What are your life goals?

This question was posed to me recently. No it wasn't for a job interview or anything like that, in fact it was in reference to a D&D character that I had created for a game my brother is running.

Seriously.

And as I was coming up with my characters goals and motivations inevitably I started thinking about my own and I found myself just staring into space before admitting....I don't know.

Well that is horrifying and panic inducing.

I mean my life is a good life.

I have a good husband and two beautiful children. I am a stay at home mom which was important to me so that I would be there should my kids need me at any moment. I have a good family that I am close with and a place to live in and food on the table and all those blessings we take for granted on the daily.

But what were my goals?

I mean I have the usual goals:
To raise good humans who are compassionate and loving.
To eventually own a home
To make enough money to be comfortable.

These are good family goals but what about personally? What did I want for myself? More staring into space.

Well....shit. I'd totally lost sight of things that I wanted for just myself. To be fair the world does not encourage selfishness in mothers. There is a small movement for empowering them but honestly people will still give you the sideways look if you are doing something that isn't at least MOSTLY for your kids.

So what are my goals? Who do I want to be when I define me? Well here's what I have...
To write a book.
To work at a library again. (My favorite job I've ever had)
To be a woman comfortable in her own skin.
To care less what others think.
To have a monthly date night with my husband.

Nothing ground breaking sure but for now they will do. I'm still a little in the weeds when it comes to thinking about just what it is I want...and not getting bogged down but what I SHOULD want and what OTHERS want for me. So for now I'll just leave this little list here on the blog, alone and quiet as I whisper into the void....what it is I want?

2019 Goals

So we are 2 weeks into the new year, how is it going?

Mine has been fine so far, actually it's been busy with the normal day to day stuff but in the middle of all that I finally got a chance to sit down and put my goals on paper and felt like I would share them with you all!

1) Purge and Organize- I know that everyone is big on the whole Tidying Up thing and while I enjoyed the book I cannot stand the show. (The people are so annoying....I'd rather just watch her clean the houses herself without everyone else's drama.) I do enjoy the folding techniques which save space and I'm happily chucking out a ton of junk that I'm tired of staring at.

2) Budget and Save- I'm putting this out into the universe. I'm shouting it out loud, THIS WILL BE THE YEAR WE BUY A HOUSE. We've been searching and watching out budget and saving and I'm just so very ready to have our own home. We are officially out of space here and no amount of purging is going to change that fact. We need a home that is our own. We need space. Also budgeting is still a huge goal because honestly I'm tired of being in debt. Yeah a house is debt but it is a debt that I want. Student loans years after I've been out of college? Yeah I'm OVER IT.

3) Meal Planning- Part of the budget thing and part of the eating better and taking better care of my health. I'm also trying to make sure that I'm getting in the best I can for the kids. Robert too but honestly he's the pickiest of them all so I do the best I can.

4) Blogging and Writing- I miss these things. I keep making excuses for why I'm not doing them but I'm done with that. I want to commit to blogging a couple times a week and I want to commit to writing daily, even just journaling counts. I'm going to do it. It makes me happy and I am all about increasing happiness this year.

5) Take care of me- Self care, working out, eating right, reading, relaxing, working, all the things that make a person a person....I'm going to do more of things that make me a person. Being a mom is wonderful but it is not the only thing that I am. I'm going to start taking back a little bit of myself and again doing more of what makes me happy.

So that's the goal list for 2019! Not too bad and well within reach I think! I'll be reading blogs this week too and catching up with all of you! Can't wait to see what everyone has been up to!

February Goals

I am just doing a Top 3 for my goals this month because I tend to jump into too much at once and it always ends in disaster. So this month I am just going to focus on these three things and hopefully it will all turn out awesome!

1. Work on being more active on blogging/commenting/ "healthy" social media- I have really been slacking on blogging and that has been because I've been really debating on whether or not I want to continue. However I was sitting here staring at the computer screen one day and I thought about how much I really was missing blogging and how it makes me so happy when my regulars comment. I am not a big blog but I feel the love from my loyal readers and I want to start making more of an effort to give you all something quality to read.  Also I want to be more active on like Instagram and SnapChat in a "healthy" way. Meaning I want to post things that lift people up, that motivate people to be the best version of themselves. That are fun and happy. I'm done with negativity and I refuse to let the world break me down. I will continue to rise.  Facebook will get the occasional post but honestly I am pretty much done with it. It's such an angry place and it makes me feel rage each time I see my news feed and the hate that is being spewed there. I can't unfollow everyone, but I can just avoid the platform all together!

2. Cut down on screen time- I realize that that may seem counterproductive to my above goal of blogging and stuff but what I mean here is that I want to start setting aside more times where there is no screen involved in my or Kyra's activity. We have our reading hour and story time at the library but I want more evening playtime that doesn't always involve the TV, phone, or iPad.

