Throwback Thursday: I look the same...

Morning Everyone,

Today I thought it would be fun to share some Throwback Thursday photos.

Baby Kimmy

Such a cute little poser. I loved being in front of the camera when I was little.

I was a big fan of bows. I remember having a whole bunch of them that I would sort through and pick which one that I wanted for the day. My mom always made sure it matched my outfit and she even made a lot of them.

Yep I look the same. Even though this was fourth grade. I had a hat that matched that vest FYI. It was a throwback to Blossom....remember that show? Yeah it was black with a massive sunflower on it. Also I hated my glasses and cried for hours when I found out I would need them. I still hate wearing my glasses and only wear them when I feel like death.
Senior Year. Yep Still look the same. Yep my hair is the same. Don't care I like it this way! I actually felt really pretty when this one was taken. Senior Year was pretty awesome.

Hope you all enjoyed! If you feel like sharing your throwback photos let me know in the comments!

Happy Thursday!

Throwback Thursday: Teenage Dream

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am going to share a very special Throwback Thursday for you all.

Pretty much every teenage girl goes through a phase of being absolutely head over heels in love with some star or another. Usually that girl posts pictures of her beloved all over her walls to moon over.

I was definately one of those girls.

With one exception.

I did have them all over my walls but instead I framed mine into collages.

One such collage was unearthed while my mom was cleaning out her closet in preparation for our garage sale this weekend.

I now share with you....my Teenage Dreams.

As you can see Leonardo DiCaprio was one of my favorites. That is an actual movie stub in there from when I went and saw Titanic. Personally I loved him more as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, but hey he was a cutie no matter the movie. (Why doesn't he have an Oscar yet?)

David Boreanaz aka Angel on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Oh man.....I crushed so hard on him. I am a hard core Buffy fan and Angel was one of the big reasons I fell in love with that show.  I actually have a signed photo of him in another collage like this one!

Devin Sawa....wow. What ever happened to him? Loved him in Casper and of course in Wild America (excellent movie btw) which is featured in the bottom right. I liked JTT but I loved Sawa more!  Scott Bairstow was pretty cute too....

Also a unicorn because....well because unicorns are awesome.

So what do you think of my little blast from the past? Did you post pictures on your walls? Who were your teenage dreams?

Life Stories

Good Morning Everyone,

Today in honor-ish of Throw Back Thursday I am going to be posting a few of my "Lifestories". I got the idea from Mama's Losin It blog and honestly I thought it was just hilariously awesome.

Basically these are stories that get told every time you get together with a group of people. Everyone has them and you laugh about them even though you have heard them a million times. Also they are usually stories that embarrass you and you wish would die but you know they never will so you laugh anyhow.

So I give you:

1) When we were younger I pushed my brother (Named Bear here on the blog) off the couch and he broke his collar bone.

2) While at the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum there was a room with mirrored walls and ceiling. There were little twinkle lights in it and basically it looked as if there was no bottom, as if you were looking out into space. Bear asked if there was a floor. I said I didn't know but we could find out...and I pushed him in. My parents were horrified. There was a floor and he only fell a couple inches but still....horrifying.

3) Bear got in trouble with his grades and he was arguing with my mom about it and she got so mad she threw a fork and it hit the table and stuck! Hilarious for me and my youngest brother but to this day Bear teases her about it.

4) Bear (man a lot of these stories are about him aren't they?) was a pretty mouthy child and he made me mad at one point when I was babysitting. He insists on telling everyone he was afraid for his life as I attacked him with "Gorilla Arms".

5) Youngest brother yells "I can't breathe! Mom make him stop!" Mom yells at Bear. Bear yells back "I'm not even in the same room as him!" He wasn't in the same room and youngest brother was in the same room as Mom she was just busy and he thought he would see if he could get away with it.

So those are a few of our Family Lifestories....and I sound really mean and my brother Bear is apparently involved in all of these....also the youngest is a trouble maker.....don't we sound like fun?

What are some of the stories that you all tell? Let me hear 'em!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Throwback Thursday: Guinea Pigs and Pancakes

Good Morning Everyone,

First off let me thank each and every one of you that come here to read my blog. Some comment and that is AWESOME and some don't and that is fine too. I apologize for my little pity party yesterday. I suddenly realized at some point yesterday while reading comments and really thinking about things that I was being selfish and while my readership isn't huge, it is SIGNIFICANT. You are all important to me and each and every comment I get is greeted with a proper fangirl scream. I promise you.

So again, Thank You to all of you!

Now back to the task at hand....Throwback Thursday.

Now I know you all have seen the Throwback Thursday pictures. Fun images of times past but I thought it would be fun to share a memory of times past! Today I will share the story of Guinea Pigs and Pancakes!

It was finals week of Freshman year and not a one of us was studying. Honestly we had all be studying for the past week and now that there were only two days left in the semester we just didn't have it in us to go through any more notes or quiz anymore flashcards. We were done.

The dorm room was small and my roommate and I had crammed as much stuff in it as possible but there was the tiny rug in the center of the room that was free of clutter and that was where we gathered, my roommate, her boyfriend at the time who would later become my best friend, Matthew, Robert, my future husband, and myself. Sitting in a circle around the board game and laughing in a way that reveled in our rebellion.

We were going on our fifth round of the game, still laughing and carrying on with all the carefree joy that is 2am procrastination, when it happened.

Ginny was giving birth.

Ginny was a guinea pig that I had gotten along with another guinea pig. They were both supposed to be girls. They were not.

