Thoughtful Thursday: Best Friends

Good Morning Everyone,

Lately I've been thinking about friendships. It seems like everyone has a best friend, or even a group of best friends. Everyone seems to have that person that they call when things are going awesome and they want to share the news or when things are going south and they need a shoulder to cry on. I keep reading these comments on blogs and on Facebook about "going to see my bestie!" or girls going on trips together, shopping together, meeting for coffee, arranging play dates, or just talking on the phone for hours.

I don't have a best friend.

When I was younger I used to have "best friends" but they never thought of me as their "best friend". I was just a friend, someone to call when you needed help or when your boyfriend dumped you, or you just wanted to go do something without having to pay for it. I called these my best friends but they never were...not really.

I had a close group of girlfriends in high school but once we went to college and right around the time I started dating my now husband...it fell apart. Now I see them posting about things they do together but I'm not in the group anymore....I don't count.

I tried again in college but the ended worse than the first time. Apparently I was a bad friend because I didn't ALWAYS answer the phone and I wasn't ALWAYS available. I had a boyfriend and he and I did spend a lot of time together, but apparently I was also supposed to be in a relationship type thing with the friends....I guess I missed that memo in girl school.

Now I have guy friends and my husband of course....but they don't relate to my girl problems at all. Also I don't have any sisters, only brothers, and while they are super sweet, they don't get the girl problems either.

I do have 2 friends that were in my wedding that I adore...but I know I am not their best friend. They live pretty far away so casual hangouts don't happen, everything has to be planned way in advance. Also they aren't married and don't have any kids so when I do talk to them about things going on in that part of my life I know they are trying to be supportive....but they have no clue what is going on. I know this for a fact because I myself never understood what it was like on this side. I didn't know how hard marriage could be or how sometimes even though you love your child with the fierceness that doesn't seem possible...you wanna just sit and cry because you haven't gotten to talk to an actual adult in two weeks.

So now here I am...almost 30 and I have no best friend. I talk to my mom pretty much every day but that isn't the same thing is it? Also I know she is feeling the same way because she doesn't have a best friend either...and some things you just cannot share between mother and daughter.

I do have my blog and my writing though...and even though I don't always get a comment or feedback from anyone at least I put the feelings out there. Even if it is just into the void.

Do you have a best friend? Or are you more of a solitary sort of person? Feel free to share below.

You Know I'm all about that....

Confession Day!!!!!

Vodka and Soda

I confess that I have been blasting this song on repeat for like four days now. I wasn't into it at first but now I must play it until I hate it...pretty sure my husband already does.

I confess that I am giddy about the return trip to Renfest this weekend. I know you all are probably like "Seriously? Again?!" but yes again. This time the hubs and I are going alone which in itself is really exciting!

I confess that despite my efforts to really like this flat iron it is just not as good as my CHI....which is dead....boo.

I confess that every time someone rolls their eyes at the Halloween Decor and Christmas decor I want to punch them in the face. Stop raining on my parade!

I confess that when I saw some young girl at Target on Monday in leggings, a sweater, boots, and a scarf....while it was 85 degrees and muggy as hell out...and she is talking loudly on her phone about "fashion trends"..... I just .....UGH......

I confess that I am so thrilled that the new shows are on TV again! The Strain, Gotham, Blacklist, Sleepy Hollow....SO MUCH GOODNESS. Of course next month is where it is is at....Walking Dead and SUPERNATURAL!!!!

Well that is it for me this week! Hope Everyone is having a good one! See you tomorrow!

Tutorial Tuesday: How To Build A Fairy House

Good Morning Everyone,

So if you have been following along the past couple weeks you would have seen that my parents and I entered Fairy Houses into the Ren Fest competition. Honestly we just did it for the free tickets but my parents are like SUPER creative and thus they made this thing of beauty....

And they took third place! There were over a Thousand entries and they won Third! They scored some awesome prizes including season passes for next year! I was super jealous because mine didn't place but now I am more determined than ever that next year I will be the winner!

Anyhow even though I didn't place I wanted to share with you all the steps of how I made my own little fairy house, because honestly I was pretty proud of how it turned out!

First thing I did was find this little house at the thrift store. It was only three bucks and I thought it was perfect for what I wanted to do!

Second was to attach some fake moss to the roof top to make it look like it lived in the woods.

Third it was time for a little bit of paint and then time to attach the bits of shell. I hand placed each one using the glue gun. Only got burned once! Also I made a little door from Popsicle sticks, painted it purple and used a thumb tack for the door knob. The windows are lined with Willow branches.

Almost finished! Just needs a little something....

