Confessions: Back to Life

Well I confess that blogging on a schedule went out the window. We came down with an awful sickness. I mean it was terrible. We were all down and out for a week and we still have a bit of the cough lingering. Also by down I mean DOWN. We spent the entire time in bed, coughing and aching and miserable. I wouldn't wish this sickness on anyone. 

I confess that during the time I was down I spent a large chunk of time watching YouTube and found one channel that I was obsessed with, FACTS. Basically it is Irish people trying things and it sounds boring but it is HILARIOUS. 

I confess our Valentine's Day consisted of getting Kyra a gift, giving each other some hilarious but simple cards, and eating Taco Bell. #notsorry #itwasamazing 

I confess we did go out for Chinese on Monday night instead because guess what? No crowds on the day before Valentines. #notapeopleperson 

I confess that I though about blogging a LOT during my sickness and kept meaning to bring my laptop to the bed and type while I sat there in misery but honestly I just felt so completely shite that I never did it. 

I confess that I've been debating changing up the blog layout lately as well. I like this layout but I feel like it's really impersonal and just kind of ....blah? I dunno, maybe I'm just ready for a change.

Friday Five 4/1

1. It's been a bit of a rough week around here. Kyra and I have been sick all week. It's just a cold but it is a miserable kind of cold. Lots of coughing, hacking, sneezing as well as running a slight fever. Around last Friday I knew I was going to get sick but I didn't expect it to be the kind of sickness that sticks around and lingers and spreads to literally everyone. So Kyra and I have spent the whole week pretty much on the couch and attempting to get better. 

2. One of the things I really hate about getting sick is that I can't seem to get anything done. I have laundry piled up and the floor needs vacuumed, etc. etc. It only makes me feel worse knowing that not only am I a wreck but my house is as well. 

3. Also I should get better about having posts in the draft pile that I can just publish when I cannot seem to get any writing done. This whole week was a big SKIP because I didn't have anything ready to go other than my confessions post. I wish I were more prepared. Something to work on. 

4. Instagram is now infuriating. Notifications Suck. Stop being stupid.

 

5. We bought our tickets for Planet Comicon! Our friends are coming as well and for one of them it will be their first con ever! I'm so excited to go and am debating whether or not I want to Cosplay....of course I debate this every year but usually back out due to either not being able to decide or my own mental hangups about how I look. Maybe this year will be the year I take the plunge.

My stages of sickness

This post comes to you late in the day because I am in fact...sick. 

It's just a cold and I know that I got it from Kyra who was sick with it just a few days ago but now she is feeling a million times better and I'm the one that is down and out. Thankfully she got about a million new movies for Christmas so she is happily entertained while I lay here in a germ haze on the couch trying to motivate myself into doing something. This blog is that something today.

Since I am sick I would share with you the stages of sickness. Fun huh? 

I wake up....(it always happens in the morning first thing....) 

 Throat feels scratchy. HOT TEA. I need HOT TEA. 

Oh god I cannot breathe out of my left nostril. Where is the Vicks?! 

 Is it cold in here? Where are the blankets? I'm hungry....

What is that wheezing noise? Is....is it coming from me????

*Sneeze*Hack*Cough*  Where are the tissues???? HOW DID WE USE UP TWO BOXES OF TISSUES IN TWO DAYS??

Well....the hot tea and grilled cheese was nice going down but apparently Morning Sickness had other ideas. Now feel like a hollowed out pumpkin. 

Kyra: Mommy sick? I kiss it. All better? -----She is the absolute sweetest.

Hello, I'm Sick

Good Morning Everyone, 

So over the weekend I managed to get sick. Of course because I am a good blogger and super organized I totally had posts scheduled and ready to go. Wait....no I didn't. 

So obviously I had posts in draft that I could just select and publish those right? 

Yeah I didn't think that sounded like me either. 

So instead I am completely behind on comments, haven't read any blog posts, and of course had to whip this post up on Tuesday morning because I gave Monday a complete miss. ( I am SO sorry! I will respond to your comments I promise!) 

I wanted to post yesterday but every time I looked at a computer my head started to swim. Also I was catching up on all the things that didn't get done over the weekend because I was down and out. It took literally hours to do all the dishes, laundry, vacuuming, dusting, etc. Adding in time to cough, sneeze, and generally wheeze about. I wish I could have just left it all until I felt better but I couldn't look at the dishes for another minute in my sink. 

