Playing Catch Up

It's been forever since I last blogged.

The last posts were about the puppies, two of which are now at happy homes and one that now belongs to my younger brother who is moving out of my parents' home this weekend to his own place. Big deal around here!

Other things have happened this month that really kept me from posting much. We lost a very dear friend, in fact it was the very friend that married us a year ago. It was horrible. We are still coping with that loss.

We also sort of celebrated our one year anniversary. Honestly after putting our friend to rest the day before the anniversary we were not really feeling it. Not to mention I am huge and pregnant and thus we didn't get overly excited about it. We are happy to have made it a year and I love him more than ever but we didn't need to make a huge deal about it.

In pregnant news I have been having contractions for over a week now. Last Wednesday was the most intense and painful. I actually went into labor and delivery thinking that this was it, but since I was only 36 weeks they said they would not help me along and after two hours and not dilating past a 3 they sent me home. I spent the rest of the night in intense pain but the next morning things finally died down and I slept out of pure exhaustion I think....

Now here we are almost a week later and I still have contractions every fifteen to twenty minutes. It  is uncomfortable and really frustrating. I am so ready to hold my baby girl in my arms!

Today is another doctor appointment and hopefully they will have good news for me. If not then I am going back to work tomorrow, contractions or no contractions, it seems pointless to just sit around waiting. I want my time off to be spent with the baby!

I am a nervous wreck about it however. Last Wednesday was awful and my contractions were less than two minutes apart. Pain like I have never ever known before.....yet they did not help me at all....actually the nurses made me feel like I was ruining their night, I was a complete inconvenience to them....which really being a new mom made me feel pretty awful. I was going to say something but I was scared they would be even worse and I really want help having this baby! I get it is just a job to them but still....a little bedside manner goes a long way....

So that is a quick little catch up, hopefully I will have more to write about later after the doctor and maybe even a little more info on Baby K! I keep wanting to write a post about her name and all that but I am saving it for when she actually arrives!

Cross your fingers that today is the day everyone! I want to meet my baby!!!!

My Life in Dogs Pt 3

The puppies are here!

These three little ones came into our lives four weeks ago.

The fastest four weeks ever actually….

You see Bella our rescue went into heat apparently….and Ryder is her very best friend…. well apparently he got to her before we managed to get them separated and well…you know how the story goes!

So about four weeks and a day ago Mom makes the comment that she is pretty sure Bella is going to have pups. Dad plans on making an appointment with the vet for the next day.

The next day dad is walking by Bella’s dog house and hears a noise.

We have puppies!

Bella delivered all three pups and had them cleaned and nursing with no problems at all. We were so proud of her.

We immediately moved mom and babies into the front porch so we could watch over them and keep them warm. Also Ryder was completely confused by the appearance of the pups and we thought it best to keep the new dad away from the little ones.

So here we are four weeks down the road and the puppies are growing like little weeds. They now play and bark and wrestle. They love people and are just beginning to eat little bits of solid food. They will continue to nurse until they are eight weeks and that will be the time that they will leave momma.

Just check out these little cuties! This is what I have been spending my mornings and after work doing….

My Life in Dogs Pt 2

Big Ryder’s Story

The story of how Ryder came to live with us is a pretty simple story, but you have to know his story along with Miss Bella’s in order to know about the little pups that are now in our lives.
Ryder’s story actually begins with Joe and my cousin Tommy.

My cousin Tommy passed away quite suddenly, leaving his dog Joe without anyone in the world. Joe was an Australian Shepherd and a one man dog, he needed love and he needed a home. My dad told my Aunt that we would take Big Joe, we had the land and we had the love. So Big Joe came to live with us.

Joe may have started off as a one man dog…but after a few weeks in our family, well he was everyone’s dog. He loved us all and we dearly loved him. However he and my dad had a very special relationship. They were always together. They had six wonderful years together before Big Joe passed on from this life.

My dad’s heart was broken, and when a tough guy like that cries…well all of us were hurting after losing our Joe.

A year after Joe, mom thought it was time for a new addition to the family. Daddy needed a dog of his own. He missed Joe terribly…and it was time for a new friend. We decided we would get him a puppy for Father’s Day. It was a long and difficult search. We wanted a pup that looked a lot like Big Joe, we wanted another Aussie. I searched and searched for months and finally by August, I had found him.
It was a Sunday afternoon and my dad had gone blue rock shooting with my husband when I found Ryder. It happened quite by accident while searching Facebook but once I saw him…I knew. I showed his picture to Mom who immediately told me that this was the one and I made the call. We could go and pick him up tonight…in Nebraska…three hours away. Yeah…like we cared!

