Weekend 8/20-8/21

Saturday: We decided to take Kyra to the movies and have a little family fun time. We saw Kubo and the Two Strings and it was really enjoyable. I love that they showed some of the animation process at the end of the film. So much work goes into stop animation but it was really beautiful to watch and the story was good.

After the movie we headed home and Robert's brother came over. We were planning on gaming for a bit but my father in law called and some friends of the family had come into town so we all headed downtown to enjoy the unusually nice weather. We had a really nice visit and even got some of my favorite Lavender Lemonade.

Sunday: We were up and out early the the store to get some necessary items i.e. Milk, Bread, Dog Food and we wanted to beat all the Sunday crowds. We stopped by the Dollar Tree to get a few things and I couldn't resist the Halloween aisles. It is no secret that I love Halloween and I love a good deal so decor for a dollar is a double score!

After the Dollar Tree it was the dreaded Walmart run but I am happy to say that we were in and out in just a few moments. Thank goodness too because when we were checking out the crowd was starting to get thick and I could feel the collective stress.

Don't mind the grumpy face. She was really having a blast she just didn't want her picture taken.

After shopping we headed out to my parents' place to just relax and visit for the afternoon. Kyra could not have been happier. It had been a couple days since we had seen them and she was in desperate need for grandparent time. They actually kept her for the evening when Robert and I headed home so that we could take care of chores and walk the pups. So we got an evening to ourselves which we mostly spent getting the house back in order and reading books but it was still nice.

Then Mum brought Kyra home and it was time for bed!

All in all it was a pretty standard weekend. How was yours? Did anyone else see Kubo? What did you think of it?

Weekend Recap: The Reenactment

Saturday: We started off the morning by going out and getting breakfast at our favorite local place which put all of us in a good mood after a rather sleepless night. (Kyra has started having nightmares and it takes a long time to get her back down after a bad one.) Plus the weather was lovely and it was the perfect day for being out and about. Since it was so nice we decided that we would go and see my in-laws. They are Civil War Reenactors and we thought it might be fun  to go and watch.

It really was a lot of fun and amazingly enough Kyra LOVED the cannons. I thought for sure she would jump but she clapped and shouted "FUN!" every time one went off. She is definitely my husband's daughter.

The actors were really great and it was quite the site to see. I was glad that there was commentary going on over the loud speakers because there was quite a lot to keep track of...I know that the pictures don't show a whole lot but unfortunately I was holding Kyra for most of it so I didn't get the chance to take all that many. Plus they are just phone pics because we didn't have the fancy camera.

After the battle we returned the the camp to visit with my in-laws for a bit. Yes they are staying in an old fashioned tent and this is Kyra wearing an old fashioned lady's snood while standing in said tent.

After the reenactment we headed home for a little dinner/bath time/ bedtime!

Sunday: I had every intention of spending Sunday at home working on chores but my husband didn't want to be stuck at the house all day so we headed out for another adventure. We decided to drive down into the city for a little "window" shopping. We hit up the normal places- Home Goods, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Target, etc.

You find the best stuff at T.J. Maxx. Like this epic coozy.

We also stopped in at Z Gallerie which I had heard about a lot but had never actually set foot in one before. It was really fun! I loved a lot of the pieces and it had me thinking that I should really redecorate....everything! We didn't buy anything but it was still a lot of fun to look around and get inspired.
Loved this setup. Bobby was lusting after the benches. He likes big family gathering style.

We both loved this chandelier.

You might not be able to tell but that is an octopus holding the table up. I have no idea why but I loved this.

After that we met up with my parents and my brother and his g/f and did a little shopping at Joanns. Mom is helping my brother's g/f with her Halloween costume and is also helping me with a little sewing project as well. We shopped for a bit then it was off to dinner (Chinese, YUM!) and then we parted ways. Bobby had to go and get some pants for work so we headed off to Kohls. It took forever but he got what he needed and we actually got some seriously good deals so all in all it was a win!

And that was our weekend!

How was yours?

Weekend Recap 8/24

Good Morning Everyone,

Time for the Recap!

Friday:
Amazingly enough the weather has been wonderful here lately. So Kyra and I spent pretty much the entire day outside drawing, relaxing, playing in her playhouse, and just enjoying the good life. Don't worry I COATED us with sunscreen!

Cuteness.

She loves the chalk art. Little artist in the making!

