Monday Mantra 12/15

Good Morning Everyone,

Today felt like a good day for a Monday Mantra.

The #1 Reason Most People Fail - Money Saving Mom®

I've talked a bit about weight loss here on the blog, but I try not to go "too" into it because I don't consider myself a weight loss blogger anymore. However I do like to share my struggles and successes because I like to read about them on other blogs and know other people like to read about them as well.

This past weekend one of my best friends came into town. We had an amazing time and even though I have no pictures to prove it (seriously I didn't even bother with my phone) it was one to remember.

Weekends like that however rarely involve good food choices for me. We went out to eat on Friday and I indulged big time. Then Saturday was like Snack Central. Sunday wasn't as bad but still not many "healthy" choices were made.

I didn't think about it then because I was like "forget this, I'm going to just focus on the fun and not worry about it. It's just a weekend!"

This was a breakthrough of sorts.

Normally today I would be racked with guilt over the things I ate and would punish myself by not eating today or eating as much food as I could shove in my mouth. Stupid I know.

This morning however I got up, I made my healthy breakfast for Kyra and myself and then filled up my water jug with the intent to guzzle the 60 oz I am supposed to have every day. I didn't step on the scale. I didn't worry that I couldn't get right back on track. Because I can. I can do this. I know that this one weekend of fun won't ruin all the work I've done. I know that today I need to just get back into the swing of things and eat what I know to be good for me.

I won't punish myself. That is a ridiculous thing to do.

Instead I choose to push forward.

I got this.

Happy Monday Everyone.

The Christmas Quest

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I'm going to tell you a little story.

Every year it seems like around this time we find ourselves with a Quest.

This year's quest?

Finding the elusive ornament.

Every year we get a Hallmark ornament. Sunday we decided we would go shopping for ours this year. We got to the store and it was super crowded and it was making Kyra pretty fussy so we stepped outside to look up the options online.

The online listings had a lot more ornaments than we saw in the store but there were two ornaments in particular that we knew we had to have.

Behold "Baby Mine"  and "The Great White Menace"

I wanted "Baby Mine" for Kyra for sure. I love the movie Dumbo of course but the song in particular always makes me cry..in a good way! Bobby had to have Jaws just because it had the theme song and well you know it's JAWS!!

Both were out of stock at the Hallmark we were at so we drove to another Hallmark a few miles away.

Out of stock.

So we get on the phone and call the mall that is about 45 minutes away. Out of stock. The girl then tells us that these two particular ornaments were very popular this year and they have been out of stock for weeks.

You may not know this about Bobby and me but we are competitive and now that we know these are hard to find...it has become a Quest!

Ornament Challenge: ACCEPTED

We look up the numbers for all the Hallmark stores in a 100 mile radius and Bobby starts calling.

Out of stock. Out of Stock. Out of Stock.

Finally he finds a store that has "Baby Mine". They put it on hold for us but they don't have "Jaws".

The calls continue.

Success! There is one store that has the display model of "Jaws" left and they are willing to sell it to us...however we have to pick it up that night!

So we drop Kyra off at my parents and get on our way. Both stores that we have to get to are a LONG way away....and it is 3pm by now....the stores close at 5pm.

It's a race against time.

We arrive at the first store by 4pm and pick up "Baby Mine". It's finally ours! SO PRETTY!

One down....now we just have to get our fishy friend!

As we start the journey to the other store we notice that one of Kyra's toys has become lodged under Bobby's seat.

We now have to listen to Polly Wolly Doodle....for 40 minutes. No joke.

At last we arrive and the lovely ladies sell us our toothy friend!!

Victory!!!

Confessions 12/10

Good Morning Everyone,

Welcome to Confession Day!

So I legit completely forgot to blog yesterday! I actually had a post planned and everything ready to go and then I just forgot! Seriously I was sitting in my bed at midnight last night (knitting) and suddenly it occurred to me that I didn't blog! Oops.

We've been binge watching American Horror Story: Coven for the past two days and it is just awesome. That show is all sorts of messed up and yet I CANNOT LOOK AWAY.

I confess that Ulta is killing me right now. They sent me a 20% off EVERYTHING coupon...even prestige cosmetic lines! I wanna go buy things! I'm on a "no buy" however because my birthday and Christmas...but....oh I want all the things!

