For the Love of a Dog

My weekend unexpected took a turn starting Thursday. I had noticed that Kiya wasn't herself. She seemed tired and slow and I got worried. Then she wasn't eating her food. So I tempted her with some ground beef to see if she would eat that. Nothing. This was serious. My parents came over that afternoon to visit Kyra and my mom said to go ahead and take Kiya to the vet while they watched over Kyra.

The vet visit did not go well. Kiya had a very serious infection that would require surgery. My vet no longer does this kind of surgery and he referred me to several different vets in the area. I asked for a ball park figure on how much it was going to be....$2000-$3500..... and if she didn't have the surgery immediately she wasn't going to make it...like she wasn't going to make it to Monday even.

 I just started to cry.

I left the vet and immediately began calling all the vets nearby. My husband began calling as well. Finally we found one that would do the surgery that night and for a price that was more in our budget. Robert ran Kiya to the vet (about 50 minutes away) while I stayed home with Kyra. They said they would get her into surgery and call us once it was done.

It was so hard to wait and not know. Kiya is 9 years old.....what if she couldn't take the surgery? What if the infection had gotten too far? I was worried sick.

Finally they called. She made it through. They would keep her overnight and call in the morning. If she was okay through the night then I could pick her up.

I can safely say I did not sleep well.

Friday morning promptly at 8am they called to say she was doing fine. I was so so relieved!

Robert was actually leaving for the weekend so my parents offered to take Kyra and me up to pick Kiya up.

She was SO happy to see me! I was SO happy to see her!

She is doing so much better now even though she REALLY hates the cone of shame but I couldn't be happier with her care. They saved my little pup's life. I am just eternally grateful.

Now it's been a long weekend and I am pretty exhausted. Kyra also got some stomach bug over the weekend so I spent the whole time taking care of a sick little girl and a sore little pup. Lots of work...but lots of love too.

Weekend Rambly Stuff

Good Morning Everyone,

Apparently it is June 1st already. Half the year is gone. I have no idea why it is that time is flying by so quickly but here we are.

Though despite how quickly the year is going last week seemed to drag on and on....actually the week was a bit of a mess for me but that is a whole other thing.

I didn't get around to doing my garage sale this past weekend. I just couldn't seem to get everything together in order to get it out there in time. I'm not too worried about it however as it rained pretty much the entire weekend. There will be another weekend I'm sure.

What we did get accomplished on Saturday was a lot of wandering around looking for inspiration on what to get Kyra for her birthday. Mostly just a lot of this happened.

Also we managed to get Bobby some new shorts which I pointed out he needed because the ones he was wearing were started to get a hole in them. He fought at first but thankfully we were able to find some that he liked at Kohls. Win.

I however found absolutely nothing despite trying many things on. Fail.

Sunday morning was spent doing the grocery shopping. It actually wasn't too bad because:
1) I had a list
2) We left super early in the morning and beat the crowd.

We were back home by 10am and I was SO happy about it!

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing laundry, meal planning, and playing endless rounds of blocks/coloring/My Little Pony with Kyra. We also got caught up on all our Hulu Shows during this process.

All in all it was a really nice afternoon and I tried to let myself relax and enjoy myself instead of worrying about what I had to do this week. Of course it all caught up with me about midnight last night and I spent the next two hours in a state of anxious stress until finally passing out from sheer exhaustion. So you know...the normal.

The reason for the stress is this week is going to be a busy one since Kyra's birthday is this Friday!

Two years have flown by...seriously they warn you about this when you get pregnant but you aren't really prepared....

Anyhow so I will be spending the week getting my house in order before her party on Saturday and honestly I'm already freaking out about it. I'm sure it will be fine but honestly worrying has become one of my best skills.
.

Now on I'm off to get started on excessive cleaning that I've convinced myself the house needs. Pray for me.

#ShareYourUgly

Good Morning Everyone,

This was not the post scheduled for today but ever since Jana posted this hashtag last week and made her blog post about it I've been thinking about it. Also yesterday was absolutely a mess. Actually it was beyond mess...it was...awful.

