Weekend Rambly Stuff

Good Morning Everyone,

Apparently it is June 1st already. Half the year is gone. I have no idea why it is that time is flying by so quickly but here we are.

Though despite how quickly the year is going last week seemed to drag on and on....actually the week was a bit of a mess for me but that is a whole other thing.

I didn't get around to doing my garage sale this past weekend. I just couldn't seem to get everything together in order to get it out there in time. I'm not too worried about it however as it rained pretty much the entire weekend. There will be another weekend I'm sure.

What we did get accomplished on Saturday was a lot of wandering around looking for inspiration on what to get Kyra for her birthday. Mostly just a lot of this happened.

Also we managed to get Bobby some new shorts which I pointed out he needed because the ones he was wearing were started to get a hole in them. He fought at first but thankfully we were able to find some that he liked at Kohls. Win.

I however found absolutely nothing despite trying many things on. Fail.

Sunday morning was spent doing the grocery shopping. It actually wasn't too bad because:
1) I had a list
2) We left super early in the morning and beat the crowd.

We were back home by 10am and I was SO happy about it!

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing laundry, meal planning, and playing endless rounds of blocks/coloring/My Little Pony with Kyra. We also got caught up on all our Hulu Shows during this process.

All in all it was a really nice afternoon and I tried to let myself relax and enjoy myself instead of worrying about what I had to do this week. Of course it all caught up with me about midnight last night and I spent the next two hours in a state of anxious stress until finally passing out from sheer exhaustion. So you know...the normal.

The reason for the stress is this week is going to be a busy one since Kyra's birthday is this Friday!

Two years have flown by...seriously they warn you about this when you get pregnant but you aren't really prepared....

Anyhow so I will be spending the week getting my house in order before her party on Saturday and honestly I'm already freaking out about it. I'm sure it will be fine but honestly worrying has become one of my best skills.
.

Now on I'm off to get started on excessive cleaning that I've convinced myself the house needs. Pray for me.

Domestic Goddess: Level Noob

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to the Weekend!!!!

I am continuing on with my 28 posts in 28 days madness today to bring you a post about my vacuum.

Yes I am writing a post about my vacuum.

If you have been here a bit you will know that I am trying to get better at being a better housekeeper/hausfrau/domestic goddess. I am starting at the basic level here to be sure.

Well I got things rolling with starting a cleaning schedule. I love my cleaning schedule. Seriously one of the best decisions ever.

There was one issue with it however. The issue was my vacuum. Now I don't mind vacuuming. It isn't my favorite chore to be sure but it doesn't bother me. However my vacuum had developed a nasty habit of shocking me every time I used it. Not just static shock, but actual swearing and jumping up and down kind of shock. It was time for a new one.

Now I had read Steph's post about her love of her vacuum. I was intrigued and if you know anything about me I LOVE a good product review. The vacuum is the Shark Navigator Lift Away Deluxe and it is a pretty pricey item as far as vacuums go, however I really wanted something that would last.So after some serious deliberation I bought the amazing vacuum.

LIFE CHANGED.

I'm not kidding. This vacuum is so amazing. It is lightweight, it is easy to use, it works for going up and down the stairs....I am in love with it. I have vacuumed multiple times in one day...I have vacuumed multiple surfaces in one day. That is love.

Now you may think this is silly but I am about to share a picture with you that will change your mind. You see I vacuumed once a day every day even before I got the new vacuum. I thought my floors were clean. Now those that are easily disgusted please scroll past this picture.

I almost didn't share this with you it was so gross...but I wanted you to see first hand how well this thing works.

I am equal parts horrified and impressed by this picture. Leaning more toward horrified. This was the first run around the living room. SO GROSS.

I am happy to report that now after multiple runs across the floor the intake can has never been this gross again. My floors are visibly cleaner (dog hair is now at a minimum.) and they actually feel softer and fluffier. I am so impressed and happy with this vacuum. Honestly it was probably the smartest home tool purchase I have done in a LONG time.

I think I have just leveled up from Basic to Noob. High Fives all around.

Vacuuming has become so popular around here that even Kyra is getting in on the action.

Happy Weekend Everyone.

Confessions 1/28

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome to Confession Day!

