was SO HOT.

After we left my Mum offered to watch the baby so that my husband and I could go to Sam's Club to pick up diapers, wipes, etc and also to see the new movie Maleficent. Sleepy Beauty is my favorite Disney movie and my parents had already seen the movie and mom knew I would love Maleficent. So after getting refreshed at the house we dropped off the baby and went out.

The movie was AH-MAZING. Seriously it was so beautifully done and any doubts about Angelina being able to pull off such an iconic villain was put to rest. I adored the movie and watch to watch it so many more times. Will be purchasing!

So that was the recap of the weekend. It is going to be another really busy week this week, with Kyra's 1st birthday coming up and just general madness that is summertime! I will try to work on the rest of my posts for the week tonight and possibly do a couple of videos as well!

Hugs from here!

A Long Weekend

Good Morning Everyone!

Sorry about bein MIA yesterday but since it was my husband's and my anniversary I thought I would take the day off from blogging. Also I did not have power until like 9am and did not have internet until like 11 an by noon I was headed out the door, so....you know there was that too!

This past weekend was a busy one, Saturday we spent the day making stepping stones for Mother's Day for my mom's garden. Mine turned out pretty awesome actually and I will have a picture of it later as the only one I have is on my phone and it is pretty awful quality. However the stone turned out really great and that is awesome because it made my mom happy.

Sunday was of course Mother's day and it was my first official Mother's Day! My husband was awesome and got breakfast and then took Kyra and I out for the day. We went to outdoor mall because the day was beautiful and we showed Kyra the huge fountain that they have in the center of everything. We put her feet in the water and she thought that was just hilarious. Also she really loves being outside. I am going tot have to start incorporating more walks into our days because she really enjoys the stroller and being out in the air. Now if the weather would cooperate more then we would be all set!

Speaking of walking, my Auntie did her first 5K on Mother's Day! She is awesome. She even finished under her time goal! It's got me all pumped for when we do our 5K this August! I've never done an official one and I am really excited now!

So Monday was my anniversary. My husband and I have been married for 2 years (together for 11). Our first anniversary was not all that fun. We lost one of our best friends and his memorial service was the day before our anniversary. Also he was the one that performed our ceremony and married us the year before. It was heartbreaking...

This year we had a much better time though! My husband took a half a day at work and my parents took Kyra. So we got the whole afternoon together! We went to the Cheesecake Factory for lunch/dinner. We had never been before and it was AWESOME. The portions were so huge though, we ended up with a lot of leftovers. Oh and the cheesecake.....I had the pineapple upside down cheesecake and it was AH-MAZING. Pineapple Upside down cake is one of my favorites of all time. We even had Pineapple upside down cupcakes at our wedding reception!

After lunch/dinner we went to see the new Spider-man movie. It was okay.....just really long.

All in all it was a really nice afternoon with my husband and I hope to have many more like it!

So that was my very long (and long winded) weekend! I will be back to posting like normal now for the rest of the week. Also I will have a new video up on Youtube here in just a bit! Please check it out and hit the Thumbs Up button if you like it and if you can please Subscribe! It goes a long way to making the channel relevant and honestly.....it is helping me contribute to the household!

Big Hugs to everyone, hope you are having a great week so far!
