#Blogtober~ About Me

  Good Morning Everyone,

So today for Blogtober I am supposed to write about me, well since that is already the prompt I thought I would also incorporate these lovely awards I got last week! I was awarded the One Lovely Blog award from both Carly at Musings of a Wanderer and Chelsea from Cats and Cappuccino!

I can't tell you how excited I was to be nominated twice! Since I was nominated twice and since it is the About Me post I will do 14 items about myself instead of just 7!

THE RULES…
Thank and link back to the awesome person who nominated you
Share 7 things about yourself (in my case 14!)
Nominate 15 other bloggers and comment on their blogs to let them know

14 Facts About Me

1) My birthday is Christmas Eve and this year I will be 30!

(LOL j/k I don't care about being 30! It is what it is!)
2) I LOVE Scary movies. However I will have to watch a Disney movie afterward if it is late at night!

3) I am 1/4 Hawaiian.
(This is obviously NOT ME.)

4) I have over 75 notebooks full of stories I have written since I was 11. Writing is my life!

5)Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my FAVORITE show when I was in Jr. high and HS. I own all the seasons now.

6) I wear flip flops pretty much all year round.

7) My house is always less than 68 degrees. I don't do "heat".

8) I spontaneously break out into song and dance. Like I am in a musical.

9) I am the oldest of three children.

10) I am a dog person. Seriously...I have four.

11) Sweet tea is my drink of choice other than water. Soda just doesn't do it for me. (Coffee is my life blood and therefore not a drink)

12) I climbed to the top of a castle tower in England.

13) My favorite candy bar is Whatchamacallit.

14) When I was six I was a Bat for Halloween. My mom made the costume and it ROCKED. I was an awesome kid.

So there are some VERY random facts about me and since I am not sure just who all has received this award I am just going to nominate EVERYONE to do it if you wanna!

Have a great day everyone! See you tomorrow...it's HALLOWEEN!!

#Blogtober~ Embarrassing Confession

Good Morning Everyone,

This is kind of a bittersweet confession day because Kathy is no longer holding the Confessions Linkup. :( Very sad panda.

However today is a Blogtober day and the prompt is Most Embarrassing Moment.

So this is still a confession post because I don't think I have ever talked about this one on the blog. It isn't really my "Most Embarrassing" as I don't really have a moment in my life that I am really super embarrassed about....I do all sorts of ridiculous stuff so honestly picking one at random seemed like the best option!

So here is my embarrassing story.

Robert and I went to Jamaica for his 25th birthday. It was a special trip because of course it was his birthday but it was also the first time he had ever been on a plane or left the country. We were both really excited about going and once we got there we discovered a paradise. The whole trip was amazing. Our hotel was AWESOME because we got an upgrade because the original one that we booked was full. So we ended up at a much nicer hotel and resort. All in all things were going wonderful.

Part of what the All inclusive hotels offer is day trips. Basically you pay a little extra and get to take a day trip to part of the island. We were doing a trip to see some crocodiles, then go see a huge 700ft waterfall, and then head to Appleton to see how rum was made.

The crocs were fun...if slightly scary. Robert shook one's hand. I wasn't having any of that...I just took the picture.

Then it was to the waterfall.

It was really beautiful there and we had about two hours that we were allowed to wander around and take photos and even swim if you wanted.

There was also zip lining.

Did I mention that one of the things Robert MOST WANTED to do was zip line?

Yeah, he wanted to do that but all the day trips for that were super expensive. However at this particular waterfall you could do it for just 30 bucks a person. He gave me the smile he knew I couldn't refuse...even though I hate heights. This is proof how much I love him.

So we strap in and climb up these crazy stairs so that we can zip line around the falls. The last zip line is right over the waterfall. That is 700ft up in the air people.

They tell us that once you push off you are going to go over the falls and then you need to start using your hand to brake. At the end of the line is a HUGE tree with a little cushion wrapped around it...you gotta brake or else guess what? You are going to hit the tree...and the cushion is LITTLE.