So once Dad got home we told him that this was his father’s day gift (two months late!) and that we needed to go and get his pup. That was the most exciting drive! The minute we got the puppy and Dad held him and the little guy gave him a kiss…we knew we had done the right thing. Daddy would never stop missing Joe…but he was going to love this little guy just as much.

Ryder was such a good car rider that that is how his name happened. He did so well in the car and still loves to go on car rides. He is affectionate with all of us but he only has eyes for my dad. Best friends for life, they are.

Well Big Ryder is a registered Australian Shepherd; beautiful boy has papers and everything. He’s gorgeous…and of course not fixed. Which brings us to these three….

My Life in Dogs Pt 1

This is a rescue story.

Last fall I was driving to my parents’ house along the gravel road. As per usual there was a big truck going about seventy down the gravel because well…people are idiots on gravel roads. I saw him and I also saw a dog running along the road. Fear gripped my heart and I watched as the truck didn’t slow down and appeared to take the puppy out as it disappeared from my sight. The truck kept on going but I pulled over to see if the puppy was okay. I stepped out of the car and left the door open, not a second later the pup was out of the ditch and into my car. She had not been hit and she sat in my car seat looking at me with the most amazing gold eyes, begging for me to let her stay. I smiled, got in the car and told her that she was going to be okay now. I knew just where to take her. I took her to Miss Krissy’s home for wayward animals…also known as my mom’s house.

I pulled into the driveway and carefully got the pup out, along with my little dog that was riding with me as well. She was confused by this new addition to the car but once we were at my mom’s house she was more intent on getting to the other dogs. Mom had three others at the time. We made our way onto the back deck and I looked over this little lady that had gotten in the car.

She had been on her own for a while. She was scary thin, her bones jutting out and her ribcage very prominent. Her coat was a mess of mud and stickers. However her personality was so mild and meek. She so desperately wanted me to love on her.

I called mom out to the deck and told her, “I’m sorry mom but I just couldn’t leave her…” Of course my mom didn’t mind at all. She just started to love all over the pup. I knew that this little lady had found a home. Mom named her Bella, and she became part of our family. Miss Bella has been a joy and is one of the smartest and fastest dogs anyone could hope for. She’s a border collie and loves to herd. She keeps mom’s horses in line!

Of course when we took Bella in we had no idea what was in store for us just a few months later….when these little ones arrived….

Well hey look, I have a blog!

This poor blog is so neglected right now. I have just had so much going on and really no desire to write it all down. Not to mention that I cannot blog at work and blogging at home has not been happening because we cannot run Hulu and the computer at the same time, Hulu locks up every time and my husband must see “Chicago Fire” !

So basically blogging has been on the back burner and I haven’t done any real writing in about two weeks. However I noticed this week that I felt restless and like my brain was swimming with thoughts and worries and general need to express what is going on in my crazy life. Heck I was even tempted to start working on a new header for my blog and changing what the feel of it is going to be, I am leaning more toward being a mommy/random life moment blogger. Also known as I will write about my baby and all about the crazy things that seem to be happening in my life. I actually have several things that have gone on in the past four weeks and I cannot wait to start writing posts about them! There are things like puppies, a baby shower, fun with friends, and of course, pregnancy madness.

I have been following along with the other blogs but I cannot comment on them while I am at work and the only time I get any reading done is on my lunch break. So I am keeping up with you all and I am sorry I haven’t left any comments! I will be trying to do the blog thing in the morning before work now when there is no TV on and no distractions other than the dogs! (This of course will change when Baby K comes along…however maybe mornings will be my little bit of alone time….or during naps….)

So be looking for some posts for the next coming days, I am going to try and get all of them written and scheduled ahead of time and maybe…just maybe….I will get back into my rhythm again!

Link up again

button
1. If calories didn't count, I would eat... lots and lots of bread/baked goods. Loaves of bread even…

2. On my Prom night... Oh Prom!!! I have a billion stories from this night! But to keep it short…the limo broke down on the side of the road, we showed up to prom in a white “abduction” van, a group of guys ran off the road into a corn field, and my date stole my heart and never gave it back!
3. When I go to the store, I always buy... bread and milk, a habit I formed when I went to the stores with my mum as a kid; I will always have bread and milk on the list!

