Some Binge Worthy TV

So this weekend most of the Midwest was hit by an ice storm. While it wasn't really bad where I live we still stayed in and off the roads just in case it did eventually get worse. Of course what do you do when you are housebound for an entire weekend? Watch TV...and stay in pajamas pretty much the entire time but hey that is a given right?

Anyhow we watched a lot of awesome stuff over the weekend and thought I would share with you all in case the weather has you in as well!

1. Outlander- My mom loaned me the first seasons both Volume 1 and 2 and we finished both in the weekend. Oh this show. SO MUCH DRAMA. Not only that but the accents are beautiful, the scenery is gorgeous, and the knitwear is out of this world. I really like the story so far and I knew basically nothing at all about it before starting the show. I knew there was a time travel type element and I knew it was taking place in Scotland. What I didn't know was how amazing the characters would be and how they would draw me into their lives. This show is totally binge worthy if you are a romantic or you love historical fiction. It can be violent and sometimes the sexy times are a little more than necessary (aka DO NOT watch with little ones around. Kyra was happily watching Beauty and the Beast in the bedroom or asleep when we were watching.)

2. Series of Unfortunate Events- I love that Netflix is starting to really take off on their own content. I am so happy to have this series back to life after a bit of a flop at the box office (though I didn't mind the movie that much honestly) and the actors are awesome. I will admit that it is slightly weird and if you haven't read the books (like my husband hadn't) you might be confused. They do a great job of following the books and while at times it can get a bit repetitive I didn't find it more so than any other show. Neil Patrick Harris is a hilarious Count Olaf but I have to say that the absolute STAR of the show is Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket. He is so funny and his deadpan delivery is brilliant.  If you are looking for something on Netflix to binge this is a great one!

3. Alice Through the Looking Glass- Okay so this isn't really a series to binge watch but it was a show we watched over the weekend and it was such a good movie I had to include it. I liked this one so much better than the first one. I actually really did enjoy the first one but this one by far exceeded my expectations. The story just made a little more sense and there was a lot more action in this one as opposed to the first. Visually very pretty and I feel like the actress that played Alice really got into the role this time. If you are a fan of the books or the movies be sure to check this one out!

I know there are only three shows on this list but honestly it took the entire weekend to watch them all and I regret NOTHING! Sometimes you just need a weekend of being lazy, binging on shows, and just cuddling up on the couch under blankets while the weather does whatever it is it is going to do!

What have you been watching lately?

In Which We Turned Back Time....

Image result for turn back time cher meme
I had to. Apologies.

Well I took another blogging break apparently but I have been writing steadily so it isn't a total loss. NaNoWriMo has been going good so far and I am getting really happy with my story.

Friday was a slow day but Kyra and I spent the time taking a long afternoon walk and gathering leaves for a craft project that we will be working on today. She had such a great time finding all the different colors and got overly excited when she found tiny little leaves.

The evening was spent writing. I had fallen behind on my word count a bit so I made myself sit down and focus for a bit while Kyra watched a movie and I managed to get 5,000 words done. I felt so much better after getting so much done and was really proud of that word count!

Also super exciting my parents went to Vegas for the weekend to visit my Uncle and Auntie and cousins. They had won tickets and my Mom hadn't seen her brother or his kids in years so I am really glad that she and Dad were able to go!

Saturday- Bobby went to help his dad move a bunch of furniture so I spent the day taking down and putting away all the Halloween decorations. I was so proud of myself because even though I really wanted to put up Christmas stuff I stopped myself. I instead put up just some nice fall decor to get me through until after Thanksgiving. But I'm not kidding when I say the weekend after I will be putting my tree up!

That night we went to my brother's Halloween Leftovers party. Bobby was Dr. Bruce Banner and I was Femme Clark Kent. Kyra went as Hazel from the Little Charmers. She got to meet my brother's girlfriend's niece (they are around the same age) and had a great time playing Barbie and Littlest Pet Shop on the floor while we visited.