So the game came to a standstill as four "adults" gathered around the cage to watch the miracle of life. After about an hour there were three new little guinea pigs in the world.

FYI guinea pigs are born ready to go. Their eyes are open, they have fur, and they eat solid food. Just a fun fact.

It was pretty awesome as we all raised our glasses (of soda of course!) to the new mother and toasted her success. It was all pretty hilarious and uplifting until they all started to squeal along with us..(they aren't called "pigs" for nothing!)

Once the little family had settled down and it was now at the point of "well might as well just stay up" that we decided we were hungry. The only place open? International House of Pancakes.

Now again we were freshmen. Freshmen have to park in the lot farthest away from campus. Still nothing was going to stop us, we were still too excited from the game, the miracle, the rebellion! So we gathered up and piled into my car and set off in search of pancakes.

It is an odd assortment of people that gather at the IHOP at 4am on a Thursday morning. You have other rebellious college students (mostly frat guys) ordering omelets and full sides of pancakes. Shift workers looking half asleep downing cup after cup of coffee. The EMO kids with sunny side up eggs or just a side of toast. Our favorite however were the drag queens. A hilarious group still on a rush from the performance the night before, dressed to the nines and toasting one another with orange juice and buttermilk flapjacks. We couldn't help but laugh along with them and admire the intense amount of makeup that still was in place at 4am.

After breakfast we all felt exhausted and ready to finally call it a night. We parked the car in the lot and started the long trek back to the dorm. That was when it started to rain. It might have been a hard slog back but something about that rain, something about that whole night actually...well it just couldn't have been more perfect. We laughed, spirits renewed, and ran through the rain.

This night is one of my favorite memories because it marks the beginning of some of the best years of our lives. Hope you enjoyed!

Here is my Husband and I on our wedding day. Matthew was Robert's best man.

Big hugs from here! Happy Thursday Everyone!

A Different Kind of Throwback Thursday

Dear 19 (omg it has been ten years…) year old me,

I’m writing you this letter because now that ten years have passed I am for sure older than you and though some days it may not seem like it, I am wiser. So as a “wiser” person I thought I would give you a few little tips to help you on your journey. Even though some of them will be too little too late, just roll with it and trust me.

First and foremost because I know it is the biggest thing you are worried about even though it shouldn’t be. YES you will get married. YES you will have a gorgeous child. That is all I am giving you on that, but since I know it is something that keeps you up at night I thought I would be kind and just let you know now that it all works out in the end.

Now to the other stuff:

.........Enjoy yourself. Get out of your dorm room and have some fun! I know that college was a big step. It is scary but you have to get out of your room for more than just class and the amazing baked potatoes in the cafeteria.

........WORK OUT. For real. Cheerleading is over and you need to supplement the activity. Baked potatoes are not calorie free even if you are eating them in the privacy of your dorm room.

........Do not get guinea pigs. Just trust me.

........Don’t worry that you don’t seem to really “click” with the other girls in your dorm. It’s okay. You are going to meet some truly amazing people and they will be your friends for life. Not one of them live with you freshman year.

........DO NOT fall into the hoodie and sweatpants trap!

........DO NOT take out student loans. So not worth it.

........DO call home. A Lot. You will miss them. They will miss you. It will do you good.

.......Go easy on Mom. She is just trying to do her best for you. You will really appreciate her in the years to come.

.......Stop stressing out so much about what everyone is thinking. They are not thinking about you. They are 9 out of 10 times thinking about themselves.

.......Smile a lot and often. People love it when you do.

.......Never be ashamed of your body. It may not look like everyone else, but that is the beauty of it.

......Write more. You need it now more than ever. Write all your thoughts, hopes, and dreams down. They are powerful.

......Stay up late and play board games during finals week. Stay up all night in fact and then get IHOP at 5am and run home in the pouring rain. It is still one of my best memories.

......Let your freak flag fly. You are a Fangirl. You love Harry Potter, Movies, Books, Anime, Cosplay, and pretty much all things nerdy. OWN IT.

......Remember that you are not required to have your whole life figured out right now. Trust me on this because even ten years down the road you won’t have it all figured out….but somehow it all seems perfect anyway.

.....And one last thing.....Some words to live by....

I hope these tips help. I’m cheering for you girly.

Sincerely,
You.

Throwback Thursday

Good Morning Everyone!

So I was really lost on what to post today. I wanted to do a "Thrifty Thursday" and post my thrift store haul from yesterday but honestly the thought of messing about with my camera and trying to get a place in my house with lighting and a good background....ugh too much work for this Thursday morning and it has already been a full morning!

But lucky for me, my friend posted a Throwback Thursday picture on Facebook this morning and I thought "Hey! I haven't done one of those in a while!" and low and behold my post for today!

Feast your eyes on the rockin' 80's awesomeness.....

This is me (in the rocking chair, rocking the mouse ears) and my best friend from childhood that we shall refer to as Miss J.

Point of fact I still own that rocking chair, it is being fixed up for my daughter's room.

Also still own the mouse ears.

Also the Popples Pajamas that Miss J is rocking in this one.

Anyone else remember Popples? Or is everyone in blog land a baby now from the 90s?

I think I still have my original Popple....he was green with like an orange mohawk.....ah the 80s......

Sidenote- Miss J is also the reason that I got into Zumba. She and I attend every Tuesday and Thursday night! She knew I would love it because we were famous (infamous?) for our dance off parties!

Hugs to all out there, Happy Throwback Thursday!