I confess that I am SO BAD when it comes to presents....I just want to put everything we bought Kyra up so that she can play with it! I have to keep reminding myself how awesome it will be Christmas Morning however....it is seriously so tough thought! #thestruggleisreal

I confess that I am going to be working on a hilarious Christmas post for tomorrow. I really wish I would have vlogged last weekend so you could have been part of the hilarity that happened, but trust me, it will still be a good read!

I confess that I am SO EXCITED for this weekend! My friend Amanda is coming in to visit and I cannot wait to see her face! She is so super awesome and we are going to rock this weekend. There will be wine involved.

That's it for me today. Now it's time to get to work on more Christmas stuff! Happy Wednesday Everyone!

Linking up in a new linkup for me! #Hashtaghumpday!

Friday Favorites: Birthday/Christmas Wishlist Edition

Good Morning Everyone,

Happy Friday!!! Today we are doing our Friday Favorites!

Today's Favorites are brought to you via my Birthday/Christmas wishlist! It's a random assortment of things on the list that I thought might inspire others if they are looking for gifts or if you are just having trouble coming up with things for your own list!

1.  Bellami Hair Wand-This particular hair wand has 6 different attachments for different types of curls. It is one of the "big" names on YouTube. Super Expensive but hey it's a Wishlist!

2. Snowflake Rings- I found these pretty things via Pinterest and have yet to find them elsewhere...however I fell in love with the idea of snowflake rings in general. If I see one anywhere I am buying it!

3. Panda Mugs- How cute are these?! I love Pandas and I do not have a single panda mug!

4. Glam Glow Set- I have been wanting to try Glam Glow for what seems like forever but it is again a super pricey item. This particular set lets you try three of the four kinds for the price of one!

5. Urban Decay Vice 3 Pallet-Urban Decay can just do no wrong when it comes to eyeshadow. I need the Vice 3 pallet in my life...just look at those colors!

6. Harry Potter iPhone Case- So I still don't have an iPhone case...I'm a super Harry Potter fan....I think this case needs to be in my life!

7. Knitting Stuff- I have fallen in love with knitting. I will take ANYTHING knitting related. Bring me all the yarn!

8. Real Techniques Brushes-  I have a few of these brushes and let me tell you they were game changers. Really great price for high quality brushes and can be found at Ulta, Kohls, and Walmart!

9. Barnes and Nobel Gift Card- Books are life. I know not everyone likes gift cards but I ADORE Barnes and Nobel ones! It helps feed my literature addiction.

10. Fit Bit Flex- I have heard great things about this little gadget and as I continue on my journey toward fit I think it might be a cool gift to help me along!

So there is my wishlist! Hope you enjoyed and wishing you a fun-filled weekend!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Thursday Thoughts: Excuses, December Goals, 30

Good Morning Everyone,

So apparently I took a week off of blogging without even really thinking about it. I have lots of excuses but the top ranking two are that I have been really busy and also taking a writing break because finishing my 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo was a pretty hard slog and I didn't feel much like writing or being creative.

Also I've fallen in love with knitting so there is that as well.

Today I was supposed to link up with Steph on the Choose Your Own Adventure and share my organization adventure. I had planned on working on the garage...that didn't happen. I do plan on working on my closet this afternoon....if I am good maybe I will remember to take pictures and perhaps get a link into the linkup after all....but I wouldn't hold my breath.

So what was I going to talk about? Oh yes December Goals.

Here's a list:

1. The Choose Your Own Adventure goal is to SIMPLIFY. I will be working on this one in a big way, especially because I'm going to have to in order to make room for all of the things Kyra is getting for Christmas....

2. Continue on my weight loss journey. I haven't talked about this much but things are going pretty awesome, I only gained two pounds over the holiday and that is pretty great since I had THREE Thanksgivings to attend...and food is yummy.

3. EDIT. So much editing to do....

4. Start working on a daily/weekly schedule. Things have been so hectic lately and I think that if I had a set schedule of things to get done day to day it would really help relieve some stress.

5. Smile, Relax, Enjoy the season. Oh yeah...and turn 30.

See how I slipped that in there? Yeah I'm turning 30....in twenty days. I'm not upset by the number...no biggie really....I'm more just in shock that somehow I will be out of my 20s.....I'm not really sure I'm an adult yet...

Okay so that is it for me. I know this was a weird sort of mish mash post but I needed to get back in the swing of things. I'll be back tomorrow with Friday Favorites also known as What I Want for Christmas/Birthday!