2. Organize my basement room- It kind of became a catch all after the holidays and I am now officially tired of just shifting things from one spot to another. Time for a clean, purge, and reorganize.

What are your goals for the month? Anyone else done with Facebook?

Hello Summer

It's time to share my Summer Goals with you all! (I totally missed the linkup last week....oops!)

Meal Plan- I am so bad with this. It is really hard to do when your husband only likes the absolute worst things for you (fried things), doesn't eat condiments or spices, and the only vegetables he will touch are the only ones I don't like (green beans). However I want to make sure that Kyra is getting the nutrition she needs and I want to do better by myself as well. So planning is going to be a big focus to make sure that everyone is getting something...without relying on fast food out of frustration!

Budget and begin to reduce debt- We have been working on getting our finances all together and being good adults. Now it is time to put things into action!

Meet my daily step count every day- I have been nailing this one so far this month and I want to keep it up all summer! I love seeing that I met or exceeded my goal each day!

Complete the 30 day Shred again- I found this DVD while searching for something else and I think it is about time I gave it a go again. I always love how I feel after completing it....even if it is a beast to get through!

Enjoy the summer with Kyra and not be worried about the things I don't get done. Not every day has to feel like a sprint to the point of exhaustion trying to get as much done as possible. It is okay to take it slow and just enjoy the moments. This past weekend was a great example of that. We had so much fun and I only took one picture. I spent more time just enjoying than worrying about capturing that enjoyment!

What are your goals for this summer?

May Goals and Linkup!

1. Workout-I had this goal last month but I admit that I fell really short on it. This month I am shooting for 3x per week!

2. Use MyFitnessPal- In my effort to get healthy I am also going to be tracking my meals in MyFitnessPal again. It just helps keep me aware of just what I am eating!

3. Plan Kyra's 3rd Birthday- Kyra will be turning three in a month! I can hardly believe it and now I need to get on the ball an plan this party for my girl!

4. De-clutter- To get prepared for Kyra's party I need to seriously De-clutter some of her toys....it looks like we have five kids...not just one.

5. Planet Comic Con - I am so excited about this! I have to get prepared for the actual days (a lot of prep goes into a full weekend con!) and also have some other things that have to get taken care of as well before May 20th!!!

I'm linking up my goals this month in a new linkup! The What's New With You Linkup!  Be sure to join in!

April 2016 Goals

1. Workout- In an effort to shake the slump and get things going I've decided that I need to get things going. Namely I need to get myself going. So I am shooting for at least 30 minutes a day but honestly even five minutes is better than nothing!

2. Read- My reading took kind of a hit lately and I've got a huge stack of To Read books that I am more than ready to get into.

3. Write- I need to write. Even just a paragraph a day. I need to get writing again. Whether it is actual writing or just journaling my thoughts. Writing is writing.

4. Bedtime- I have a great night time routine for my face but getting to sleep is a whole other thing. I need to start getting into bed at a normal time.

5. Meditate- I was doing so well with this but once I hit the slump I was so not in the mood to listen to meditations and trying to do unguided ones just resulted in me worrying about things instead of relaxing. So once again I will start from the beginning at three minute intervals and move forward from there.

What are your goals for the month? Anyone else going through a bit of a slump? I feel like the whole blogging world has been in one.

Hello March

It's hard to believe that we are already three months into the year.

March is a pretty busy month around here since we have about a million birthdays this month. On top of that throwing in Easter this month will make it even more interesting.

But even though it's going to be a busy one I still have some goals that I want to accomplish this month!

Wake up Early- I wake up fairly early as is but I want to start waking up at least an hour before Kyra does. Most of the time I just let myself lie there in bed until she wakes up but here lately I've been getting up and getting a few things done before she is even out of bed and it makes a world of difference to my day!

Yoga- I am starting the 30 Day Yoga challenge this month. I love the stretches in yoga and I always feel so much better after I do it so I'm going to attempt to make it part of the daily routine this month. I want to increase my flexibility and make some extra time for myself.

Meditation- I have been doing this daily pretty consistently these past few months but I want to continue. It really has helped to clear my mind and focus on the things that are really important. I also want to try new apps for meditation because it is really fun to switch things up when you are having a hard time with one in particular.

Outside Play- When the weather is nice I am going to try and get outside more. Kyra loves outside and playing in the dirt and mud. I'm not really an outside person but I don't want her to miss out on it just because it's not my thing. Plus it makes it ten times more fun to see her so excited to play and run and jump without a care in the world.

Planning- I've been "officially" using a bullet journal for about a month now and I really love it. I love the lists and I love having a planner that actually works for me. This month I hope to continue to make progress in planning extending it to meal planning, savings planning, and finding systems that work for me!