Saturday:
My brother D had mentioned that this thrift store had a TON of Halloween things out and that meant I had to go and check it out! There was a lot of stuff but I didn't pick up any Halloween things. Cool stuff but nothing that jumped out and said it had to go home with me.
Also if you want more ridiculousness from me my SnapChat is chaosncocoa

After that we headed to Price Chopper yet again because we had guests coming over to start a new D&D campaign. While we were shopping I ran across these and had to snap a pic. Is there a great demand for these? What do you do with them? Is there some underground cactus loving movement happening that I am not aware of?

Then the night was spent rocking out our nerdy life. We borrowed this massive amount of dice from Bobby's Dad and I just thought they looked so pretty in there. I also admit that I totally pick my dice according to how pretty I think they are!

Sunday:
Lazy day since we had a pretty full day on Saturday. Bobby and Kyra took a nap and I got in a good amount of time on the treadmill and caught up on some YouTube videos. I also got some behind the scenes work done on the blog which is always such a relief/joy!

That's the Recap! Have a good Monday Everyone!

Weekending 6/15

Good Morning Everyone,

This morning is starting slow due to being up WAY too late and not having any coffee in the house. Still I thought I would get up the weekend recap since I failed to do it last week!

Friday:
I decided to make doughnuts. I've never made them before and they turned out pretty awesome if I say so myself! Everyone seemed to enjoy them!

After my culinary triumph I headed to the library. I had a stack of holds come in and I was so excited to pick them up and start reading!

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with Kyra and watching a whole lot of YouTube videos on Nerdy Nummies. I had no idea this was a thing and now I'm hooked.

Saturday:
My parents offered to watch Kyra so that Bobby and I could go see Jurassic World. We dropped her off at about 9am so that we could make the early 10:30 showing. Less crowds and it means that it only cost us ten bucks total to see it! SCORE.

The car always has the best lighting for selfies. I was actually taking this to check my lipstick.

The movie was amazing and I thought they did a really good job with the story line. Also Chris Pratt is tasty delicious. Hilarious, Adorable, and HOT. He did a great job as the Raptor Wrangler. If you get a chance GO SEE IT.

After the movie we did a little browsing at T.J. Maxx. I took silly photographic evidence for the blog...people were staring and looking at me like a crazy person. Eh Whatever. Still fun.

This little guy is REALLY happy to be a Popsicle.

Then we decided to go out and get lunch. We went to Q39, apparently it is now THE place for barbeque in the city. Now I don't eat enough barbeque to be the judge of that but I will say that the food was DELICIOUS.
This was mine. Q-burger. Brisket burger with onion straws. YUM.

Bobby's. Judge's Sampler. Pork, chicken, brisket. Again. YUM.

After lunch it was time to go and get Kyra. She was missing Mama!

Sunday:
We spent most of the day bathing the dogs and doing their summer flea/tick treatments. That took a lot of work and was stressful as all get out...but it's done.

After that the rest of the day was spent attempting to relax, watching Orange is the New Black Season 3 and finally watching the season finale of Game of Thrones, which was brutal. I won't give any spoilers but it was really heart wrenching to watch.

So there you have it. Our weekend. How was your weekend? Did you see Jurassic World? Planning on seeing it?

Weekend Rambly Stuff

Good Morning Everyone,

Apparently it is June 1st already. Half the year is gone. I have no idea why it is that time is flying by so quickly but here we are.

Though despite how quickly the year is going last week seemed to drag on and on....actually the week was a bit of a mess for me but that is a whole other thing.

I didn't get around to doing my garage sale this past weekend. I just couldn't seem to get everything together in order to get it out there in time. I'm not too worried about it however as it rained pretty much the entire weekend. There will be another weekend I'm sure.

What we did get accomplished on Saturday was a lot of wandering around looking for inspiration on what to get Kyra for her birthday. Mostly just a lot of this happened.

Also we managed to get Bobby some new shorts which I pointed out he needed because the ones he was wearing were started to get a hole in them. He fought at first but thankfully we were able to find some that he liked at Kohls. Win.

I however found absolutely nothing despite trying many things on. Fail.

Sunday morning was spent doing the grocery shopping. It actually wasn't too bad because:
1) I had a list
2) We left super early in the morning and beat the crowd.

We were back home by 10am and I was SO happy about it!

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing laundry, meal planning, and playing endless rounds of blocks/coloring/My Little Pony with Kyra. We also got caught up on all our Hulu Shows during this process.

All in all it was a really nice afternoon and I tried to let myself relax and enjoy myself instead of worrying about what I had to do this week. Of course it all caught up with me about midnight last night and I spent the next two hours in a state of anxious stress until finally passing out from sheer exhaustion. So you know...the normal.

The reason for the stress is this week is going to be a busy one since Kyra's birthday is this Friday!