Robert goes down without a hitch.

Then it is my turn. I push off....I'm zipping....I panic...I brake.

I stop.

I stop just at the end of the falls, hovering in mid air above all the people that are visiting the swimming area.

Did I mention I was in a skirt? Oh I didn't? Well I was.

People laughed and pointed. I basically just died.

Oh and do you know what they do when you get stuck out there? Well you are supposed to turn yourself around and pull yourself in using your arm strength.

There are two problems:
1) I am way to embarrassed to do this...
2) Arm strength?? Are you kidding?

So if you can't pull yourself in you know what happens? Some lithe little Jamaican man has to come out there and hitch his line to yours and PULL YOU IN.

Let me just be clear. During this vacation I was probably the heaviest I have ever been in my life. I hate the pictures from this vacation with a passion because well...I hate the way I look. So you can imagine how horrified I was to have to have this skinny yet EXTREMELY muscular guy having to haul my butt (and his own tiny one) in from the zip line.

So yeah...there you have it. My embarrassing confession. I hope you learned a few things:

1) Don't zip line in a skirt.
2) Don't panic and brake too early.
3) Jamaican zip line guides are like SUPER strong.

Have a great Wednesday Everyone.

#Blogtober~ Very Superstitious

...Writing's on the Wall.....

Anyone else singing that song during today's post?? No? Just Me? Awesome.

Here is the song if you wanna join the sing-a-long....I will be singing it for the next week I am sure....

Okay moving on...Today we are going to talk about Superstitions.

I honestly don't have many...I try to not worry about those type things but I do have a few things....

1) I don't whistle after dark. This one is passed down from my mom. Apparently whistling at night (most specifically at the door like if you were calling the dogs in or something) invites evil into the house.

2) If I ever spill the salt I always throw a pinch over my left shoulder. This one is to prevent bad luck I believe....I am actually not really sure but it is something I've done forever.
(Quote is from Practical Magic. AWESOME MOVIE.)

3) I, as a general rule, avoid situations that have slightly "Horror Movie" circumstances. I am not going into the supposedly "haunted" asylum with you. I'm not going to go and walk around the woods in the dark. I am not going into the scary basement without a weapon.

4) Ouija boards in general don't really bother me and I do own one that I used to have on display in my room because it is a really old version. However I don't own the pointer thing. As in it isn't in my house and I have no idea where it is and that is fine with me. It's a decor item and a toy (seriously it is made my Hasbro) but hey, why tempt fate?(And now they have the scary movie about it out so yeah..it can just stay packed because I have an over active imagination....)

5) I don't hang my limbs off the edge of the bed because clearly they will get eaten off.

So there you have it, my superstitions. I am torn between wanting to read yours and not wanting to...I mean....what if I just end up adding more things to my list? Seriously...it's enough to make a girl paranoid! LOL!

Have a great day everyone, join me back here tomorrow for more #Blogtober!

#Blogtober~ Letter to my Younger Self

Good Morning Everyone,

Today we are supposed to write a letter to our younger self....I actually did this a few months ago and since it is a Monday and since I am not feeling particularly full of wisdom....I'm gonna do a re post. It is what it is my friends!

Dear 19 (omg it has been ten years…) year old me,

I’m writing you this letter because now that ten years have passed I am for sure older than you and though some days it may not seem like it, I am wiser. So as a “wiser” person I thought I would give you a few little tips to help you on your journey. Even though some of them will be too little too late, just roll with it and trust me.

First and foremost because I know it is the biggest thing you are worried about even though it shouldn’t be. YES you will get married. YES you will have a gorgeous child. That is all I am giving you on that, but since I know it is something that keeps you up at night I thought I would be kind and just let you know now that it all works out in the end.

Now to the other stuff:

.........Enjoy yourself. Get out of your dorm room and have some fun! I know that college was a big step. It is scary but you have to get out of your room for more than just class and the amazing baked potatoes in the cafeteria.