4. Family functions typically... involve my older of the two brothers calling the other one a girl, me rolling on the floor laughing hysterically at something my brother or my mum said, endless amounts of food, and the hopeful wish that my own little family will be just as crazy!

5. I think my blog readers... are wonderful; they are small in number but big on the love!

6. I'd much rather be... somewhere, anywhere with a beach. I crave the ocean and yet here I am in the middle of the country….

7. I have an obsession with... color coding things. My mom is a tailor and I color code her push pins on the pincushion. I have done this since I was very small I believe. Also certain colors are allowed to be next to other ones because certain colors are dating….I think I might need therapy….

8. My work friends... are the reason I get up and do this every day. Without them making me laugh and being in general inappropriate, the days would all melt into one monotonous blur.

9. When I created my Facebook account... I made it my goal to be in over 100 groups. I made it. I was actually in a group called “I Heart Jigglypuff”. A billion points to you if you know what that is!

10. My least favorite word is... actually a word combo, “Half-Assed”; my mom was constantly telling me as a teen not to do whatever chore I was doing, “half-assed”.

11. I really don't remember... where all the stuff in my house came from…I have no idea how I managed to acquire so much junk!

12. Justin Bieber... makes me want to bash my head in. His songs are worse than “The song that never ends” and he needs to put his shirt back on.

Too late to the linkup but what the hell, here it is anyway! Proper post tomorrow. Night all.

In which I could not agree more!!!

So I was actually working on a different post but then I ran across a post today from a fellow blogger and it demands my attention much more than what I was working on.

Today Erin over at She's a big star posted a blog about something that is very near and dear to my heart. In fact it is something that has made me consider just giving up the blog world and continuing to write in my own personal space over on 750words.com instead. I still write there every day but a blog is so nice to put out there for others to see. For me blogging has been a way to share my journey and while sometimes I don't have much to say, this blog is still for me to come to when I need it. It's an outlet first and foremost for me.

Today on THIS post Erin goes into detail of the things that are really irritating about the blogging world today. I think she has hit the nail on the head with these things, and I even have a few more little things that I would like to add that really bug me too.

1) Instagram/Twitter bandits- yeah okay, I don't do instagram. I tried but it wants to link to my facebook and honestly...I don't think that everyone on my facebook really needs to see what I am eating, wearing, or doing all the damn time. You read a blog by choice but I feel like instagram floods my newsfeed with things that just really don't matter to me. I'm into reading about people and I do love to see the photos on the blogs, but seriously why do I need to overkill my family with junk they already know?? Aside from that I hate the "book" anyhow. I keep it for the friends and family that are overseas, I do not need it to follow blogs. Twitter...ah twitter. Stupid. It is just damn lazy stupid. Enough said there.

2) The lack of actual content- It has gotten to the point where some of the blogs I follow don't actually WRITE. Instead it is like reading a Google ad for someone's blog, clothes, upcoming race....there is not actually any substance to the blog anymore. It is all "Oh my gosh look at my friends and their blogs!" but those "friends" paid to be in that post....what happened to just mentioning someone because you really enjoyed what they wrote that day? Or giving the love away....for free? Just to be kind? Just to be...I dunno...a friend?

3) Exclusion/Cliques- You cannot tell me there are not blogging cliques. You cannot tell me that there are the "cool" ones and the not so cool. What sucks is that the "cool" ones expect the less cool to pay them to make them cool....um...seriously??

Okay so this might seem a little like a rant but honestly....things have gotten a little out of control and it is enough to make a new blogger feel completely unwelcome and miserable. It is enough to actually put someone off writing...and that is not right.

So I will go ahead and say this now, you don't have to follow me, but if you choose to read me that is great. If you have a great post that I see and like, I will link it, no charge! If you want someone to email and talk about random junk, I am always available.

I write here because I love to write. I put up posts about my random life just because I want to, most of my family and friends don't even know it is here, it is just a place for me to come and put my thoughts into words.

So maybe no one will read this, but if someone does I hope they check out Erin's blog. I hope that if they are just starting to blog they realize that it doesn't have to be all about that junk...that blogs were created for writing, so go ahead and write!!!!