So instead of the post I originally had I'm going to instead share my ugly with you.

I am so overwhelmed and I feel like an absolute failure as a person and adult. I feel this on an almost daily basis anymore.

I have a stack of papers on a shelf that need to be gone through. Most likely they are bills that I will have to decide who gets paid and who goes without this month.

I have a dishwasher that has been broken for two years and a landlord that gives no fucks about it. It's basically just a drying rack now.

My living room is a mess of toys and crayon wrappers. I haven't vacuumed since last Thursday.

My bedroom looks like a bomb went off. My husband just throws his clothes wherever he feels like and they are all over. Kyra's papers are all over the floor. Also about 12 balls of yarn are scattered around from where Kyra got into them a week ago and I haven't gotten around to picking them up.

The carpet leading downstairs is torn apart and pretty much ruined because Luna got bored one day and now it is in shreds.

There are cobwebs hanging from my ceiling that I cannot reach.

I'm having a garage sale this weekend and Kyra's birthday party the following weekend and I'm not prepared for either. Not physically prepared or mentally prepared. I kinda just wanna lay down and cry.

Kyra had an accident in her car seat yesterday and I have no idea how to remove the lining so I can wash it. Can I wash it? My car smells.

Speaking of my car I need new tires, I need to take it in to be checked over as it is having issues, I can't afford to do either.

My eyebrows are so hairy scary that I don't even want to look at my face.

Summertime always brings out my worst fears and loathing of my body. I hate the heat. I hate the clothes. I wish I could live in a parka and pajama pants.

I have exactly 2 girlfriends in my life and one is halfway across the country and the other is halfway across the state. I'm so lonely. I have no one to share any of my fears and doubts with.

I am so drained from this past weekend that I don't want to do anything. I don't want to talk, I don't want to move, I just want to lie in bed and sleep. I can't do these things. I have a little girl that needs my attention, I have a house that is in shambles, and since I'm the one that chose to stay home...it's apparently ALL my responsibility. I feel like a failure for even thinking that anyone should help me....

So there you have it. All the ugly that is going on in my head, in my life, behind the blog. I try to keep it cheerful here and I try to keep it light but honestly after reading Jana's post I just wanted to put these things out there so that others know...it's not always cheerful and light. I'm not always a little ball of sunshine and smiles....even if that is what other people want me to be.

So I encourage you to join in. #ShareYourUgly

Thursday Thoughts: What's Been On My Mind This Week.....

1. Houses are expensive.

2. Student Loans are the spawn of Satan.

3. The simple thought of meal planning makes me groan like a teenager with extra weekend homework. How can I shake this?

4.I think my blog might be boring. Maybe I'm boring?

5. I'm not very focused. My blog is a giant jumble of thoughts most of the time and I have no structure. Basically this is my entire life.

6. I need a pedicure and a manicure....

7. Is it crazy for a person to go out with a pair of scissors and cut down the ridiculously tall dandelions in their yard? The grass is fine but the dandelions were like a foot tall. I mean it only took twenty minutes....

8. Baby #2....when? Soon? I'm still to heavy to think about getting pregnant again aren't I? That is toxic thinking....but it still might be true.

9. Totally forgot to post yesterday. It was confession day. No one is going to read if you don't post regularly. Get it together.

10. The news- this is on everyone's mind I suppose. My heart hurts for the people of Baltimore, two of my friends live there and I worry about them, but I hold out hope for the good. I want to believe the best in people. Nepal- so much devastation and hurt. I'm not a particularly religious person but my thoughts are with all of them and I wish I had more to give.

What's been on your mind this week?

Returning

Good Morning Everyone,

First off, Thank You to all that sent me messages and prayers throughout last week. I really do appreciate every single one of them. I know I didn't get back to emails but honestly the whole week I spent mostly in a fog and when not in the fog trying to be a good wife and mother. I felt very closed down the whole week but I am ready to get back to things.

I will admit to you that I marked all the blogs I missed as "Read" last night. I will get back to reading today but I just missed so much in the past two weeks and it was overwhelming to the point that I was actively avoiding looking at my Bloglovin' Feed. So I marked them as read and was done with it. I'll do better this week.

