Today's prompt: Favorite Book
This is SO HARD.
Choosing a favorite is like pulling teeth, I mean seriously....they are all good for so many different reasons!!!
So I'm gonna cheat. I'm gonna give you my top ten. #sorrynotsorry
In no particular order:
1. The Harry Potter Series- I really love this series for the more obvious reasons but the not so obvious one is that these are the books that got my youngest brother interested in reading! I started reading these to him when he was 11 (same age as Harry!) and he fell in love with the story and even when I went away to Europe for two weeks he was calling me and telling me that he wanted me to read to him! Since then he has loved books and most especially audio books. So Thank you Harry Potter, it's a memory I will always love.
2. The Lord of the Rings - I read this in high school and the introduced me (and pretty much everyone) to the Epic Fantasy novel. They are for sure "crunchy" books but I do adore the story, even years later!
3. The Iron Druid Series by Kevin Hearne- These are just pure fantasy fun and thanks to my other brother for introducing me to these! They are quick reads but I am so invested in the characters, I love the mythology, and I WANT and Irish Wolfhound!
4. The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle- I loved the movie when I was little and in fact too young to really understand what it was about! The book is even deeper and I really love it. I has a special place on my bookshelf.
5. The Wolf Brother Series by Michelle Paver- Again I have my youngest brother to thank for this one, even though I finished the series way before he did! This is just a great series for the fantasy lover and also it has a lot to do with growing up and finding your place in the world. Excellent series!
6. The Nerdist Way by Chris Hardwick- This book was kind of life changing for me. That sounds so super lame but honestly I am not kidding. I now completely and utterly embrace my nerdy ways where before I kind of kept it on the DL. I am a nerd and I obsess about loads of nerdy things. However this book will teach you to not only embrace your inner nerd but also really learn to use it to your advantage and put it to work in your daily life! Such a great book and I am so glad that being nerdy is finally something I can embrace and love.
7. On Writing by Stephen King- Wonderful blend of a Memoir and a Tool kit for the writer. I don't really read a whole lot of Stephen King but I do completely agree with his tool box kit for those looking to be a better writer. I listen to this audio book every couple of months to remind myself to write all the time and to just brush back up on the basics and not get too bogged down with worrying about what people will think of my writing. Just Write!
8. A Dog's purpose by Cameron W. Bruce- I love dogs. I have always had a dog in my life and this book touched me so deeply. I cried, I laughed, and I felt like someone finally got what it means to have a dog. Now this book is written in the POV of a dog and as that title states he is trying to find his purpose. Never before has anyone written such a wonderful idea of what a dog's purpose might be. I LOVED this book and the sequel. Please read this, but bring tissues.
9. Belladonna by Anne Bishop- Wonderful fantasy book. Completely new world to dive into and if you love fantasy and magic and a little love story, you will love this one.
10. The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl by Shauna Reed- Diet Girl is the reason I started to blog. No joke. Now her blog is no longer up but the book is there for those of you that missed out on her journey. Part weight loss memoir, part wonderful life story it is just a great book for anyone and everyone. All bloggers should read.
I still need to borrow your Harry Potter books! :)