Tah- Dah! My finished fairy house. Maybe it didn't win any prizes but honestly that is okay. I loved making it and I am really looking forward to next year's competition!

Hey It's Ok! Vol. 2

Good Morning Everyone!

Today is another edition of Hey It's Ok!

...to randomly and for no real reason completely fail to blog for a week. Except for your confessions post of course.

...to suddenly want to drink cups upon cups of coffee even though you have had maybe three cups in the last four months.

....to create massive wishlists based on the fictional fortune you have in your head.

....that you only got your baby's pictures in two outfits since she was just NOT HAVING IT during the photo session. Hey the photos you got were cute and you saved money!

...to go completely crazy at the dollar store on Halloween items. They were just a dollar!

...to want to completely simplify your life and chuck everything out and start fresh. It will probably never happen but it is totally okay to want to!

...to watch makeup tutorials and hauls over and over again. How else will you learn?

...to put up a post like this on a Monday because you know that everyone is pretty tired from the weekend and actually doesn't mind "fluff" posts because Monday's are serious enough!

Hope Everyone is having a great day....if not here is a picture of a cute kiddo....

Confession Day 9/17

Morning Everyone,

Vodka and Soda

Confession Day is the best day of the week. Seriously even better than Friday around these parts....

...I confess that I seriously do not know how I survive sometimes....I spent 20 minutes looking for my hair clip....just FYI it was attached to my shirt....the shirt I was wearing. Yep, I did that.

... I confess I have eaten WAY too many of these in the past few weeks but I cannot help myself. They have been injected with crack I swear.

...I confess that inspired by Kathy's organization I totally redid my pantry. As in I moved all the food stuffs into this cabinet. I don't have a before picture because I'm a hot mess like that. Whatever.

Here is the finished product...the pic should show up now!!!!!

...I confess that I am totally working on my Christmas/Birthday list already. #sorrynotsorry

...I confess that I am so jealous that my husband got 4 freaking days away. He didn't have to be a dad or a husband, he just got to go and be a guy for 4 whole freaking days. I got to clean the house and watch the baby....like I do every day.

...I confess that I haven't left my house except to go to my mom's (which is five minutes away) in a week. I have freaking cabin fever SO BAD.

...I confess that because I obviously don't waste enough time on the internet, I joined tumblr. So long productivity!

That's it for this week, Peace.

Worth Every Cent

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am doing a post that I originally saw over at Steph's Page and I thought it was just the most awesome post! Everyone puts different priorities on things and everyone has different opinions on what is worth spending their money on! I loved seeing her list and thought it would be a really fun post to share a list of my own! (Plus if you have been here long you know how much I LOVE a good list!)

1) Clarisonic Mia- I put this off forever but honestly now that I have one I am not sure I could go without one! When I was out of town for Labor Day I didn't take it with me and seriously my face felt so awful! I have an issue with "texture" and the occasional monthly breakout. My Clarisonic has totally changed all of that! I use it nightly with the sensitive brush head and I have absolutely no regrets with this purchase!

2) Benefit Porefessional- It is a primer that you put on before your makeup and it runs about $30.....which is pretty pricey. However it seriously makes your makeup go on so much smoother and it really does help to minimize the appearance of pores. It helps my makeup stay on really well but I will warn you that if you are super oily you might want to check out the new Smashbox Pore Minimizing primer which is supposed to be amazing. I haven't tried it yet but I hear very good things about it!

3) Pedicures- I know that Steph said this but it is TRUE.

4) Boppy- This one is for the Mama's out there. I use my Boppy EVERYDAY. Kyra has loved it since she was a tiny thing and still nursing. She still loves to sleep on it during nap times!
Boppy Bare Naked Pillow with Slipcover & $30 Bonus Gift - Pink Owls

5) EOS Lip Balm- Warning you will want to collect them all...

6) Extra Long iPhone/iPad chargers (seriously the Freedom!!!)

7) Google Chromecast- This is probably my Most Used Christmas gift from last year!

8) Amazon Prime Membership - again Steph mentioned this but honestly...we save So Much at Christmas time!

9) Makeup Brushes- Okay I fought tooth and nail against this but honestly....since I switched to Real Techniques brushes and better brushes in general instead of just using my fingers or the little ones that come with the makeup...well it has been a game changer! Honestly a good brush can make even the lowest budget makeup look awesome ( I am not a makeup snob, I love expensive makeup sure but I will drug store it up ANYTIME! Wet n' Wild is my LOVE!)

10) Books- I know this is like a general statement but I NEVER feel badly about spending money on books. I don't care what type of book....books are one of the few bits of magic that we are capable of!
So true...

So what is worth every cent to you? I know you all have other things you like to spend your hard earned money on! Share in the comments!