This week I do plan to get up my Planet Comicon post, My Confessions and I have so many things tagged for Friday Favorites that I am probably going to have to only do half of them this week!

Today however I just wanted to get back into the blogging world and to say thank you to all of you and I leave you with this. I am not sure why but this little penguin was a great source of comfort in those moments between grief and stress...when it all felt like too much. Maybe it will help some of you this Monday Morning.

Big hugs from here.

Thursday Thoughts: Biggest Regret

Good Morning Everyone,

So the other day my youngest brother was over and he asked me,

"What's your biggest regret?"

He's dealing with the whole post college graduation 'I have a degree, now what?' stage of life. I feel bad for him because I remember being 23 and wondering what I was going to do with my life...now here I sit at 29 and I still don't know.

Anyhow when he asked me I initially thought COLLEGE but honestly I met my best friends in college so that wasn't true.

My biggest regret is the Student Loan I took out.

Ugh I hate that thing.

It's like the albatross around my neck....or an anchor....either way it is keeping me down and it makes my life harder than it should be...

I have been paying on that thing since 2007. I've been paying every single month....and it is still not below 30 grand. Thanks interest rate!

I hate that I am in debt for something I didn't finish. I started off with trying to get a degree in journalism but it was just WAY too cutthroat for me. Also I hate badgering people for interviews and I could care less about the news. After that I was lost at sea. Don't go to college without a sure plan of what you want to do...and a backup just in case.   I have so many friends with degrees that aren't even working in the field they have the degree in....or they are working at a Target or other retail chain because employers want experience along with the very expensive piece of paper. It's so frustrating how much education costs in this country. It's frustrating to know that I will most likely be paying for this thing up until Kyra goes to college.

I wish I would have just kept working and saving my money. I wish that I would have used that money for more fun things instead of feeling overwhelming guilt every time I wanted something. I still have issues with the whole guilt thing...I want something so badly until I get to the store and pick up the item and then suddenly I am filled with immediate panic over whether or not I should spend the money. Shouldn't I be saving it? What if there is an emergency? What if? What if?

It's exhausting.

So that is my biggest regret...I know it is the one that I have shed the most tears over.

What's your biggest regret?

Mommy Needs a Vacation

Good Morning Everyone,

This morning I woke up in a blind panic thinking, "Crap! I'm late for work!" but then Kyra smacked me in the face with her foot and I realized, "Oh no I'm not. I'm at work....I'm always at work."

This weekend was deer hunting weekend at my husband's Mom and Step-Dad's. Which means my husband left on Friday and now it is Monday morning and he is still not home. Sure he sat out in the cold for hours and all that jazz....but he did it out of fun. He got a whole weekend away from responsibilities...I want to not be jealous as he does it every year but...damn I could use a weekend away.

So without the hubs around commenced a "girls weekend"....aka Kyra and me.

Friday wasn't too bad. My parents had some errands to run and invited us along. I can actually get some shopping done when there are two other people there to distract Kyra. Especially my parents because she would rather be with them than me anyway.

Saturday was a day of chores. Laundry, general cleaning, and trying to keep Kyra out of mischief. My whole family ended up getting really sick so we didn't go visit them the rest of the weekend. Mom has the flu, brother has a cold, and Dad broke out in hives. So basically it was just Kyra and me all day. She thought it was fun....I mostly just felt exhausted because I can't count the number of times I had to say: "Don't Touch That!" "No!" "Kyra please don't sit on the dog." "Kyra please don't do that" "Get that out of your mouth!"  She did take a nap however and I got a lot of work done on the scarf that I am knitting. It is my first knitting project and it is just a scarf for myself but...I'm really slow. However I am really proud of how it is turning out and I will be sure to share it with you all once it is finished!