........WORK OUT. For real. Cheerleading is over and you need to supplement the activity. Baked potatoes are not calorie free even if you are eating them in the privacy of your dorm room.

........Do not get guinea pigs. Just trust me.

........Don’t worry that you don’t seem to really “click” with the other girls in your dorm. It’s okay. You are going to meet some truly amazing people and they will be your friends for life. Not one of them live with you freshman year.

........DO NOT fall into the hoodie and sweatpants trap!

........DO NOT take out student loans. So not worth it.

........DO call home. A Lot. You will miss them. They will miss you. It will do you good.

.......Go easy on Mom. She is just trying to do her best for you. You will really appreciate her in the years to come.

.......Stop stressing out so much about what everyone is thinking. They are not thinking about you. They are 9 out of 10 times thinking about themselves.

.......Smile a lot and often. People love it when you do.

.......Never be ashamed of your body. It may not look like everyone else, but that is the beauty of it.

......Write more. You need it now more than ever. Write all your thoughts, hopes, and dreams down. They are powerful.

......Stay up late and play board games during finals week. Stay up all night in fact and then get IHOP at 5am and run home in the pouring rain. It is still one of my best memories.

......Let your freak flag fly. You are a Fangirl. You love Harry Potter, Movies, Books, Anime, Cosplay, and pretty much all things nerdy. OWN IT.

......Remember that you are not required to have your whole life figured out right now. Trust me on this because even ten years down the road you won’t have it all figured out….but somehow it all seems perfect anyway.

.....And one last thing.....Some words to live by....

I hope these tips help. I’m cheering for you girly.

Sincerely,
You.

#Blogtober~ I'm a Movie Star!

Good Morning Everyone,

Today's Prompt: Who'd play you in a movie?

Such fun! Honestly this is a tough question....I like a lot of actresses and when I try and think of who I would WANT to play me in a movie there are a few that come to mind....however when I sit down and pick just who I think it would be awesome to have play me, I'd pick.....

Jennifer Lawrence.

She is so silly and fun in her interviews and her passion for food is matched by my own! I love that she is not afraid to be silly and ridiculous! Plus this is legit something I would say.....

So when I asked my husband who he would have play me, his answers were:

Scarlett Johansson

and

Kate Beckinsale circa Van Helsing

I think he was just trying to score brownie points with the Kate one....the Scarlett one was just because I think he thought if it were a movie about me he might get to meet her. *Insert Eye Roll*

#Blogtober~ Favorite Book

Good Morning Everyone,

Today's prompt: Favorite Book

This is SO HARD.

They always ask me to choose I just can't it is impossible so stop asking
I love books. I love a LOT of books.....there are just so many good ones!

Choosing a favorite is like pulling teeth, I mean seriously....they are all good for so many different reasons!!!

So I'm gonna cheat. I'm gonna give you my top ten. #sorrynotsorry

In no particular order:

1. The Harry Potter Series- I really love this series for the more obvious reasons but the not so obvious one is that these are the books that got my youngest brother interested in reading! I started reading these to him when he was 11 (same age as Harry!) and he fell in love with the story and even when I went away to Europe for two weeks he was calling me and telling me that he wanted me to read to him! Since then he has loved books and most especially audio books. So Thank you Harry Potter, it's a memory I will always love.

2. The Lord of the Rings - I read this in high school and the introduced me (and pretty much everyone) to the Epic Fantasy novel. They are for sure "crunchy" books but I do adore the story, even years later!

3. The Iron Druid Series by Kevin Hearne- These are just pure fantasy fun and thanks to my other brother for introducing me to these! They are quick reads but I am so invested in the characters, I love the mythology, and I WANT and Irish Wolfhound!

4. The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle- I loved the movie when I was little and in fact too young to really understand what it was about! The book is even deeper and I really love it. I has a special place on my bookshelf.

5. The Wolf Brother Series by Michelle Paver-
Again I have my youngest brother to thank for this one, even though I finished the series way before he did! This is just a great series for the fantasy lover and also it has a lot to do with growing up and finding your place in the world. Excellent series!

