The One with the First Weekend of April

Well hey there. It's been more than a hot minute since I posted a blog. I have no excuses it just didn't happen in March. I'm going to try and do better this month.

Friday: The little dogs were WAY overdue for a grooming appointment and so it was their day to get done. They were pretty matted up so shaved it is! That was fine with me because that means it will take longer for their hair to grow and honestly they seem so much happier and lighter without all that hair. I do have to knit some sweaters for them however because it is still chilly on our morning walks.

Saturday: Rainy and chilly out so Robert and Kyra watched movies all day while I got some work done. After that it was basically all Netflix and some awesomely delicious meatball subs that I made but forgot to snap a picture of because honestly I'm just the worst blogger ever.

Sunday: After spending all day Saturday in we decided to get out and about. We headed out for a late brunch and then the mall. Kyra got to meet the bunny at Build A Bear which was honestly way cooler looking than the actual Easter Bunny that was there for pictures. They let me take a picture but Kyra was pretty unsure of the whole situation. Still super cute though.

Well we walked around for a bit and I basically window shopped because while I looked at a ton of things I walked out with nothing. Which is pretty much par for the course. Although they did have a Sephora and I was sorely tempted to stock up on some items but I resisted because I am in a spending freeze until Comic Con later this month. However we did get to meet this adorable Great Pyrenees puppy that seemed to really adore Kyra.

After the mall we just kind of drove around (aka Robert drove me to places to catch Pokemon) and then headed home. It was an exciting night however because we watched my brother in law win the Madden 2017 Challenge! It was streaming live and it was absolutely awesome to see him win! I realize most of my readers are not gamers but just know that this was a HUGE deal and we are super proud of him!
He's the one on the left!

All in all it was a pretty quiet weekend! Hope you all are well and here's to getting back to blogging again!

Sometimes Life is Hard

I'm exhausted.

This year is just one of those years.

I am not trying to complain, because as they say it can always be worse and honestly I live a very lovely life in general.

However this year is testing me.

There have been some difficulties as most of you know.

This week is another rough week.

My Mom's dog Lilly is sick.

She has Pulmonary Lung Disease.

We thought she just had a cough...possibly a cold.

Now they say that she might live about 6 months with pills and treatment. She might live longer than that...she might not.

Of course my Mom is heartbroken. I'm heartbroken. Lilly is my dog Kiya's sister. From the same litter and everything.

That is the hard cold truth of having dogs. You will out live them 90% of the time. It's hard EVERY SINGLE TIME. We even tell ourselves we won't take any more dogs in because it is just so hard to say goodbye...

But there are so many dogs that need love and when another comes along we love them any how...and we weep when it is their time to go.

Tomorrow my Mom gets to bring Lilly home from the Vet and hopefully we will get the full six months with her. If we don't at least she will be home and surrounded by a family that loves her so much.
so true....IDK if i die before my babies...makes my cry to even think about it...who would take care of them?:

For the Love of a Dog

My weekend unexpected took a turn starting Thursday. I had noticed that Kiya wasn't herself. She seemed tired and slow and I got worried. Then she wasn't eating her food. So I tempted her with some ground beef to see if she would eat that. Nothing. This was serious. My parents came over that afternoon to visit Kyra and my mom said to go ahead and take Kiya to the vet while they watched over Kyra.

The vet visit did not go well. Kiya had a very serious infection that would require surgery. My vet no longer does this kind of surgery and he referred me to several different vets in the area. I asked for a ball park figure on how much it was going to be....$2000-$3500..... and if she didn't have the surgery immediately she wasn't going to make it...like she wasn't going to make it to Monday even.

 I just started to cry.

I left the vet and immediately began calling all the vets nearby. My husband began calling as well. Finally we found one that would do the surgery that night and for a price that was more in our budget. Robert ran Kiya to the vet (about 50 minutes away) while I stayed home with Kyra. They said they would get her into surgery and call us once it was done.

It was so hard to wait and not know. Kiya is 9 years old.....what if she couldn't take the surgery? What if the infection had gotten too far? I was worried sick.

Finally they called. She made it through. They would keep her overnight and call in the morning. If she was okay through the night then I could pick her up.

I can safely say I did not sleep well.

Friday morning promptly at 8am they called to say she was doing fine. I was so so relieved!

Robert was actually leaving for the weekend so my parents offered to take Kyra and me up to pick Kiya up.