Sunday was more of the same. Laundry, cleaning...blah blah. Also my dog Brian has now decided since my husband is out of town he can get on the furniture. Um NO. Dog has no respect for me. My family was still sick except for Dad who had to work. So no visiting there. I did take Kyra out for an hour to run to the grocery store because they were having a sale on baking items and I needed flour. It was worth getting Kyra all geared up in winter clothes to score flour for .99 cents! Brown Sugar was also .99 cents and regular sugar was just a $1.29. Seriously you cannot pass up deals like that. Plus I was out of coffee....and no one wants that.

Now it is Monday...my husband isn't home yet and probably won't be until later this afternoon. Kyra had me up at five after the face kicking incident....so I've already mopped the floors and dusted this morning. Now I am sipping coffee, listening to my neighbors fight while their two year old screams, watching Kyra grind Cheez Its into my carpet, and dreaming of the vacation I'm going to take someday....somewhere where the tub is deep enough to cover both your boobs and your knees at the same time....that's the dream I tell ya.

Happy Monday Everyone.

Confession Day: Scott Pilgrim Style

Hello Everyone,

Nope, no Good Morning today. Honestly I am really only blogging so that I can keep my sanity right now.  So let's just get to it.

I confess that this morning has been a total shit show. Please pardon the language but sometimes the expletives are necessary.

I confess I was dressed, had my makeup on, Kyra was dressed and after two hours of absolutely everything being awful and just plain taking WAY longer and being WAY harder than it should be, I called it all off. We were supposed to go to story time and I was going to run errands but to hell with it. We are now in bum around clothes and Kyra is in her high chair with some juice and scrambled eggs happily singing to herself now that she is out of the sweater that she was crying about wearing. Seriously she is 1 and yet she is already protesting my outfit choices for her.

I confess that I need a new winter coat because the one I have fits everywhere but my freaking boobs. Seriously they just got huge after I had Kyra and they refuse to go down. I've lost 18 inches all over BUT NOT MY CHEST!

I confess that the stress of this morning has me wanting to EAT ALL THE THINGS. Because you know...I'm a stress eater.

I confess that my cup of coffee is my best friend right now.

I confess that I spent all day yesterday thinking about being positive and putting positive vibes out there and that good things come when you do that....yeah right now if I met yesterday me on the street I would probably throat punch her. Some days just suck like that.

I confess I didn't even have a confessions post ready...and that I totally forgot about blogging yesterday because I've been working on the novel instead and yes I should plan ahead ...

I confess that I love all you lovely blog people and thank god you all come here to listen to my daily ranting. You all rock.

I'm out.

P.S.- Scott Pilgrim rocks my socks.

Hot Mama Monday- Trying to get my Mojo back

Good Morning Everyone and Welcome!

Late post this morning because it has been a busy one and also I am not really feeling very well, but I didn't want to miss a Monday Morning with you all!

Today I am going to talk about my attempts to get my Mojo back.

Weight loss has always been a real struggle for me. Sometimes I'm up and sometimes I'm down. There is very little rhyme or reason to my really great losses and my really great gains other than general happiness. That isn't to say right now isn't a happy time for me but my stress levels are at an all time high.

My biggest problem is getting discouraged when things don't go well. When I have a bad day, or a bad week it tends to spiral out of control and suddenly it has been weeks since my last good workout and I haven't logged my calorie intake.

I'm not sure why it always has to be "all or nothing" with me but I am trying to work on it. This week in particular I am going to try and get myself back into the mindset of weight loss and feeling motivated. I know I'm not in my good mindset but almost there at the moment because this morning the following scene happened.

Brownies in the kitchen.

Me: I could have one of those for breakfast.

Inner Me: Yeah you could but what about trying to lose weight? Weren't you going to start off right today?

Me:Whatever, I don't care. I just want to feel better.

Inner Me: Yes you do. You do care. You want to look good, you want to feel good. You DO care.

Me: .....okay.

So I had my scheduled breakfast and left the brownie alone.

I got to thinking about it however and I thought...Why would the brownie make me feel better? This morning has been pretty stressful. 13 dogs and a baby to care for really pushes my limits and it makes my morning very busy. Kennel to clean, change the towels, walk the dogs, feed the dogs, give the baby a bottle, make the baby breakfast and on mornings where I have forgotten to write my blog ahead of time, I have to get a blog post up. STRESS.