Two years have flown by...seriously they warn you about this when you get pregnant but you aren't really prepared....

Anyhow so I will be spending the week getting my house in order before her party on Saturday and honestly I'm already freaking out about it. I'm sure it will be fine but honestly worrying has become one of my best skills.
.

Now on I'm off to get started on excessive cleaning that I've convinced myself the house needs. Pray for me.

Weekend Update on May the Fourth

Good Morning Everyone,

First things first, Happy May 4th,

Now that that is out of the way, on with the update.

Friday- Low key type day. My brother spent the day hanging out with me and then he and I and my husband played a few games and just in general chilled out. I also managed to get a lot of work done on my little garden. We've lived here for four years now but I never really messed with outside. I'm not really an "outside" type person, but my Mom and MIL gave me some plants and so I thought why not? I rather like it..now I just need some bricks or rocks for a border...

Saturday- My cousin's birthday party. It was Monster High themed but the thing that she was most excited about getting was these Shopkins things. Admittedly I am not up to date on all things 8 year old but it took me a bit by surprise just how excited she was to get these things!

Also I find them adorable as well but basically I like anything that looks remotely kawaii. (Update: Robert thinks they are creepy.)
(This is a kawaii panda...see so cute!)

The rest of Saturday was spent being lazy because Kyra was so exhausted from the party. She napped and my husband and I spent the time watching movies/reading. It was blissfully uneventful.

Sunday- My parents offered to keep Kyra so we could go and see Age of Ultron!

We went to an early showing so that we could avoid the crowds and I am really glad that we did. Our theater was still full but not overwhelmingly so.

The movie was good and really funny. Definitely had some good one-liners and the sass level was off the charts. Joss Whedon was taking me back to my Buffy days with all the quips. Loved it. Two thumbs up!

After the movie we headed to the dreaded Walmart. However I had a list and actually took the time to make a meal plan ahead of time! So not only do I have the meals for the week planned but we managed to get in and out of there in record time and actually didn't spend nearly what we normally do! I realize how good meal planning is for me and I will attempt to continue. You all remind me of this when I'm whining about it later okay? Thanks.

The whole time we were out my parents were taking Kyra out for a day of fun! I kept getting cute pictures like this!

But when we got back to pick her up she was ready to come home and took an epically long nap the rest of the afternoon!

Our evening was spent grilling out, watching Food Network, followed by what is turning out to be the most boring season of Game of Thrones.  (I've read all the books, I know they are trying to stretch for time but UGH so slow!)

So there you have the weekend update! How was your weekend? Did you go see any movies? Did you see Age of Ultron? Did you like it? Let me know down below!

Scenes from the Weekend

Good Morning Everyone!

Here's some scenes from our weekend!

Friday- My husband took the day off and we spent it enjoying the day out. We took Kyra shopping and she picked out these two little Dalmatian puppies. She is IN LOVE with the movie 101 Dalmatians! Anyhow she picked them up and I asked her which one she wanted....she said she wanted both....she got both. We are softies what can I say?

I had to return something to Sephora and thus did an exchange for something else that I am really excited to do a post about this week!

After shopping we spent the evening having a game night with my husband's family and my little brother. We had a ton of fun as usual!

Saturday- It was supposed to be a miserable cold snowy day but instead the weather pulled it's usual mischief and it was rather nice! We decided to take advantage of another lovely day and go out and about. We hit up a Tabletop game store and ended up bringing home even more games!

After the Tabletop store we stopped by my dad's work and visited him so he could see Kyra for a bit. He loves getting to show her off to his coworkers!

Next we stopped at Trader Joe's....because that is what everyone does in the city right? Stop at the different grocery stores? No? Just me? Huh.

Well anyhow we stopped and I picked up my real reason for stopping there. YUM.

Then my brother's friend said she would like to come up and have a game night again with us. My parents took Kyra for a couple of hours and more gaming commenced. We played until 2am...it was awesome.

Sunday- Lazy day. We were all pretty wiped out from the days before and thus spent most of the day watching movies with Kyra. Although I still did laundry, dishes, and cleaned all the bedrooms. Still it was pretty laid back.

Mom's dogs were exhausted as well...but very much enjoying the heat from the stove!

Sunday Selfie

Sunday nights are also our nightly dinner/Walking Dead nights. No Oscars for us! Last night's episode was pretty intense though so I think it was a good trade off!

Kyra didn't watch however. She instead watched 101 Dalmatians for the millionth time with her Pop Pop and enjoyed time riding her rocking horse and delighting everyone. She's adorable.

So there are the scenes from our weekend!

Happy Monday Everyone!