So today I will be working on catching up reading blog posts and responding to comments. At least I will for as long as I can before my head starts swimming again. (I think I have a mild ear infection as well.)

Confession~ Sick Day Edition

Good Morning Everyone,

I am finally starting to shake the cold and Kyra seems to be feeling a lot better as well so hopefully we have finally got this thing out of our house!

Now that we are on the mend I am ready to get some Confessions out there! 

Here we go: 

1) I am usually a pretty big baby when I am sick, however now that I am a mom I don't really have that luxury anymore, it was a bummer and honestly if I had known that my sickness would be so ignored I would have milked all previous illnesses for all they were worth! 

2) When I am sick I always look a little bit like death. I try to play it off though...sorta....

3) I used to be one of those people at work that viewed "sick days" as basically just personal days that required me to cough into the phone a couple times when I called in....I'm sorry but when the sick days WAY out number the vacation days what do you think is going to happen??

4) The most sick I have ever been was when I was pregnant. I had morning sickness and caught the flu at the same time. I was nearly put into the hospital due to dehydration but I forced myself to down fluids as fast as they were coming out because I hate IVs SO MUCH. 

5) Seeing your kid sick and not being able to help is possibly one of the worst things ever. Listening to her wheeze at night and not be able to breathe properly freaking tugged my heartstrings....

6) You know that saying "starve a fever, feed a cold" ? Yeah that's me. For some reason when I have a cold all I want to do is EAT. Comfort food is always my downfall....

7) While I want to eat all the things, I have NO desire to cook anything....therefore usually end up eating my weight in crackers....

8) I get obsessive about washing ALL. THE. THINGS. when we are sick. Seriously I wash the bedding every day and vacuum like a crazy person. You have to get the germs out!!! 

9) I have no less than three vaporizers going in the house. Not even sorry. 

10) All that being said....I really loved the extra cuddle time that Kyra and I had. She is a real snuggler when she doesn't feel well and I was all too happy to curl up with her!

Monday Meme~ Moms can't get sick!

Good morning everyone, 

I have managed to catch the cold my husband brought home last week, Kyra has it as well, so that is Super Fun. I basically feel like my nose is a faucet but also so congested that my brain is threatening to explode from the pressure. I took care of my husband last week doing all I could to make him feel better...his advice to me? Just go lay down and rest! 

REST?! 

Is he joking? Oh sure I will just go take a nap whole our one year old takes care of herself, the chores, and the dogs shall I?! Ugh.

Wednesday-Blog Hop/Confessions Edition

Good Morning Everyone,

It is days like today that I am thankful I don't film a whole lot of videos. I have a cold and my voice sounds like I am attempting to speak whale. Not pleasant.

Today I thought in addition to doing the normal Wednesday Blog Hop I would also do the Wednesday Confessions! I saw these on the blog Vodka and Soda and I must have been living under a rock lately because these posts are hilarious how have I been missing them?? Thus now I want to jump in there with my own confessions because well....everyone loves to know the down and dirty don't they? Does anyone else sing Usher's song "Confessions" every time that see that word? No, Just me? Figures.

 

1) You know the saying " Starve a Fever, Feed a Cold" ? Yeah I did that in full force yesterday. Seriously I felt like a bottomless pit of hunger and misery with this cold and the fact that mom's don't get a sick day.

2) I put my vacuum cleaner in "time out" yesterday. I cleaned the thing out, put it back together and then when I go to use it, it clogs again and this time the belt starts to smoke.......fail. So I took the thing outside and told it that it could face the music when my husband got home.

3) I have watched Billy Crystal's special  700 Sundays on HBO GO three times now. It is so hilarious and heart wrenching. He's Awesome.

4) I do not get Twitter and Instagram. Honestly I just don't get them....maybe I'm the weirdo but it just seems like they took the worst parts of Facebook and made them their own things....also Facebook. UGH. Sick of it. Pinterest holds my heart. You can follow me here if you like. I pin cool things.

5) I don't know how to work my brother's fancy camera....so it just sits there in the bag looking sad. I suck at photos.

 

6)  I'm a fangirl. SUPERPOTTERLOCK FOR LIFE! And those aren't the only ones.... Why?