Today I confess:

That I totally enlisted my Mom and Brother to help me overhaul the finished portion of my basement and also help me totally redo my bedroom. It was totally worth it because now both rooms look AMAZING!

I confess that after setting up my vanity area and my mom gave me the go ahead to get a new setup I immediately started searching Pinterest for ideas. I love the little vanity that she gave me years ago but this makeup junkie needs more storage....

I confess that while we were working our little booties off I had put a roast in the oven and by the time Bobby got home it was done and falling off the bone. IT WAS SO GOOD.

I confess that I will be doing a post next week about my new vacuum. Steph if you are reading this....THANK YOU!!!!!!

I confess that I have lived here for nearly four years and never put up curtains in my bedroom....Thanks Mom.

That's it for me this week be sure to join the linkups and 'fess up!!!

The Wonders of a Cleaning Schedule

Good Morning Everyone,

Apologies for the delay in getting this post up. I had planned on working on it yesterday but we had some family stuff come up. Thus I didn't get to work on it until this morning and this morning has been chaos as per normal but finally I am getting to sit down and type this out. Though my time is limited as Kyra will be done with her breakfast shortly!

So last week I decided that I would try out a cleaning schedule.

I've always kind of thought those were silly and unneccessary. I mean really? You need a schedule for the "at home" stuff too? I'm not sure why but the whole thing just seemed really ridiculous.

However I have now changed my tone!

Since I had Kyra and been a stay at home mom I've noticed that while I have the best of intentions in getting things done more often than not I only end up with a bunch of half finished projects and nothing is ever really "completed".  So as the new year began I thought I would go ahead and give a cleaning schedule a shot, I mean a lot of other bloggers swear by them so why not?

I ended up checking Pinterest for schedules and there were literally THOUSANDS of them. Seriously you can just get really overwhelmed by all the choices. However I did finally settle on one that I thought would work for me via the Fresh Mommy Blog.

I chose this one simply because it looked very simple and to the point. Although my dishwasher hasn't worked in months so I just have to do them by hand. Ah well anyhow last Monday I started the week.

OMG.

Before I started this I would always have too many things going. With the schedule I know what I have to accomplish that day. I LOVE that Monday started off with something simple like Laundry. Mostly because Monday's are my crazy day of trying to get readjusted from the weekend madness. As long as I get the laundry done the day feels completed! However if I have a Monday that is a little slower I can do the weekly chore on that day and suddenly I am SUPER MOM!

I cannot even begin to express how awesome that felt last week when I got my deep vacuuming done of the couch on Monday and knew I had the rest of the week to do the other chores and was ahead of the game. I LOVE being ahead of the game.

This week I feel like it is going to be even easier because I have already really cleaned everything once! Nothing is going for more than a week and thus it will be SO MUCH faster this time around! Also I feel like someone could stop by at any moment and I wouldn't feel so stressed out about the state of things around here. I love that feeling!

Now I know this is just a recap of week 1 but honestly I feel like this schedule is a game changer. I feel so much more accomplished and focused knowing what chores MUST get done and as long as I get those ones completed then the day is golden. I don't have to do ALL OF THE CHORES ALL OF THE TIME. It's a HUGE relief.

Do you all use a cleaning schedule? Did it change your life too? Am I just late to the party on the wonders of being more focused and organized when it comes to household management? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Monday!

Tuesday Tunes: A New Series

Morning Everyone,

So my week is pretty much shaping up to be pretty....well crap. However after doing my heavy handed post yesterday where you all let me whine a bit I am here to bring a little humor to your Tuesday.

I've decided to do a series of posts called Tuesday Tunes. I've done posts before with the title but I got to thinking about how much fun they are so I thought I would just go ahead and make it a series. Plus it makes it much easier to write posts that already have a theme. I need a little structure in my life.

Anyhow I saw this post a while ago on Reddit and then it popped up again in my Facebook Feed. The video is just adorable and basically describes how I feel after a weekend of cleaning only to have my husband come home and just leave his dirty laundry all over the place, clutter up my table again, and leave dishes out for me this morning. Seriously he is worse than the one year old....

So here is the video, hope you all enjoy, Have a great Tuesday and join me back here for Confession Day tomorrow!