The party was really fun and was a very relaxed and chill atmosphere which was great because I may or may not have had a slight meltdown over my costume before we got there. A great time was had by all but by 10pm we were headed back home. #lifewithkids

Sunday- Funday. Daylight savings happened but I didn't notice other than having to change my clocks that don't change automatically. Kyra was still up bright and early and ready for breakfast at her normal time. #parentinglife
Made cookies that turned out really flat but super tasty. Took half of them to my younger brother because he was having guests over and had messed up the ones he was trying to make.
Made homemade pizza that was amazing because we hadn't had it in FOREVER.
Kyra discovered that the TV in the bedroom will also play her movies so she spent the day playing on my bed with toys and watching her movies while Bobby caught up on the shows he likes but doesn't get to watch during the week.
I spent the afternoon writing, working on blogs, and attempting to meal plan for the week.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the big book linkup! Be sure to share your reads from last month!

In Which Games, Beauty stuff, and fun happened.

Friday: My husband took off for the weekend the day before leaving me to single parent again for the weekend. No big deal, he does this trip yearly but I am beginning to feel like maybe I need a trip now? Seriously I think he could handle a weekend with his daughter on his own. (Longest time without me: 1.5 hrs)  Mama needs some downtime.
Anyhow my youngest brother came over and hung out with Kyra and I and a lot of time was spent chasing Kyra and watching Critical Role.

There was also a wildlife siting.

Also I took the opportunity to take care of beauty stuff because 1. I enjoy it and 2. My pores needed it.

Then I spent a huge chunk of the evening getting caught up on blog reading and working on this week planner setup. Yep I know how to party.

Saturday: Pretty much a chill day. My brother and I hung out some more, watched a ton of movies and basically were slugs all day. It was glorious. There is no photographic evidence of the sluggery.

Sunday: My brother wanted to go to the Tabletop store so Kyra and I tagged along.
After that we stopped by the mall and wandered for a while. It was SO MUCH FUN. We don't have an indoor mall close to us anymore (this one is about 45 minutes away) and I miss them so much. Outdoor "shopping centers" are pointless here in Missouri because it is either so hot you melt into the pavement or it is so cold you don't leave the one store you go to. Stupid. Anyhow this was awesome fun and we got to walk around for a good long while and let Kyra play at the play place which made her super happy. Also I got a Milk Tea which made my day.

After goofing around at the mall we headed home and my other brother came over and Robert came home from his trip away and we all had a game night. It was great fun and we drug it out until 1am before I finally threw in the towel and headed to bed.

All in all it was great weekend!

How was yours?

Happy Monday Everyone.

Weekend Recap 2/15

Friday: Robert came home from Vegas! There was a little confusion on landing times as the time zone differences seem to really mess with Robert, but we did managed to get it worked out and picked him up on time. Once again I was grateful that our airport is super easy to navigate. They are planning on changing it and that is slightly depressing as it is SO SIMPLE and easy to get right back on the highway.
After we got home and looked at some of his pictures from the trip (it was a business trip so there weren't a whole lot) we all basically just passed out for the night. None of us had slept well while he was away and we were all exhausted.

Saturday: We decided to go out for a bit and go visit the Tabletop store at their new location. It is a really nice new place but they were pretty picked over so all we picked up was an expansion pack for one of Robert's games. Kyra was happy to be there again as she loves the in house cat that prowls around and also has a strange fascination with a Medusa type monster picture they have hung up there.
After the game store it was off to Joann's where I picked up some new pens for my Bullet Journal. I will be doing a whole post on my journal and the spreads that I have been working on this month. I am totally hooked on this system.

Then it we decided to get something to eat and after waiting approximately FOREVER we finally did get to eat. It was delicious though so all is forgiven in the end.

We decided after dinner it was time to go home and thought it would be fun to rent some movies. Well that was just a major debacle. I was trying to use the Redbox app on my phone with 3% battery and somehow managed to not only order movies at different boxes but in different towns. #Fail Well we had to go and them because there is no cancellation option and we were going to be charged either way.

Sunday: Valentine's Day. Robert and I didn't do anything big because well...just not necessary. We did exchange cards and we had some candy but really we were more content to give Kyra cards and candy and let her feel all the loves! We did got out to Sam's Club for some supplies but then it was back home to have a late lunch and then catch up on all the Hulu shows from last week. I was a nice wife and didn't watch our shows without him. Then it was bath time/bedtime routine for Kyra followed by writing/blogging time for me. Super simple.