What are your goals for the month? Do you do yoga? Any tips or favorite videos on YouTube? Let me know!

Happy March Everyone!

Hello 2016

It's a New Year.

I suppose this is supposed to be the post about resolutions, goals, etc.

However I only have one real goal for the year.

To be grateful for the things I have and embrace my happiness.

2016 is going to be a big year.

We have a new little one on the way.

Bobby got the promotion he so rightfully deserved.

We are so very lucky.

So I resolve to remember how lucky I am.

To find my happiness in the life I have.

To remember how far I've come to reach this point.

To look forward to all the year has in store for me.

happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrate it for everything that it is.:

 Happy New Year Everyone.

Thursday Thoughts: October Goals 2015

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy October 1st!

This year really is flying by but honestly I love the fall so I am very happy that we have arrived at this time of the year!

Since it is a new month and since I've been needing to make some changes I decided that today I would share my monthly goals with you all.

1) Make time for myself- This one is pretty big. If you read my confession post yesterday you probably know that I've been struggling with Mommy Guilt and feeling pretty bad about asking for any kind of help. However I know that it is in the best interest of my family and myself to start making a little time for just me. My mom offered to take Kyra a couple times a week so that I could go and workout for an hour and start getting her used to the idea that I don't have to be with her 24/7.

2) Step up the blogging game- I felt like I slacked of in September a lot. I really didn't post that often and when I did they were just mostly fluff posts. So this month I am going to try and really put out some good content and blog everyday Monday through Friday this month. I hope to get one or two weekend posts up as well.

3) Make a "big" goal list- I feel like I need to refocus on the things that I really want in life. Everyone needs to have a goal that they are working toward and I really feel like I need to figure out just what it is that I want and start making steps toward achieving those things.

4) Make Meal Planning a priority- Budgeting is something that I am still learning but I know for a fact that meal planning makes all the difference in our budget and in my daily stress level. If I have a plan for dinner it feels like the rest of the day falls into place.

5) Write- Write, Write, and Write some more. I felt like last month I was pretty much shut down in the creative/writing department. I need to get things moving again in my brain. I need that creative outlet. Even if what I write is never seen, even if it is pretty much crap, it won't matter. Any word written is better than the one not written.

So there you have my goals for the month. Do you have any goals for the month? Is there something in particular that you are excited about taking on? Let me know in the comments!

My 2015 Goals

Good Morning Everyone,

Well here we are again, the end of another year, and everyone knows what that means....

Time for some Goals!

 1. I always pledge to read and write more. I love both things and honestly what would life be like without books?

2. I really want to get better at what not only I eat but also what my family eats. I really want Kyra to have good eating habits and it starts with me!

3. This is the year I get rid of things. I am so done moving things around and just shifting one pile of things over to the other side of the room and then back again. I am going to simplify my life!

4. This one kind of ties in with the others and honestly it was Steph that inspired me to put this goal in, but I want to be more in control of my Hausfrauing! I want a chore schedule and I want organization!

5. This is inspired via something I had seen on Tumblr. I want to attempt to put forth my best self as much as possible. Smile more and enjoy life. My family deserves the best version of me that I can give them. Every. Single. Day.

The new year is a such a hopeful thing, there is no way of knowing what is in store, there are just endless possibilities. I can't wait to see what 2015 will bring!

Thursday Thoughts: Excuses, December Goals, 30

Good Morning Everyone,

So apparently I took a week off of blogging without even really thinking about it. I have lots of excuses but the top ranking two are that I have been really busy and also taking a writing break because finishing my 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo was a pretty hard slog and I didn't feel much like writing or being creative.

Also I've fallen in love with knitting so there is that as well.

Today I was supposed to link up with Steph on the Choose Your Own Adventure and share my organization adventure. I had planned on working on the garage...that didn't happen. I do plan on working on my closet this afternoon....if I am good maybe I will remember to take pictures and perhaps get a link into the linkup after all....but I wouldn't hold my breath.

So what was I going to talk about? Oh yes December Goals.

Here's a list:

1. The Choose Your Own Adventure goal is to SIMPLIFY. I will be working on this one in a big way, especially because I'm going to have to in order to make room for all of the things Kyra is getting for Christmas....

2. Continue on my weight loss journey. I haven't talked about this much but things are going pretty awesome, I only gained two pounds over the holiday and that is pretty great since I had THREE Thanksgivings to attend...and food is yummy.

3. EDIT. So much editing to do....

4. Start working on a daily/weekly schedule. Things have been so hectic lately and I think that if I had a set schedule of things to get done day to day it would really help relieve some stress.