She was SO happy to see me! I was SO happy to see her!

She is doing so much better now even though she REALLY hates the cone of shame but I couldn't be happier with her care. They saved my little pup's life. I am just eternally grateful.

Now it's been a long weekend and I am pretty exhausted. Kyra also got some stomach bug over the weekend so I spent the whole time taking care of a sick little girl and a sore little pup. Lots of work...but lots of love too.

The Last one of November

Good Morning Everyone,

First off I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Whether you celebrated the holiday or not I still hope it was a weekend to remember.

Here's a few things that happened over our weekend:

My mom brought out some toys from when my brother's and I were kids. These are Zolo's and they are creative and awesome. Kyra loves them.

There were pedicures. Hot Pink of course.

I went crazy and made a million desserts.

I just realized it looks like this little guy is making a frowny face.....

There were only 8 of us at this Thanksgiving. P.S. I had never made Pecan, Pumpkin, or Coconut Cream Pie before. They turned out awesome.

My mom went all out. (as per usual)

My panorama went wonky and I kinda dig it.

And of course there were puppy dog antics- Chloe was the star this weekend.

Yes that is a cat toy on her head. We have no cats. Chloe just thinks she is a cat for some reason.

Again I hope you had a wonderful weekend. And look....tomorrow is the 1st of December!

My Life in Dogs

A Lot of People Love Dogs.

Oh so true

I mean who wouldn't love a dog? They are so cute and loveable. They love unconditionally. I mean they are Man/Woman's best friend right?!

To most people loving dogs means they might live with 1 or 2....sometimes even 3....

So what do you call a person that lives with 14?

Obsessed?

Crazy?

Totally Mad?

Yep. That's Me.

There's always room for one more...
Now to be fair...I come from a long line of Crazy Dog Ladies. We are not as well known as the Crazy Cat Ladies but I like to think that is because we aren't really Crazy. We just have big hearts that cannot say no!

My Great Aunt left this world having 15 dogs at home. Another Aunt had 10. My mom currently has 5.

Now, I no longer live with 14 dogs. I am down to a reasonable (for me) 4 dogs (one of which I am dog sitting and isn't actually mine). The other 9 have found happy homes and are all doing well.

There were ten puppies. Adorable little balls of fluff that I watched come into this world via my dog Luna. This was an unexpected pregnancy and it will be Luna's only as she will be fixed as soon as the vet clears her, but even as unexpected as it was...I was thrilled. I love puppies. I mean who doesn't?? (Small side note: We did lose one puppy in the early weeks...it was heartbreaking...)

Still I want to be VERY clear....puppies....and the additional dogs are a lot of work!

This is what your day looks like when you have this many dogs...

AM- The dogs are up before the baby is, the big ones all need to go outside and the little ones are up and wanting to play and wanting to be fed as well. The big dogs get walked, fed and watered before I go down to the garage where half of it has been turned into a puppy kennel. I open the doors to let in the sunlight and hose out the kennel. The pups are weaned from Luna now and that means they are on puppy food. This means twice as much poop as before. Guess who gets to clean it up? Yep that is me. Crazy dog lady.
After getting the kennel spotless, I grab the bedding the pups have been sleeping on and get it to the laundry to be cleaned. I refill the water and food dish and lay out new bedding for the puppies. They immediately dump the water dish so I have to fill it again and destroy the neat bedding getting it all wadded up within the first few seconds. I leave them to it and go upstairs to my now playful 1 year old that is ready for breakfast and the morning dance party.

Afternoon- It is walk time again for the big dogs. Also I check in on the puppies and it is time to hose out the kennel again. Also they have eaten all the food and either drank or dumped the water dish again. I clean it all up and switch the bedding yet again. Another load of laundry. You have to keep this up in order to keep the kennel from smelling and also it is the beginning stages of potty training. Fresh bedding means they won't potty there. Also they won't potty near the food, leaving only one corner for potty purposes. Trust me, this makes potty training much easier for the new owners if the owner of the mother does this! We also have play time where I throw out a bunch of toys to them, play tug of war, and roll the ball eleventy billion times.

Evening- Big dog walk again and they get their second feeding (they are on a schedule, except for Luna who is still getting supplements and the like to get her back to her weight after nursing ten puppies for 8 weeks) I once again hose out the kennel and put out fresh food and bedding for the pups. They are playful but sleepy by now and I let Luna in with them and they all pile up on the bedding ready for bed. My heart melts a little.