There you have it, our weekend.

Weekend Recap: The Reenactment

Saturday: We started off the morning by going out and getting breakfast at our favorite local place which put all of us in a good mood after a rather sleepless night. (Kyra has started having nightmares and it takes a long time to get her back down after a bad one.) Plus the weather was lovely and it was the perfect day for being out and about. Since it was so nice we decided that we would go and see my in-laws. They are Civil War Reenactors and we thought it might be fun  to go and watch.

It really was a lot of fun and amazingly enough Kyra LOVED the cannons. I thought for sure she would jump but she clapped and shouted "FUN!" every time one went off. She is definitely my husband's daughter.

The actors were really great and it was quite the site to see. I was glad that there was commentary going on over the loud speakers because there was quite a lot to keep track of...I know that the pictures don't show a whole lot but unfortunately I was holding Kyra for most of it so I didn't get the chance to take all that many. Plus they are just phone pics because we didn't have the fancy camera.

After the battle we returned the the camp to visit with my in-laws for a bit. Yes they are staying in an old fashioned tent and this is Kyra wearing an old fashioned lady's snood while standing in said tent.

After the reenactment we headed home for a little dinner/bath time/ bedtime!

Sunday: I had every intention of spending Sunday at home working on chores but my husband didn't want to be stuck at the house all day so we headed out for another adventure. We decided to drive down into the city for a little "window" shopping. We hit up the normal places- Home Goods, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Target, etc.

You find the best stuff at T.J. Maxx. Like this epic coozy.

We also stopped in at Z Gallerie which I had heard about a lot but had never actually set foot in one before. It was really fun! I loved a lot of the pieces and it had me thinking that I should really redecorate....everything! We didn't buy anything but it was still a lot of fun to look around and get inspired.
Loved this setup. Bobby was lusting after the benches. He likes big family gathering style.

We both loved this chandelier.

You might not be able to tell but that is an octopus holding the table up. I have no idea why but I loved this.

After that we met up with my parents and my brother and his g/f and did a little shopping at Joanns. Mom is helping my brother's g/f with her Halloween costume and is also helping me with a little sewing project as well. We shopped for a bit then it was off to dinner (Chinese, YUM!) and then we parted ways. Bobby had to go and get some pants for work so we headed off to Kohls. It took forever but he got what he needed and we actually got some seriously good deals so all in all it was a win!

And that was our weekend!

How was yours?

Confessions 10/7-With a Little Pitch Perfect Goodness

Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome back to Confession!

Let's Confess....

I was SO jealous when my family went to see The Martian last Friday. They all went during the day and I couldn't go because I am pretty sure that Kyra would not appreciate the story as much as I would. Also I am not one of those people that takes their kid to an adult movie only to have the kid get bored and then annoy everyone else there. #respectfulmom .

I confess however that while I was pouting Robert took Kyra and I to the indoor playground at Marshalls were Kyra had a blast and then we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. #yum

I was beyond thrilled that we went back to Ren Fest on Saturday. It was kind of spur of the moment. My parents were going and my brother and his girlfriend were going to be there as well so we decided to give it another try. I am so happy to say that Kyra was perfect this go around. Maybe it was because her grandparents were there. Maybe it was because we plied her with yummy food stuffs (funnel cake was a particular hit). Or maybe it was just a better day. Whatever the reason this trip was awesome and I had all the fun I had expected from the week before!

I spend the majority of Monday working on my blog and catching up with comments and other blog posts. So if you got a comment from a post from two weeks ago, I am not a stalker, I just was playing catch up. I did manage to catch up however and it just makes my little heart sing!

I confess that I totally thought the book linkup was yesterday and nearly posted my post but thankfully I read Megan's post on Monday and it reminded me that it is in fact NEXT Tuesday. I have no idea why I got so ahead of myself!

I confess that when we got out of the grocery store for under $100 bucks I did a little dance in the parking lot. #budgetbabe

I confess that I have been EXTRA nice to my pups since I started watching ZOO on Netflix......#Iloveyou #pleasedonteatmyface

That's it for me this week! Be sure join the linkup and confess to your heart's content!