5. Smile, Relax, Enjoy the season. Oh yeah...and turn 30.

See how I slipped that in there? Yeah I'm turning 30....in twenty days. I'm not upset by the number...no biggie really....I'm more just in shock that somehow I will be out of my 20s.....I'm not really sure I'm an adult yet...

Okay so that is it for me. I know this was a weird sort of mish mash post but I needed to get back in the swing of things. I'll be back tomorrow with Friday Favorites also known as What I Want for Christmas/Birthday!

Hot Mama Monday- Trying to get my Mojo back

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome!

Late post this morning because it has been a busy one and also I am not really feeling very well, but I didn't want to miss a Monday Morning with you all!

Today I am going to talk about my attempts to get my Mojo back.

Weight loss has always been a real struggle for me. Sometimes I'm up and sometimes I'm down. There is very little rhyme or reason to my really great losses and my really great gains other than general happiness. That isn't to say right now isn't a happy time for me but my stress levels are at an all time high.

My biggest problem is getting discouraged when things don't go well. When I have a bad day, or a bad week it tends to spiral out of control and suddenly it has been weeks since my last good workout and I haven't logged my calorie intake.

I'm not sure why it always has to be "all or nothing" with me but I am trying to work on it. This week in particular I am going to try and get myself back into the mindset of weight loss and feeling motivated. I know I'm not in my good mindset but almost there at the moment because this morning the following scene happened.

Brownies in the kitchen.

Me: I could have one of those for breakfast.

Inner Me: Yeah you could but what about trying to lose weight? Weren't you going to start off right today?

Me:Whatever, I don't care. I just want to feel better.

Inner Me: Yes you do. You do care. You want to look good, you want to feel good. You DO care.

Me: .....okay.

So I had my scheduled breakfast and left the brownie alone.

I got to thinking about it however and I thought...Why would the brownie make me feel better? This morning has been pretty stressful. 13 dogs and a baby to care for really pushes my limits and it makes my morning very busy. Kennel to clean, change the towels, walk the dogs, feed the dogs, give the baby a bottle, make the baby breakfast and on mornings where I have forgotten to write my blog ahead of time, I have to get a blog post up. STRESS.

So I am going to try and not let stress dictate how I eat. That will be step one.

Step 2 will be that I will work out for 30 minutes every day or else do three miles every day. I'm not a step counter but I saw this on Pinterest the other day and I thought....hey that sounds manageable.
A Celebrity Trainer Shares a Tip That Helped Her Lose 30 Pounds ~ The 3 or 30 rule
Step 3 is to try and look at as much motivational material as possible. I am trying to really pin things that make me feel more inspired to stick to my plan and that inspire me.

Have patience.
So those are the goals for this week. I realize that they are not as concrete as my previous ones but I feel like while I am trying to get my Mojo back they are the ones that I really need to focus on.

What are your goals for the week? What helps you stay motivated? Are you feeling your Mojo this week? Leave a comment down below!

Hot Mama Monday- Goal update 6/16

Good Morning Everyone!

This post is going up a little bit late because I was busy cleaning my basement out this morning and doing other necessary chores. However it is better late than never and it is time to do my weekly goal check in for Hot Mama Monday!!

So here were last week's goals:

1. Stick to my meal plan. No cheating. ~ Did pretty awesome with this. Had a small slip up on Wednesday night because I was really stressed and tired.
2. If a cheat does happen I will get back on track. No dwelling on the mess ups. It will happen occasionally, but I can bounce back right away. ~ Did great with this! My little slip up Wednesday night did not derail me from getting back on track immediately after!
3. 8 glasses of water a day~ No problem, did this one with ease!
4. 30 minutes of some sort of workout activity every day ~ Fail. I tried to be active but honestly I was running around just everywhere last week and then the puppies arrived so...yeah lots of reasons but still fail.
5. Log everything into MyFitnessPal every day. ~ SO CLOSE. I forgot to track it yesterday and ruined my streak! Back to tracking today!

So that is the goal update! Not too shabby and resulted in a 2.4 pound loss for the week!

I gotta admit I was sort of hoping for some sort of awesome number on the scale but can't be sad about any loss, even if it isn't the biggest one. I am trying to remember that as long as the scale is moving down then I am going in the right direction, no matter how fast it is moving!

So here are the goals for this week:

1) Continue to stick to my meal plan.

2) Track every day!

3) Up the water intake to a gallon a day!

4) 30 minutes of activity a day.

5) Try to come up with smarter snack ideas so that the time between lunch and dinner is not miserable! (this was my issue and ended with the slip up on Wednesday!)

 So there they are!

Any goals for your week? Anyone have a spectacular weight loss this past week? Let me hear from ya!

Big hugs from here! Have a great Monday!