This was my typical day while all the puppies were living with me. It was tough and sometimes I was not super happy about it. I mean I have a 1 year old that needs my attention too...she needs to be fed, played with, diapers changed, and cuddles given. It was a LOT of work and very expensive buying SO MUCH DOG FOOD...but by the end of the day...I felt the same way putting them to bed as I do when my daughter snuggles in next me at night. Just a warm heart and fuzzy feelings. I love my dogs.

The puppies are gone now. Each going to a new home and a new guardian. Each guardian's number is in my cell phone so I can keep up with them and the puppy's progress. Happy to report most are almost potty trained fully and are growing and happy and healthy. I cried after each one left...I just couldn't help it, but I know they will be loved. Also the remaining four are so happy they are gone LOL!

Here were the nine....

Thursday Randoms

Good Morning Everyone!

First off, you all rock! I was jumping up and down with joy at each and every comment yesterday! The Emperor was a huge hit and I am so glad you all enjoyed!!! Also if you were looking to make my whole week brighter well....

Okay so today I didn't really have a post planned so I thought I would do a bit of random that is going on in my life.

1) My daughter has fallen in love with these socks. They are my workout socks (and they are clean BTW) and for some reason she has taken to carrying them around the house. Weird.

2) I got a hat (actually my Mom bought it for me). I have no idea why other than it looked good on me. I don't know where I am going to wear it. I love it anyways.

3) I had no idea that Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist was a book first. I grabbed it at the library, so far am really loving it!

4) I am debating on doing a post about what it is like to have 8 dogs in the house. It's madness basically, but still funny. Also I totally want to keep a puppy....but SHH don't tell.

5) I actually managed to get through my Blog Lovin' Feed and comment on some blogs!

Okay that's it for me today! Happy Thursday Everyone! Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!

Friday Five

Good Morning Everyone!

It's Friday!!!!!!

Let's jump right in shall we?

One

Today is my brother's birthday! It is also Pi Day and Albert Einstein's Birthday! A good day all around! Anyhow my brother is celebrating his birthday by going on the free tour of the Boulevard Brewing Co. His awesome gf is taking him. She always finds the most fun things to do....and always for free or nearly free! I wish I was better at that....my husband would love to do this tour....why do I never think of these things? Fail.  Anyhow big wishes to my brother bear on this lovely Friday!

Two

Comic Con is tomorrow, and I am EXCITED. Seriously I cannot wait to go and see what everything this year. The art is amazing and I love to see the Cosplay. I will be taking my camera and taking lots of pictures and video of the day. There will be a post about it next week. If you are not into such things you have been warned, it will be a whole blog post and it will be nerd overload. Sorry I'm not sorry.

Three

Kyra is starting to display startling signs of INDEPENDENCE. She wants to do everything herself. She wants so badly to walk and you cannot turn your back for a second or she will be in whatever you just told her not to touch. I realize she is only 9 months and does not really understand what I am saying and is just curious but MAN OH MAN. Why do we teach children to be mobile? She is still a sweetheart though and is just a little cuddle bug of affection. Still...that independent side....oh she is gonna give Mama trouble when she gets older....

Four

My parents took Kyra all day yesterday. I got the entire day to myself and you know what I did? Super excitement....chores! I also took about an hour nap but couldn't lie there any longer once I  started going through the list of things to be done around the house. Do other people do this? Make lists while they lie in bed of all the things they need to get done with the knowledge that it will take much more than 24 hours to get it done and you will have no time in that 24 hours to get even half of the stuff done because other stuff will happen? I do this all the time....but I did get stuff done yesterday and today Kyra and I are spending the day playing in her room with toys and books and other fun things. Because it is Friday and we can!

Five

My dog Luna is a Fugitive from the Law! Not really...she escaped yesterday and I had to load up Kyra and drive around the neighborhood looking for her....only to find her cornered by the police! Luckily I live in a very small town and the officers knew me. I got Luna loaded up in the car and was not fined or anything...however she is now staying out at my parents' farm until the foreseeable future. She is not an town sized dog....she's um.....Marmaduke sized? I have no idea what type of dog she is other than very large and sweet....if a bit dim....and now a fugitive....seriously you can't make this stuff up.....

Well that is it for me this week, have a great weekend and for those going out to celebrate St. Patrick's Day early this weekend, be safe and have a DD!

Big Hugs!