So I am going to try and not let stress dictate how I eat. That will be step one.

Step 2 will be that I will work out for 30 minutes every day or else do three miles every day. I'm not a step counter but I saw this on Pinterest the other day and I thought....hey that sounds manageable.
A Celebrity Trainer Shares a Tip That Helped Her Lose 30 Pounds ~ The 3 or 30 rule
Step 3 is to try and look at as much motivational material as possible. I am trying to really pin things that make me feel more inspired to stick to my plan and that inspire me.

Have patience.
So those are the goals for this week. I realize that they are not as concrete as my previous ones but I feel like while I am trying to get my Mojo back they are the ones that I really need to focus on.

What are your goals for the week? What helps you stay motivated? Are you feeling your Mojo this week? Leave a comment down below!

Confession Day 7/9

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Hump Day!

Vodka and Soda

...I confess that lately I have been wanting to run off to another country...partially because I feel the need to travel....partially because I want to run away and not be an adult anymore....
Being an adult is not going to work for me
...I confess that I'm headed for a pit of despair when I think about my car. The air compressor is going out and unless I drive 70mph the air doesn't get cold in my car. Not comfortable for me and the baby. Seriously this is how I feel right now...

...I confess that this has been me for the past two nights....
*clap clap*

...I confess that in one weekend I managed to undo all the progress I had made on the weight loss front. I may never be thin again. I'm not sure I care at the moment....

...I confess that I have given up trying to tame my hair this summer. It is going to be in either a bun or a braid the rest of the season. Going to be rockin' it like Katniss.

...I confess that the only way I will be rocking said braid is if I have my Mum do it. I can't French braid or Dutch Braid....you'd think with all this hair I would be a pro at styling...hah!

... I confess that I am really bummed no one joined my link up.

...I confess I've been thinking of taking the blog down or making it private. I'm confused why some blogs are SO popular and have SO many followers even after only being up for like...a year. What am I doing wrong?

...I confess that I didn't mean for this to be such a downer post and the gif above was an attempt to cheer myself up.

...I confess if I could sew I would spend the rest of the month locked up and creating Cosplay costumes. I blame Heroes of Cosplay for this. Also the fact that I am not in fact a real adult.

...I confess I will be spending my evening watching The Walking Dead over again, reading all the confession blogs and drinking a glass of wine, except it probably won't be wine and will most likely just be water because of this....

Okay kids, I'm out of here. Happy Hump Day Everyone!

Wednesday Confessions

Good Morning Everyone!

It's Wednesday and that means it is Confession Day!!

Vodka and Soda

The Hump Day Blog Hop

One
This has been like the most crazy couple of weeks. Between birthdays and planning and household chores....it has just been madness. I am not kidding when I say that I will be so relieved once things calm down again....

Two
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it though some of you will have a fit, but I am OVER summer time. I hate the heat. I hate the humidity and I want my cold temps back again. Seriously, just send me to Antarctica, anything to be away from the heat....

Three
I kinda suck at planning things. I start to do something and then don't finish because of distractions and whatnot. This birthday planning business is tough and even though I am so excited that everything is working out and Kyra is going to have an awesome first birthday, this is exhausting. However I will be so happy to see her little face when we go to the zoo on Sunday!

Four
I keep meaning to work on my YouTube reviews/favorites videos but won't film until things 1. calm down and 2. I get my eye brows done. Honestly the eyebrows are the biggest issue. I have to get them done today because I do not....

Five
I love thrifty shopping. Seriously I have looked at my receipt from the K-mart like fifty times. I got eye shadow for 29 cents! I got an entire winter wardrobe for Kyra for under 15 bucks! Seriously I have been searching for other store closings because that was boss.

Okay some short confessions this week because I am already late for running out the door to get Kyra to story time and I am going to pick up my Mum so she can go with us. Then I have to work on the blog post for tomorrow because tomorrow is Kyra's 1st Birthday!!!!!

See you all tomorrow!!