Weekending 7/27

Good Morning Everyone,

Here's the weekend recap:

Saturday:

We had my Grandfather's memorial service at the burial site and buried his ashes. My Grandmother wrote a few words and I read a poem. It was actually really nice and I think it helped my Grandmother a lot. They had been together since they were teenagers and I know she misses him more than anyone could imagine. We all miss him.

After the service we headed home in order to celebrate my husband Bobby's birthday. Before those festivities started however he opened his card from my Grandmother and she had given him a couple scratcher tickets. He won on both! Not a huge amount but more than he had ever won before! He was pretty excited. Then his Dad, Stepmom, and Brother came over to have a barbeque and visit. It was a lot of fun and super simple which is the way that Bobby prefers things. Some tasty treats were had as well!

Sunday:

Up early to have a birthday breakfast with Bobby's Mom, Stepdad, Brother, Brother's girlfriend, and a Friend at IHOP.Yummy pancakes were had!

After breakfast we wandered around a bit at the Tabletop store so that Bobby could browse around for a bit. It's fun just seeing what new games there are to try and taking nerdy talk with other people.

Then we headed over to my parents' house where they had offered to watch Kyra so that we could go see a movie for more birthday fun! We decided on Ant Man and though I was doubtful about it from the trailers (it just looked cheesy and ridiculous) it was actually really good! Paul Rudd was hilarious but totally pulled off the superhero vibe. It was funny and action packed and honestly one of the better Marvel movies. Two thumbs up!

Then it was time to pick Kyra up and head home. The evening was spent staying out of the heat, playing with Kyra, and in general being blissfully lazy.

So there's my weekend, hope you had an good one as well! Happy Monday Everyone.

Weekending 4/24-4/26

Good Morning Everyone,

This weekend kind of flew by for me but that didn't make it any less busy or fun!

Friday-Honestly Friday was pretty low key and we ended up just staying in and enjoying a night at home just the three of us. We did watch the movie Perks of Being a Wallflower and I have to say I loved it. The acting was amazing and the story was so good! I am surprised I hadn't read it before or seen the movie but I am really glad that I did and will probably have to check the book out now too!

Saturday- A totally gloomy and rainy day and we decided that we would take Kyra to her very first movie! We went to the 11am showing so that there wouldn't be a large crowd and that way if Kyra acted up we could get up and leave without too much fuss. It was great, there were only two other families there and Kyra did a stellar job! She did get a little bit antsy in the middle but as soon as another song came on she was good to go again. I was so proud of her and honestly it was really nice to go to a movie as a family.
We saw Home and it was adorable and a lot of fun. Great one for Kyra's first!!

After the movie we went by my parents' place to visit for a bit and Kyra decided to play hide and seek...

Sunday- Morning was spent doing a Walmart run where my husband decided that we needed to get an iced tea maker. For some reason we have been drinking a lot more tea around here and he felt that meant we needed one. Honestly it works really well and saves me from constantly having to put the kettle on!
Displaying IMG_3503.JPG
We also stopped by the garden section and apparently they are painting plants now? Admittedly they were pretty but I avoid cactus on general principle. Too pokey.

Displaying IMG_3487.JPG
We did pick up this little guy however and he reminds me of prehistoric plants for some reason....I dunno why...but he was cute and not expensive so he came home to live with us!
Displaying IMG_3504.JPG
He is really tiny and in a magnetic little pot that I put on the wall!

Then when we got home I saw this little beauty! This is the first time in four years that this iris has bloomed! I cannot tell you how excited I was and most especially since it came up in my favorite color!

Displaying IMG_3499.JPG
The rest of Sunday Funday was spent playing board games with my brother who came to hang out for awhile, finishing up with the newest Game of Thrones episode.

So there you have it, our weekend recap. How was your weekend?

Welcome back!

How was everyone's Labor Day Weekend??

I can only say that mine was particularly random, but in the best of ways! Here are some pictures to show you just what we got up to this weekend!

The fanciest Chicken Coop you have ever seen! My dad built this out of old barn wood and he and my mom did all the painting.

You lucky chickens! ( The red ones are nice...the white ones are really mean...)

Canned Peaches! Mom canned these....there is a peach crisp in my future....

Halloween Preparations....I told you we take this holiday serious!!!

Then there was this little cutie!!!!

Definitely not like anyone's weekend for sure!
