7 Deadly Sins....of Reading

Good Morning Everyone,

As I confessed to you all yesterday, I am having a bit of a tough time with blogging ideas. Between NaNoWriMo and the every day trials of life I just haven't felt the blogging spark.

So what to post today? Well I'm going to be stealing Borrowing a post from Kenzie over at Chasing My Extraordinary!

I give you....

The 7 Deadly Sins of Reading

Greed: What is your Most Inexpensive Book/ Expensive?
Well my most Inexpensive books have either been free or down to like .25 cents at the thrift store...I just can't stand to leave books abandoned there on the thrift store shelves! Most Expensive book would probably be one of my Harry Potter books.

Wrath: What Author do you have a Love/Hate Relationship with?
George RR Martin. I love the Game of Thrones series, but he just kills people off! People I care about!!! Also I hate waiting so long between books....

Gluttony: What book have you devoured over and over with no shame?
I reread books all the time....but probably Harry Potter, The Iron Druid Series, and the book Joust by Mercedes Lackey

Sloth: What book have you neglected reading due to laziness?
At the moment it is Maze Runner. I want to start it but I just get distracted by other things.

Pride: What book do you talk about most to sound like an intellectual reader?
I don't really do this...I read because I like to read and often it isn't "intellectual" reading. It's just reading for fun. I read a lot of that "intellectual" stuff in college and honestly all I really care about is a good story with good characters.

Lust: What attributes do you find attractive in Male/Female characters?
I like both male and female to be strong characters with senses of humor. Even if that humor is bone dry (ie Harry Dresden) it has to be in there somewhere. Also I like the ones with "dark" pasts and secrets.

Envy: What book would you most like to receive as a gift?
I want all of the books!
But seriously the ones I am lusting after currently?
School for Good and Evil: A world without Princes By Simone Chainani
The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place by Julie Berry
Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini
Pennyroyal Academy by M.A. Larson
And the missing hardback copies of my editions of The Series of Unfortunate Events (I got half of them at the thrift store but I NEED the rest!!!)

Confessions 11/5

Morning Everyone,

It's Time for Confession.

I confess that when told my Halloween costume was "slutty" I just shook that off because seriously I am done with feeling insecure about my body.

I confess that I am seriously considering buying something cheap from Sephora just so I can get the sample bag that they are offering. I WANT IT. There is nothing else I wanna cough up money for at the moment though...I mean my birthday is in a month and Christmas....ugh WHY do they always offer the good stuff when I am not spending money??

I confess that I am apparently not too cheap to go out and get a new DVD. Maleficent was AMAZING and now I own it!

I confess that I have watched Kyra walk around the dining room table about 30 times. No clue what she is doing....

I confess that these confessions seem boring and lame without the linkup....

I confess I really miss the Blogtober prompts because I am really lacking in the idea department lately...

I confess that that is all my confessions because I am tired and I still have a word count to reach...

Happy Wednesday.

Tuesday Tunes: Writing Music

Good Morning Everyone,

So if you are like me you are currently fretting about word counts, dialogue, and character traits.

Yep NaNoWriMo is upon us and for some of us that means we are desperately trying to keep motivated and keep plugging along at our word counts.

For some of us that is a harder task than you can even imagine.

Let's face it, sometimes inspiration just doesn't fall from the heavens and more often than not we are left staring at a blank page.

So what to do?

Yep Music. For some reason music inspires writing. It can be any kind of music, whatever makes you tingle. Anything from T. Swift to Metallica....there is no limit to what can spark a little story in you.

Here's what I like:

I prefer a lot of instrumental so that words don't get me distracted:

Something hard and rocking to make me wanna fight for a character. Or get them to fight for themselves.

Moody stuff...because you know, sometimes you just gotta brood.

And occasionally the hidden gem from a movie soundtrack.

So go ahead and take a break from your writing and hit up your music device of choice. Sometimes even just letting the random playlists from Pandora or Spotify can spark something awesome, however I am WAY to controlling for those so I just make my own playlists!

What music do you listen to while writing?

Ever had a song inspire an entire story?