6. The Nerdist Way by Chris Hardwick- This book was kind of life changing for me. That sounds so super lame but honestly I am not kidding. I now completely and utterly embrace my nerdy ways where before I kind of kept it on the DL. I am a nerd and I obsess about loads of nerdy things. However this book will teach you to not only embrace your inner nerd but also really learn to use it to your advantage and put it to work in your daily life! Such a great book and I am so glad that being nerdy is finally something I can embrace and love.

7. On Writing by Stephen King- Wonderful blend of a Memoir and a Tool kit for the writer. I don't really read a whole lot of Stephen King but I do completely agree with his tool box kit for those looking to be a better writer. I listen to this audio book every couple of months to remind myself to write all the time and to just brush back up on the basics and not get too bogged down with worrying about what people will think of my writing. Just Write!

8. A Dog's purpose by Cameron W. Bruce- I love dogs. I have always had a dog in my life and this book touched me so deeply. I cried, I laughed, and I felt like someone finally got what it means to have a dog. Now this book is written in the POV of a dog and as that title states he is trying to find his purpose. Never before has anyone written such a wonderful idea of what a dog's purpose might be. I LOVED this book and the sequel. Please read this, but bring tissues.

9. Belladonna by Anne Bishop-
Wonderful fantasy book. Completely new world to dive into and if you love fantasy and magic and a little love story, you will love this one.

10. The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl by Shauna Reed-
Diet Girl is the reason I started to blog. No joke. Now her blog is no longer up but the book is there for those of you that missed out on her journey. Part weight loss memoir, part wonderful life story it is just a great book for anyone and everyone. All bloggers should read.

#Blogtober~ Best In Beauty

Good Morning Everyone!

Today's Favorites/Prompt: Beauty Product you Cannot live without.

This is tough. I love products...as I admitted in my Secret Post. So choosing one beauty product that I cannot live without is really really hard for me. I'm kind of a beauty junkie.

If I had to pick one PRODUCT however....I suppose it would be lip products.

I love a good lippy or gloss and I have an extensive collection to prove that. My favorites however are the following:

Nyx Butter Glosses:

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms:

Maybelline Colorsensational Matte Nudes:

Nyx Matte Lipsticks:

Ugh this was hard....because while a good lippy can really brighten up your face I would probably die without my eye liner too.....but lip products are the pick and I'm sticking to it!

Happy Friday Everyone! Tomorrow is more #Blogtober and we are picking a Favorite Book.....ugh that is worse than picking a favorite beauty item!!!!

#Blogtober~ Favorite Editing Tools

Good Morning Everyone,

Today we are going to talk about favorite editing tools for your blog/instagram.

I'm gonna be real honest here...I only really got into editing things recently and therefore don't have a whole lot to offer but for the beginners I do have some helpful tools that I like to use pretty regularly.

Honestly my first choice when it comes to editing/creating things is always going to be Publisher. That is what I learned on first and is my favorite when it comes to creating fliers and other creative type things and I do occasionally us it for the blog and for newsletters. I used it a lot more when I was working full time but it still works for little blog projects.

Second for the blog is PicMonkey. This is such an easy editing tool and is great for making quick images for any type of blog series you might be doing or if you wanna make any type of collage or edited photo thing for the blog or even Facebook! Very user friendly and if you do decide to upgrade you get TONS more options but if you are a cheapo like myself you can still get a lot done on the freebie version!

Now Instagram and I are new acquaintances but on the rare occasion that I do edit a photo on there I like to use SnapSeed. It is pretty user friendly and lets you have a lot of options when it comes to editing your photos. Also it is free which is super awesome!
Also for a more silly editing tool I like to use PhotoWonder. You can add cool effects and silly images to your photos for days when you aren't taking your selfies too seriously!

I cannot wait to see what editing tools you all use because honestly I'm pretty basic around here! Looking forward to finding more things to play with!