Does anyone else make up music videos to go along with a song they are listening to? Just me?

Happy Writing Everyone!

NaNoWriMo: Day 1

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you all had a safe and happy Halloween last night and got lots and lots of treats!

It is strange that October is already over and now it is November...this year has gone so quickly and now with only two months left....it is very strange that 2015 is right around the corner!

Last month I did #Blogtober and having only missed three days out of 31 I felt pretty awesome! It was great to have so many published posts on the blog, I got to find A LOT more blogs to follow and it is super awesome that some of you even chose to follow along with me.

Now today begins a new challenge.

Today marks Day 1 of NaNoWriMo.

For those that might not know that is National Novel Writing Month. You have the next thirty days to write 50,000 words, the length of most novels. (For those that must know that is about 1667 words per day)  It is an intense exercise in writing and it takes some serious dedication and determination to make your word count.

This will be my third time competing. The first time I completed the challenge I was elated. Nothing came of the story except some really good ideas....which I had hoped to implement into my next story in my second NaNoWriMo challenge. However I found out at that time that I was expecting Kyra so writing took a back burner to my general excitement at being a new mom. Last year I didn't even attempt it because I had a five month old and being a new mom was a major change in my life. It took a while before I got into any kind of rhythm that let me have a little time to blog let alone work on actual writing.

However this year I am ready again. Kyra is able to sit and play on her own for at least fifteen minutes at a time and I plan to make use of those fifteen minutes and nap times for my writing.

That means that a few chores will go undone during the day and I will have to make up for them later but...this is worth it.

If you are new to the challenge I want you to chant this to yourself the entire month:

IT IS WORTH IT.

I know it seems crazy. It seems like a massive amount of words for one month, but you can do this. You can write an entire novel in a month. It will be messy, it won't make complete sense, there will be plot holes and contradictions, but it will be written. That is the thing you must remember. Writers write...it's not perfect all the time....but if you are a writer...you write.

So cheers to you all that are taking on the challenge and know I am going to be right there along with you; Fueled with WAY too many cups of coffee, staying up all hours of the night working in the dark, and fretting over characters that I love.

Ready? Let's do this.

#Blogtober~ About Me

  Good Morning Everyone,

So today for Blogtober I am supposed to write about me, well since that is already the prompt I thought I would also incorporate these lovely awards I got last week! I was awarded the One Lovely Blog award from both Carly at Musings of a Wanderer and Chelsea from Cats and Cappuccino!

I can't tell you how excited I was to be nominated twice! Since I was nominated twice and since it is the About Me post I will do 14 items about myself instead of just 7!

THE RULES…
Thank and link back to the awesome person who nominated you
Share 7 things about yourself (in my case 14!)
Nominate 15 other bloggers and comment on their blogs to let them know

14 Facts About Me

1) My birthday is Christmas Eve and this year I will be 30!

(LOL j/k I don't care about being 30! It is what it is!)
2) I LOVE Scary movies. However I will have to watch a Disney movie afterward if it is late at night!

3) I am 1/4 Hawaiian.
(This is obviously NOT ME.)

4) I have over 75 notebooks full of stories I have written since I was 11. Writing is my life!

5)Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my FAVORITE show when I was in Jr. high and HS. I own all the seasons now.

6) I wear flip flops pretty much all year round.

7) My house is always less than 68 degrees. I don't do "heat".

8) I spontaneously break out into song and dance. Like I am in a musical.

9) I am the oldest of three children.

10) I am a dog person. Seriously...I have four.

11) Sweet tea is my drink of choice other than water. Soda just doesn't do it for me. (Coffee is my life blood and therefore not a drink)

12) I climbed to the top of a castle tower in England.

13) My favorite candy bar is Whatchamacallit.

14) When I was six I was a Bat for Halloween. My mom made the costume and it ROCKED. I was an awesome kid.

So there are some VERY random facts about me and since I am not sure just who all has received this award I am just going to nominate EVERYONE to do it if you wanna!

Have a great day everyone! See you tomorrow...it's HALLOWEEN!!
